Chapter 90 Business Crisis

After Wang Linlin gave birth, Jiang Bai felt a significant weight lifted off his shoulders.

She no longer needed to run to the government office every day. After unloading the cargo, Wang Linlin would no longer be in any danger, and she no longer needed to be by her side all the time.

She had just relaxed and spent two days drinking milk tea at a milk tea shop when, on the third day, another incident occurred.

Jiang Bai frowned and asked Tian Rou, "What happened?"

Tian Rou had fine beads of sweat on her forehead, but her expression remained calm, and she spoke clearly, word by word.

She said, "The milk vendors we signed with were working very well, but I don't know why they suddenly want to raise prices and refuse to pay. They won't be delivering milk here tomorrow."

Jiang Bai's expression was serious.

All the suppliers she works with for her milk tea shop were the ones she found when she first opened the shop. She needed large quantities, the prices were reasonable, and she had a very pleasant working relationship with each of them.

Especially the milk shop. Jiang Bai clearly remembered that the owner was a pot-bellied middle-aged man in his forties. He was a distant relative of the village chief. After the village chief heard that she was inquiring about the milk source, he specially found her to chat and recommended his relative.

Jiang Bai also went to the site to see it. The boss had contracted a small hillside to run a cattle farm. Although it was called a small hillside, it was actually not small. Dozens of cattle were leisurely grazing on it. His wife and several sons were watching over it. They didn't hire anyone, because hiring people would be too costly.

Jiang Bai had a so-so impression of the boss, but a very good impression of his wife. The man was very enthusiastic, and seeing that she was a girl, he brought her a big bowl of boiled milk with a lot of sugar in it.

When Jiang Bai took the bowl, he accidentally touched her fingers. The touch was as rough as sandpaper; these were the hands of a hardworking person.

She booked this shop that very day, and after paying the deposit, she spent a long time telling the owner, "Buy your wife a nice dress."

The patched area on his wife's outfit was more than the clothes themselves.

The shopkeeper grinned from ear to ear and nodded hurriedly, saying, "Buy them all, buy them all. They were dirty when they were herding cattle, so they weren't wearing them."

Jiang Bai turned to Tian Rou and asked, "Did he say what the reason was? Otherwise, he could have given us a raise."

“He wants to double the price,” Tian Rou said with a troubled expression. “When asked why, he wouldn’t say. He doesn’t seem like he’s short of money.”

Tian Rou has a sharp eye. She said that since it doesn't seem like someone is short of money, it's probably nothing serious.

Jiang Bai said, "It's good that nothing bad has happened." He still has four sons, the eldest of whom is only ten years old.

The two paused for a moment, and Tian Rou whispered, "Sister, what should we do? If we don't secure a milk source soon, the milk tea shop will have to close tomorrow."

"Don't be nervous." Jiang Bai quickly patted Tian Rou's back to comfort her.

For no other reason than that Tian Rou never called Jiang Bai "sister" in the store, always keeping things strictly business. She would even call Jiang Cheng, who came to pick her up, "Manager Jiang." Now that she had uttered "sister," Jiang Bai knew she was truly panicked.

Jiang Bai said, "It's alright, I'll go over and see what's going on."

She found a horse-drawn carriage and had the driver take her back to the village where she had previously ordered milk, and found the small hill where she had grazed the cattle.

It was no longer the landlady and the children herding cattle; instead, a few lazy men were guarding the hillside, clearly hired by the owner.

Seeing Jiang Bai approach, the steward, with a shrewd look on his face, stepped forward and asked, "Young lady, is there anything I can help you with?"

Jiang Bai smiled at him: "I'm looking for Boss Zhao."

The manager hesitated for a moment, then asked, "And you are?"

“Tell him my name is Jiang Bai, and he will come to see me.”

After saying that, Jiang Bai nodded to the other person and returned to the carriage.

The driver rubbed his hands together and asked, "Master Jiang, is this man coming back?"

"He will." Jiang Bai warmed his hands with a hand warmer, his tone certain. "Look at this herd of cattle on the mountain, there are quite a few more than when I last came."

Who would complain about having too much money?

The driver nodded: That's true, who wouldn't want to miss the God of Wealth!

Although Jiang Bai spoke with such certainty, this Boss Zhao made Jiang Bai wait for a full hour before leisurely arriving at the scene.

Jiang Bai's lips were pale, whether from the cold or from anger, and he said, "Boss Zhao is quite impressive. I wonder what important matter could have taken you so long."

Boss Zhao was very sincere, rubbing his hands together and apologizing with a smile: "I'm really sorry, Boss Jiang, I have some things to take care of at home."

He didn't take Jiang Bai to his house to discuss it; instead, he went directly to a small restaurant that was quite far away and asked for a private room.

The restaurant owner seemed to know Mr. Zhao well, and directly led him to a private room. A beautiful woman was waiting inside. When she saw Jiang Bai come in, she probably didn't expect the visitor to be a woman. Her smile froze for a moment, but she quickly recovered and greeted him with a smile.

She looked at Boss Zhao and said, half coquettishly and half reproachfully, "This must be Boss Jiang, right? Why didn't you tell me she was such a beautiful woman?"

Jiang Bai replied coldly, "I wouldn't dare."

Boss Zhao didn't notice Jiang Bai's strange expression. His attention was entirely on the beautiful woman. When she approached, he put his arm around her waist and laughed, "Master Jiang doesn't rely on his looks, he relies on his talent. Unlike you, who can't do anything."

The beautiful woman lightly punched him and said with a smile, "I think you're just afraid I'll be jealous. Little do you know, beautiful women always admire each other. Don't you agree, Mr. Jiang?"

Jiang Bai lowered his eyes, his lips pressed tightly together.

Seeing that Jiang Bai didn't respond, the beautiful woman wasn't annoyed or angry. She said, "Look at me, I've been talking non-stop and have forgotten my manners. Master Jiang, please sit down."

Boss Zhao gave a dry laugh and followed suit.

Upon hearing this, Jiang Bai nodded and sat down at the head of the table.

Boss Zhao's eyes darkened for a moment, then he pretended to be nonchalant and sat down next to Jiang Bai.

The beautiful woman stood next to Boss Zhao, first pouring him a cup of tea, then going around to Jiang Bai and pouring him a cup as well.

Jiang Bai didn't drink. She asked, "You've been delayed for so long, has something happened at home?"

"It's nothing," Yingying replied. "It's just that I suddenly felt unwell before leaving the house. Old Zhao was worried about me, so he called a doctor over, which is why I was delayed."

As she spoke, she touched her stomach and poured herself another cup of tea: "Master Jiang, I apologize to you with tea instead of wine."

Jiang Bai didn't drink it.

Mr. Zhao drank half a cup of tea before putting it down, nodding and saying, "A verbal apology won't do; you have to treat Master Jiang to a good meal."

After saying that, he turned to Jiang Bai and said, "Master Jiang, don't let the size of this restaurant fool you, the food is really delicious. It's owned by Yingying's brother..."
