As soon as Jiang Bai said this, the two of them hesitated for a moment.
The eldest brother turned to the sixth brother and winked, saying, "Go find a piece of paper."
The sixth man looked troubled, his hands clasped together, and asked, "Where can I find paper? I don't even need paper to wipe my butt."
Hearing his vulgar words, the boss kicked him hard and said, "Just go when I tell you to, stop talking so much nonsense."
The sixth brother immediately backed down, spreading his arms above his head and running outside while shouting, "I'll go find it right away."
Jiang Bai delayed a little longer. The tension in his heart subsided slightly.
She had never missed Zhao Yi as much as she did now.
The eldest brother watched the sixth brother leave, then turned his gaze back to Jiang Bai, giving her a sharp look before picking up a rope and tying her hands together.
Jiang Bai, now deprived of his freedom, shouted anxiously, "I still need to help you write the secret recipe later!"
The eldest brother said, "I'll untie you in a bit. You're too cunning; I don't trust you."
Jiang Bai could only sigh and begin to wait patiently again.
The eldest brother stood beside her like a statue. Jiang Bai couldn't help but ask, "Did Zhao Yi promise when he would give you the secret formula?"
The eldest brother nodded, looked at her, and said, "We'll give it to us today."
"How do you plan to conduct the transaction?" Jiang Bai pressed. "In person?"
Perhaps because the time was almost up, nothing unexpected happened, and Jiang Bai didn't cause any trouble, so the boss relaxed a little.
He replied, "We've already had Zhao Yi bury the secret formula at the location we've chosen. If he doesn't try anything funny, once we've confirmed the formula is genuine, we'll bury your location elsewhere."
Jiang Bai nodded: "That's a good method."
She then asked, "But I've seen what you look like now, are you sure you won't kill me?"
“We are just doing our duty to someone, and we have no grudge against you,” the leader shook his head and said seriously. “Once we get the money from our employer, we will go far away and leave this place.”
Jiang Bai said, "How much money did he give you? Is it worth it for you to leave your homes and flee for your lives? You're so smart and strong, you can earn money by doing any decent work."
Upon hearing this, the eldest brother seemed to have thought of some inexplicable reason. He first sighed, then shook his head without saying a word.
Jiang Bai added, "Just name your price, and I'll give you double or even triple it. You know Zhao Yi is rich, and I think he'll be happy to use a large sum of money to redeem me."
The eldest brother opened his mouth, as if to say something, but was interrupted by the outsider.
The sixth brother rushed in, holding a few sheets of paper and a charcoal stick, and asked Jiang Bai, "Can these be used?"
Jiang Bai craned his neck to look at it, then nodded: "Okay, where did you get it?"
The sixth brother instinctively replied, "My sister's."
"You have a younger sister?" Jiang Bai smiled with interest.
The sixth brother put on a stern face, knowing that the other party was trying to trick him into revealing information, so he kept his mouth tightly shut.
Jiang Bai turned to the boss and said, "Let go."
The eldest brother untied the ropes from Jiang Bai's hands and legs.
Jiang Bai stretched his arms and legs, then raised his neck, paused for a moment, and started doing radio calisthenics.
The sixth man grew impatient: "What are you doing, woman?"
Jiang Bai glared at him: "I've been tied up for so long, my whole body aches, can't I move around a bit?"
She spun around a few more times, with the eldest brother following closely behind, which earned her another eye roll: "You two grown men are right here, are you afraid that a weak woman like me will run away?"
She circled the dilapidated temple twice, looking at it again and again as if admiring the scenery. Finally, before the two kidnappers reached their limit of patience, she returned to her starting point, picked up some paper and charcoal sticks, placed them on the offering altar, and quickly wrote down several common medicinal herbs.
After writing it down, she raised her head and recalled for a moment, then filled in a few more before handing it to the boss behind her: "These are all I remember."
The eldest brother took the paper, focused his attention on the words on it, and silently read them aloud.
Seeing this, Jiang Bai walked over to him and asked, "Is there any word you don't know?"
The eldest brother shook his head, but before he could speak, Jiang Bai suddenly retreated a few meters and slammed the sixth brother's face hard with the charcoal stick in his hand. Then he turned around and sprinted towards the temple gate.
Amidst the pig-like screams of the sixth brother, the eldest brother, disregarding his injuries, felt a chill and rushed towards the door.
He had only taken a few steps when a man dressed entirely in black descended from the sky and blocked his way.
The leader, upon seeing the person opposite him, felt a chill run down his spine and asked, "Who are you?"
The other party did not answer, but the boss had already guessed his identity by recalling Jiang Bai's previous actions. This person must be one of Zhao Yi's subordinates.
When Jiang Bai looked up, she must have seen him, but she didn't get angry. Instead, she first observed the terrain and environment, then used reasonable dialogue to tell the man that there were only two guards in the dilapidated temple. Finally, she seized the opportunity and ran out.
The eldest brother secretly admired Jiang Bai's composure.
The person who arrived was one of Zhao Yi's bodyguards.
Since Jiang Bai started running her shop in a fixed routine, Zhao Yi withdrew the bodyguards who followed her, which led to Jiang Bai's disappearance yesterday.
Upon receiving the kidnapping notice, Zhao Yi was furious. Several of his bodyguards searched tirelessly for a whole day until they finally tracked a suspicious fat man to a remote, dilapidated temple.
The bodyguards paid no heed to their opponent's momentary lapse in concentration. With icy eyes, they charged fiercely at their leader and subdued him in just a few moves.
The eldest brother knew that the person in front of him was a skilled fighter. Even if he and the sixth brother attacked together, they might not be able to subdue him, let alone the sixth brother who was injured.
—He got carbon powder in his eyes and was still lying on the ground rolling around.
The eldest brother, realizing the situation, quickly stopped struggling. His hands were tied behind his back by the guards. Out of the corner of his eye, he saw a tall man enter through the entrance of the dilapidated temple, followed by several men and women dressed in the same black clothes.
Jiang Bai was held tightly by Zhao Yi's shoulders, so tightly that he could hardly move.
She twisted uncomfortably, and the other person used even more force to stop her struggle. Jiang Bai glanced at him and saw that his gaze was fixed on the boss, and his expression was very serious.
—But his hands had already turned white from exerting force.
She recalled that when she ran out of the temple gate, Zhao Yi caught her and checked her over from head to toe, and when he saw that she had no wounds, he breathed a sigh of relief.
Then, the man yelled at her, "I only sent one guard in to observe first and make sure everything is safe. Just wait patiently for me to rescue you. What if you get injured if you try to be brave?"
