Chapter 15 A Rich Harvest

The atmosphere at the dinner table was heavy and extremely silent.

Zhong Yuxiu and Yan Rushan's eyes met unexpectedly. Zhong Yuxiu pursed her lips slightly, indicating that he should say a few words of comfort; Yan Rushan shook his head helplessly, and his eyes softened slightly when he lowered his head.

They tacitly agreed not to speak to each other. After dinner, the male educated youth gathered their energy to clear the dishes and clean the house. Sun Ruhong and Jiang Mei simply washed up, went back to the house and lay down.

"Sister Ruhong, Sister Jiangmei, please get up and talk. It will be uncomfortable to lie down right after eating." Zhong Yuxiu walked to Jiangmei's bedside.

Jiang Mei raised her eyes and asked, "What did you say?"

"Let's talk about what I want to do after college. I want to be a great scientific researcher." Go back to my old job.

"Then you have to work hard. Scientific research is not easy."

Sun Ruhong turned her head and said, "Yuxiu is smart and has a good brain. She is also strong. As long as Yuxiu is willing to work hard, there will be no problem." There were seven people reviewing at the Youth League Institute. They enjoyed the IQ crushing from Zhong Yuxiu and Yan Rushan every day and had become numb to it.

"Yes, I'm quite smart, I can definitely do it." Zhong Yuxiu's face was bright. "What about you two sisters, what are your dreams?"

"As for me..." Jiang Mei pondered for a long time, then shook her head under the expectant gazes of the two. "The notice hasn't arrived yet, so who knows what I can do in the future."

Sun Ruhong lay on the bed and sighed, "Why didn't my parents give me a smart brain?"

"Don't be discouraged! Which of the educated youth at our educated youth center hasn't reached the passing score? Brother Yan and I are just paving the way. Your admission letters will arrive sooner or later."

No matter how Zhong Yuxiu tried to persuade and comfort them, the two of them were listless; to them, anything they didn't get was unreal, and in such a negative state, they didn't even have a good New Year.

After the fifteenth day of the first lunar month, the admission letters for several people had not arrived yet. In order to avoid unnecessary trouble, Zhong Yuxiu and Yan Rushan ran around the production brigade and commune for three days to complete the household relocation and grain arrangements.

Seven days later, the admission letters of Sun Ruhong, Jiang Mei, Wang Yishan, Luo Jianmin and Feng Jianjun were delivered together. The five of them cried with joy while holding the admission letters. This letter was their life-saving straw. They had never thought of getting married in the countryside, and no matter how hard it was, they still had the ambition to return to the city.

Now, my wish has finally come true.

"Congratulations, congratulations to everyone on getting their wish come true. From now on, when you go out, you can proudly say, I am a college student, a person who has officially returned to the city."

Yuxiu bowed in a strange manner to congratulate, and several people burst out laughing. Sun Ruhong raised her hand and hit her, "You are so good, Zhong Yuxiu, you ruined our happy tears."

"That's right!" Jiang Mei wiped the tears from her eyes, raised her chin slightly, and snorted lightly, "Skinny."

Wang Yishan rarely grinned, and it was obvious that he was very happy; Luo Jianmin didn't have much of an image, and was casual and relaxed, and at this moment he was sitting on the ground and laughing heartily; Feng Jianjun was a shy person, and at this moment he lowered his head and laughed softly.

"Who am I doing this for? It's all for you. Look, look, good intentions don't get rewarded." He tapped his index finger lightly, complained, and smiled.

Wang Yishan and others shook their heads and laughed. The anxiety in their hearts disappeared at this moment, and their minds were empty, as if they had seen a bright future.

"Come, let's see what your major is and when school starts." Ten years later, the first college entrance examination was held. There were more than 5.7 million candidates and the admission rate was 5%. You can imagine how fierce the competition was. After applying for admission, some people could not get the scores and had to be transferred to other majors.

Wang Yishan smiled faintly and said, "I'm from G Province Business School, Electronic Applications, February 28th."

Feng Jianjun: "Finance at University of Province C, February 27th."

"It's my turn now. I'm from TJ Normal University, February 16th." Luo Jianmin couldn't wait to speak.

The three of them did not apply for the major they applied for, and were assigned later; Sun Ruhong enrolled in the clinical medicine department of Beijing Medical College on February 5th; Jiang Mei enrolled in the journalism and media department of Beijing Broadcasting Institute, and school started on February 8th; these two were also assigned later.

"No matter what, we got into university." Luo Jianmin was relieved to be able to leave the boring production brigade. "I'll go to the production brigade and the commune right away to get all the certificates."

Once they received the admission letter, the educated youth could complete the formalities and leave at any time.

After going to the countryside, the educated youth discovered the gap between their imagination and reality. In a strange place, xenophobia is inevitable; it is even more common for people in the production team to bully the educated youth over trivial matters. What is most frustrating is that the work points of the educated youth are not calculated the same as those of the members of the production team, and there will always be omissions.

The Yujia Production Brigade was relatively good, at least they didn't bully them in terms of work points; however, when they came to a strange place, the people in the brigade were xenophobic and did not truly accept the educated youth. There were always awkward and uncomfortable interactions between them.

"I'm going too."

"Wait for me."

When one person said he wanted to go, the others followed suit, leaving only Zhong Yuxiu and Yan Rushan in the Youth League compound.

"When does Brother Yan plan to return to Beijing?"

"What about you?" Yan Rushan asked instead of answering.

Zhong Yuxiu smiled with her starry eyes, "Today is the 22nd day of the first lunar month, there are still eleven days before school starts, and I plan to leave the day after tomorrow." She had to find a place to stay in Beijing, and she didn't want to live on campus.

"I'll go with you. It's on our way." Yan Rushan said calmly.

"Then let's go together, so we can have company; but we have to buy train tickets first, and they're hard to come by right now." Even though only 5% of the students were admitted, there were still many educated youth returning to the city.

Yan Rushan nodded slightly and said, "I'm going to the county town now."
