Chapter 83 Expressing One's Feelings

Zhao Ping'an is still just an eleven-year-old child; in the future, he would only be in the fifth grade of elementary school.

Asking him to only come home for six days a month is indeed an unbearable torture.

Jiang Bai pulled him over, hugged him for a while, and said, "Otherwise, I'll tell the teacher that you can come home every day like Xiao Le."

It's not troublesome; whether you answer one or two, it's the same.

Zhao Ping'an's body was stiff at first, but then it relaxed.

He tried to hug Jiang Bai's neck like Zhao Xile did, but in the end he just stretched out his hand and gently touched the hair on the back of Jiang Bai with his index finger.

After touching him, he shyly withdrew his hand, his face turning as red as a monkey's bottom, and refused, "No need, it will interfere with my studies."

His classmates all lived at the schoolhouse, and none of them complained about wanting to go home. Some were even younger than him, but they all adapted very well. If he were the only one going home every day, wouldn't he be laughed at for being an unweaned baby?

Zhao Xile was won over by this suggestion. She finally smiled, pulled Zhao Ping'an out of Jiang Bai's arms, and jumped onto him: "Brother, come with me, and come home every day."

Zhao Pingan quickly supported his chubby little body, and moved his right index finger to drive away the little bit of reluctance buried in his heart.

This was the first time Jiang Bai had held him for so long. His mother's body was so soft and fragrant; she loved both of them.

Jiang Bai chatted with Zhao Ping'an and Zhao Xile for a while longer, calming them down before turning and leaving.

This is the time to settle accounts with the culprits.

The wet nurse, Xu, stood at the door and, seeing that Jiang Bai's expression showed no displeasure, breathed a slight sigh of relief.

She asked, "Is everything alright inside?"

"All is well," Jiang Bai said with a smile. "Ping An is playing with Xiao Le. Nanny, you should go in and check on them later. Don't let them play too late; it'll be time for dinner soon."

“Okay,” Xu the wet nurse agreed and tried to go inside.

Jiang Bai asked, "Where is Zhao Yi?"

Xu, the wet nurse, stiffened for a moment, then forced a smile and said, "I almost forgot, the master said that if you want to find him after you get out, you should tell me that he is in the study."

Jiang Bai nodded and left.

She entered the study and saw Zhao Yi sitting upright at his desk, with a stack of letters in front of him. The pen he was holding was frozen in mid-air, and he hesitated to put it down.

Jiang Bai said, "Are you busy? If you are, I'll contact you later."

"No need, no need," Zhao Yi quickly put down his pen, forced a fawning smile, stood up and ushered Jiang Bai to a chair, "I don't have anything serious to do here."

Even if something serious happens, he can't stand it. What could be more serious than "playing tricks on his wife and getting caught, which involved the children and made his wife furious"?

Jiang Bai chuckled: "Zhao Yi, I don't even know how to start this."

The main problem is that what happened today was so incredibly insulting to our intelligence.

Jiang Bai found it utterly unbelievable. If this person always thought like this, how could he have made so much money?

"Didn't you know I have medical skills?" Jiang Bai asked.

In reality, Zhao Xile only pretended for a second in front of her. After she finished taking his pulse and felt that he didn't seem sick, she touched his armpits and buttocks and immediately realized that Zhao Xile was lying.

Putting everything else aside, when a child is healthy, their bottom is ice-cold. It only gets warm when they have a fever. When Jiang Bai put her hand in, Zhao Xile's little body wasn't as warm as her hand.

She rushed home, sweating profusely, which made her seem to have a fever.

Zhao Yi honestly replied, "I know."

Jiang Bai said, "I've never seen anyone do things so perfunctorily. You only know how to apply heat to your forehead and face, but you don't even know to apply it to your armpits."

Zhao Yi also felt innocent about this: "I wanted to apply a compress, but it was too late to take off my clothes."

"So it's my fault for coming back too early?" Jiang Bai frowned.

"No, no," Zhao Yi hurriedly stammered in denial.

Jiang Bai sighed: "I don't know why you're doing this. I think that although we're not really husband and wife, we've known each other for so long and can be considered very good friends. You've helped me a lot in business, and we have a very pleasant working relationship. We should be able to say whatever we want to each other."

Zhao Yi said, "That young master Wang is not a good person. I'm afraid you'll be deceived by him."

Jiang Bai: "Why didn't you just tell me directly?"

“I told you,” Zhao Yi muttered, looking down, “but you wouldn’t listen. You still go looking for him every day.”

Jiang Bai, with his sharp ears, heard Zhao Yi's words clearly and said, both amused and exasperated, "Where did I go looking for him? Wasn't he looking for me?"

"Besides, we don't see each other every day."

Zhao Yi looked up: "Is that the point? Or can't you tell that he's interested in you?"

"I think someone as smart as you must have figured it out. So why aren't you distancing yourself from him? Have you fallen for him?"

As soon as the last five words were uttered, Zhao Yi felt as if his heart was being torn apart.

He unconsciously clutched his chest, feeling the air around him thinning, making it hard to breathe. He stared intently at Jiang Bai, wanting to know his answer, yet also afraid.

Jiang Bai laughed: "How could that be!"

Do I look like the kind of person who likes that kind of man?

Zhao Yi breathed a slight sigh of relief: "Then why don't you let him leave since he comes here every day?"

“He’s a guest, and he didn’t do anything inappropriate. What can I say?” Jiang Bai shrugged. “I can’t tell him, ‘Young Master Wang, eyes don’t lie. You’re completely captivated by me. A married woman like me is especially attractive to you, isn’t she? It’s a pity I already have a husband,’ can I?”

"This is so ordinary, yet so confident!"

Zhao Yi had no idea where all those theories she was spouting came from.

Jiang Bai said, "In short, I treated him as an ordinary customer. Although I did business with him, I didn't take advantage of him or force him to buy or sell. In my eyes, he was no different from anyone else on the street."

"But you, I don't understand why you care about him so much?"

As a woman, it's common for her to be flirted with by men in the business world, and she has the ability to retaliate and instill fear in them.

Zhao Yi never worried that she would suffer any injustice. Sometimes, if he found out by chance that she was being ostracized, he would at most lend a hand to her behind her back.

This is the first time this person has acted so strangely, so hostile to her guests, and even done something mindless because of it.

Jiang Bai couldn't help but ask, "Are you jealous?"

Zhao Yi took a deep breath and finally nodded: "Yes, I am jealous."

"I don't want him near you."
