The ward fell silent, and the atmosphere became somewhat awkward.
Wen Hangxing looked at Lin Yitang fiddling with her phone on the hospital bed, his heart torn between his conscience and his desires. "Ms. Lin, I'm sorry. I shouldn't have let you go alone in the bar."
Lin Yitang replied nonchalantly, "Alright, it's not your fault. You can't follow me to the bathroom, or you'd be a pervert."
Wen Hangxing lowered his head and said nothing.
Lin Yitang threw away his phone and asked, "Were you punished by your dad?"
Wen Hangxing still said nothing.
Lin Yitang didn't force him, but just called Wen Zeli directly. Soon, a man's low voice came from the other end, "What's wrong?"
Lin Yitang glanced at Wen Hangxing and asked without emotion, "Did you scold him?"
Wow, here comes someone to support me.
Wen Zeli quickly signed the document with one hand while freeing up his mind to speak, "Did he complain to you?"
"No, it's just that he's been acting a little strange lately, often crying in my ward in the middle of the night."
There was a softness in Lin Yitang's tone that he himself didn't even notice.
Wen Zeli paused, "If he disturbs your rest, just have him thrown out. Didn't I have security guards outside the door?"
Lin Yitang was speechless. "Come on, you're getting more and more ridiculous. That incident wasn't his fault in the first place. It was that man's fault. You don't have to be too harsh on Hangxing. He's still a child after all."
Wen Zeli laughed at the last part. Wen Hangxing often called him a hypocrite, but wasn't he also a man of few words, skilled at disguising himself? Wen Zeli had never heard of a seventeen-year-old in their circle. What kind of child? A twelve-year-old who went to a military camp to train and then crippled an adult?
"Um?"
Lin Yitang didn't receive his consent for a long time, so he asked doubtfully, "Are you listening?"
Wen Zeli didn't say he agreed or disagreed, but turned around and brought up another matter, "What do you want to do with the man who harassed you that day?"
What else can I do? Send him to the police station.
Lin Yitang fell silent, and suddenly remembered that this was an unconventional world where money and power were the hard currencies. Did Wen Zeli mean that this man had a conflict of interest with him, so he wanted her to settle the matter privately?
After thinking about it, Lin Yitang shook his head again. No, Wen Zeli is not that kind of person.
Wen Zeli said softly, "Okay, I'll do as you say."
Lin Yitang felt even more puzzled and looked at Wen Hangxing, who was eavesdropping on their conversation with his ears perked up. "What did your father mean by that just now?"
Wen Hangxing glanced at Lin Yitang, feeling helpless. What else could it mean? This man had escaped a disaster.
Seeing that Wen Hangxing ignored her, Lin Yitang didn't care. She frowned and thought about Wen Zeli's intention.
Seeing her extremely distressed look, Wen Hangxing sighed: Forget it, if Ms. Lin knew those dirty tricks, she would probably be even more troubled. Besides, although Ms. Lin sometimes looked stupid, which made him angry and worried that she was being bullied, he had to admit that this kind of pure kindness was extremely attractive.
After Wen Zeli hung up the phone, he scribbled a few words on the document and then put the pen on the table with a "pop". With this sound, the originally silent space quickly became lively as if it had received some signal.
Wen Zeli stood up from the leather seat, the dark yellow light shining on his handsome profile, which was somewhat different from the usual restlessness buried deep in his flesh and blood.
He was in a dim space at the moment. The dark wall paint and scarlet carpet had nothing to do with the layout of the office. There was a damp smell in the air, like a deterrent to intruders posed by a place hidden in a corner that never saw the sun all year round, and then there was a familiar smell of blood.
Wen Zeli looked at the man lying on the ground with blood all over his face, and signaled his men to help him up.
The man's eyes were full of panic as he tried to shrink back, but in the eyes of the two bodyguards who surrounded him, his strength was negligible.
Although he helped the man up, the bodyguard's actions were not gentle, but rather rough. After all, the thugs acted according to the master's wishes. The man had been in this basement for a day, but the employer's anger had not dissipated. Almost everyone speculated that this man might die here today.
The man looked at Wen Zeli as if he was looking at a demon crawling out of hell. Every scar on his body represented the inhuman torture he had endured, and all these scars were inflicted by the person in front of him.
A scream came out of the man's mouth, "Get out, you devil, get out!"
But the person being scolded always had a smile on his face, looking at him as if he were a commodity of no value, and gradually approached.
The man was even more frightened and suddenly burst into tears. "Please, I was blind and didn't know that was your wife. Mr. Wen, I beg you to spare my life."
Wen Zeli paused and walked to the left under the man's expectant gaze. Just when the man thought he was forgiven and wanted to breathe a sigh of relief, he found that Wen Zeli carefully selected a baseball bat.
The man stared blankly at the handsome man approaching him step by step. The long baseball bat, which was as thick as a man's calf, left a trail on the ground, even emitting a harsh squeaking sound, and finally stopped in front of him.
The man slowly raised his head and saw Wen Zeli suddenly smiling at him. When he was about to smile back, he suddenly felt a sharp pain in his foot.
The man wailed in pain and asked in disbelief, "Aren't you going to let me go?"
Wen Zeli smiled with satisfaction, "When did I ever say this? You have to pay a price."
The next second, the man's other leg was broken in the same way.
The bodyguard had dropped his grip on him at some point, and everyone looked at the man screaming in pain on the ground as if he were trash, but no one showed any sympathy for him.
Having seen enough of the man's ugliness, Wen Zeli threw away the bloody baseball bat and said, "Send him to the police station and let them investigate his crime of molesting women."
The bodyguard was obviously stunned for a moment, and then combined with the phone call from his employer just now, he understood the whole cause and effect.
So he looked at the first person who entered the dark room and survived and sighed: This person is quite lucky, but unfortunately his eyesight is not very good. How could he offend such a person for no reason? But at least he saved his life.
The man was now in a daze, he only knew that he could leave this hellish place, and there was a faint light in his eyes.
Unfortunately, he didn't know that what awaited him was a life worse than death.
