Chapter 101 Heartbroken

Yan Run was smiling, with a chubby face, and looked very kind; but his eyes seemed to be gleaming with hatred. He looked at Zhong Yuxiu for a long time before he spoke.

"Hello! Classmate Zhong Yuxiu." Turning to speak to Principal Xu again, he said, "I heard earlier that you accepted a closed disciple. I've also seen her from afar. Today, after a closer look, I realized she's quite pretty. To be chosen by you to be your disciple, I imagine she must be extremely talented."

The smile faded a little, not showing on his face. Principal Xu praised, "Yuxiu is a careful and hardworking child. She's only been studying with me for a little over a month, and now she's memorized all the medical books in my office. If I had met her when I was younger, I'd probably be ashamed to death."

"Hahaha, that's pretty impressive." Yan Run glanced at Zhong Yuxiu again. He couldn't believe that a person could remember so much content from medical books in more than a month; let's not say that old guy Xu was bragging for the sake of face.

"That's right! We've always known that studying medicine requires talent, especially Traditional Chinese Medicine." Principal Xu folded his hands over his stomach and said proudly, "My daughter Yuxiu is exceptionally gifted. She was born to do this. Many others are not as good as her. She's only been studying with me for a short time! Now she can even start learning to take a pulse. Once she learns how to do this, I'll teach her how to prescribe medicine step by step."

Yan Run didn't know what to say. He thought he was bragging. But he and everyone else knew who the old man was. He wouldn't brag for no reason. He figured that even if Zhong Yuxiu wasn't as good as Old Xu said, she was at least half as good.

Half of it is also amazing.

Yan Run finally began to look Zhong Yuxiu in the eye. "Now that you've said that, my son is a complete idiot. He's been learning from me for several years, but he's still the same."

Principal Xu Langsheng laughed.

"Don't say that! Classmate Chen is also very good." Although he is not as good as Yuxiu, he didn't say it, but he was secretly happy in his heart.

During the turbulent times, he suffered greatly because of his overseas connections; students deserted him one by one, and some even took advantage of his misfortune. Even now that he has returned, he has not contacted those students, and they have no nerve to contact him. All ties between them have been severed.

He originally thought that this would be his life, teaching and educating people, living a carefree life; but when he met Zhong Yuxiu, he once again thought about taking in a disciple.

Fate is often unpredictable.

Professor Yan Run rolled his eyes at him. Did he think others couldn't see how proud he was?

"Are you still going?"

"Don't worry! Let's talk while we walk."

The two of them were in the front, and Principal Xu seemed oblivious to Professor Yan's embarrassed expression, and spoke with great interest; eight out of ten of his sentences were implicitly showing off his young apprentice, which made Professor Yan's face turn black.

Zhong Yuxiu and Chen Xuebin followed behind, feeling helpless and amused.

"Student Zhong, Principal Xu and my teacher are like this. Whenever we meet, we can't help but bickering." Chen Xuebin said helplessly, showing his good temper to the fullest.

If she hadn't specifically observed Chen Xuebin's eyes, she would have believed it.

Chen Xuebin's eyes are deep and cunning, unfathomable, and the emotions that can be seen are the side of him that he is willing to show.

Zhong Yuxiu said calmly: "I understand that friends have their own way of getting along with each other; but, has Professor Yan often behaved like this in front of President Xu before?" She felt as if President Xu was deliberately taking revenge.

Chen Xuebin smiled and said, "It's true."

"No wonder." After hearing some of Principal Xu's experiences, she felt miserable, really miserable; Professor Yan kept showing off his apprentice, it would be strange if Principal Xu didn't remember him, and he would seize the opportunity to take revenge.

Principal Xu must have been thinking, "I'm letting you show off. Who doesn't have an apprentice? My apprentice is more talented than yours. Let's see how you can show off in the future."

"The older generation likes to come this way. I often go with the teacher to see patients and meet his friends. When they meet, they often proudly show off their juniors or apprentices. You will get used to it once you see it more often." Chen Xuebin said softly.

Zhong Yuxiu remained noncommittal. She said that old people who like to show off do so because they have something to show off. When they are old, their only pleasure is to see the success of their younger generations. When someone succeeds, they like to talk about it. Over time, they naturally keep talking about this successful younger generation.

Even if some elderly people don’t have such a habit, they will unconsciously want to show off once they hear it too much.

"Comrade Zhong, can I ask you something?"

"Sure, ask."

Chen Xuebin asked, "I heard from the teacher that you studied at Hua University?"

"Yes, I studied physics at Hua University." Zhong Yuxiu looked up at him. "Are you so curious about the fact that I studied at Hua University?"

"Not really." Chen Xuebin pretended to be embarrassed. Seeing that she didn't respond for a long time and didn't give him a way out, he had no choice but to find a way out. "You're doing well in Hua University, so why did you want to transfer to medical school? Your major is physics. After graduation, doing research and studying a topic is better than becoming a doctor. If you're embarrassed, don't answer."

Zhong Yuxiu moved her hand, which was hanging at her side, and rubbed the pads of her index finger and thumb. She glanced at him inconspicuously and said, "There's nothing to hide. I came here because I wanted to study medicine."

"My teacher said that you were personally recommended by President Guo of the Physics Department at Hua University?"

"Yeah." Zhong Yuxiu had a plan in mind and answered him, "I have completed my studies at Huazhong University of Science and Technology, and I am not leaving Huazhong University of Science and Technology."

Chen Xuebin narrowed his eyes slightly, but didn't show it on his face. He asked, "You finished your coursework so quickly? You're amazing! I remember your physics department has a five-year program, and it's only been two semesters. How did you finish it?"

"It's not bad. I'm not the only one at Hua University who finished my coursework ahead of time. It's not surprising."

Is that okay?

Chen Xuebin: “…”

"Are there any other people at Hua University who have also completed their studies early?"

"Yes, he's from another department, not the Physics Department." Yuxiu slowed down her pace, falling far behind the two professors. She looked up at Chen Xuebin with a blank look in her eyes, and the words that came out of her mouth were enough to make people vomit blood. "Isn't there anyone in the medical school who finishes their studies early?"

Myocardial infarction!

Chen Xuebin covered his chest, feeling hurt.

"You can learn the knowledge in the textbooks on your own. There's no need to follow the professor's instructions. If you don't understand something, feel free to ask the professor. We are the first group to be admitted to university, and time is very tight. The most important thing is to finish our studies quickly and go out to build our country."

Chen Xuebin looked back at her with a dark look in his eyes. "I thought so too. Unfortunately, I don't have a smart brain. I can't finish my studies early and then study other majors like you."

"It's okay. The early bird catches the worm. You can do it if you work hard." Zhong Yuxiu said to him indifferently. Chen Xuebin couldn't refute him, so he held his breath in his chest. "Comrade Zhong is right. I will work hard."
