Chapter 375 Buying Meat at the Market

"Mr. Yan, you go to sleep first, we will feed the baby." Wang Daya said.

Yan Guofeng shook his head and said, "Bring the milk powder and feed them together. The three little ones are impatient and will cry if they can't eat." He didn't want to cry.

Wang Daya smiled and handed over a bottle, and then she and Gong Zhaodi each had a bottle; each of the three children fed one, and all had food to eat and drink.

Yan Ruhai squatted in front of the crib, looking at this and that, "My little nephew is such a big eater! He can finish such a big bottle of milk in one go."

"They're six months old now, so it's normal for them to eat a lot." Yan Guofeng rolled his eyes at him. "You and your brother ate a lot back then, too, but it was your mother who fed you back then."

"Really? I don't know. I haven't seen it." He couldn't admit it anyway. He reached out and poked his nephew's chubby cheek. The more he poked, the more amused he became. The three little guys were impatient. Whenever they were poked, they would glare at the culprit, which made Yan Ruhai laugh, "Hey, look, they're still glaring at me."

Yan Guofeng slapped his hand and said, "Why are you poking? The baby's facial muscles are loose and it's teething time. He loves to drool now, and you keep poking him. He will become a drooling baby in the future."

"Is that so? Then I'll poke you less." He finally calmed down.

Yan Guofeng was too lazy to say anything to him, "Okay, go take a shower and go to bed first, I'll go to bed later."

"Is there anything else you need to do? I can help you." He became stupid after a while after coming back.

"Can you soothe children?"

Yan Ruhai: “…” It hurts.

"You don't know how to take care of children, why are you joining in the fun?" Every word was like a knife, and Yan Ruhai retreated silently.

Wang Daya, Gu Lingguo and the other two found it funny. Yan Ruhai's personality had not changed, he was still as playful as ever.

"Mr. Yan, you go to sleep first, we will take care of you. Comrade Gu Lingguo, Fang Guozhong and I will go out for a while, so let Comrade Gong look after the child." Wang Daya said.

Yan Guofeng nodded, "That's fine. Once he falls asleep, someone will be able to watch over him."

He is not a harsh person. As long as his great-grandchildren live a good life, he will not mistreat his children. He has no objection to Wang Daya and others going out to do things.

After Yan Ruhai came out of the shower, Yan Guofeng also went to wash up, and the grandfather and grandson went back to their room together.

Only Wang Daya and others were left in the hall. Wang Daya and Gong Zhaodi coaxed the children to sleep and took them back to their rooms to avoid being disturbed. Children who were woken up would be unreasonable and would be very irritable when they woke up.

"It's paid back, let's go." After leaving the house, Wang Daya took the money and bills, and she and Gu Lingguo and Fang Guozhong each carried a basket and left the house.

I left the compound and walked all the way to the vegetable market. It was noon, and there were few people in the market, only vendors selling meat and vegetables.

After walking around inside, I only found a stall selling beef.

Wang Daya picked up a piece of beef and looked at it. The stall owner greeted her warmly, "Sister, which part of the beef do you want to buy? What dish do you want to use it in?"

“Are your cows healthy?”

"It must be healthy, but its leg was broken and its family had no choice. So we killed it and sold it to raise some money to buy another cow." The stall owner was a middle-aged man wearing patched clothes, and there were a few young men behind the stall.

The spot they occupied was not the best in the market, it could only be considered a corner; perhaps it was because no one was here at noon that they were able to occupy a spot.

"When was it killed?" Wang Daya repeatedly checked the quality of the beef.

The stall owner smiled and said, "Don't worry, it was just killed this morning. I only brought half of it over, and the other half hasn't been pulled over yet. You can see the meat is still fresh. You can tell by the color of the beef that it's not sick."

"How much is one pound?"

"One dollar and eighty cents a pound, is that okay with you?" the stall owner said. Several young men behind him looked over and said, "Dad, grandma said it's two dollars and fifty cents a pound."

The stall owner glared at them and said, "Two dollars and fifty cents is too expensive. I've asked around, and one dollar and eighty cents is the market price."

"You are honest."

"Hey, how dare you talk to me like that?" The stall owner sneered at them and said to Wang Daya, "Sister, do you think this price is acceptable?"

Wang Daya didn't take their coquettishness seriously, she was just afraid that she would bargain with her. She could only say that they were a little clever; she had been dealing with meat and vegetable vendors for many years and had seen a lot of the tricks there.

"Stop pretending, one dollar and eighty cents is one dollar and eighty cents, give me ten kilograms."

"Okay, please wait a moment. What about the two behind you? Would you like some?" The stall owner picked up the machete and asked while cutting the meat.

"They are with me. By the way, give me two beef bones. Do you have any beef tripe? If you have it, give it to me too." Wang Daya asked.

The stall owner nodded. "Yes, we're here. We just opened a short while ago. I'll give you two beef bones later. They'll make delicious soup."

"Thank you." Wang Daya was very satisfied when she saw that the part of beef he had chopped was thigh meat. "Give me a few ribs. They would be great for braised beef."

"no problem."

The stall owner swiftly chopped off everything she wanted, and considering the size of their baskets, he also chopped the beef into pieces that could fit into the baskets. He then weighed everything and found that it weighed more than ten pounds, not including the beef bones.

"Eighteen pounds."

"Comrade Gu, Comrade Fang, each of you can carry some." Wang Daya made way, and Gu Lingguo and Fang Guozhong walked forward with baskets.

The stall owner put them on and asked Wang Daya, "Sister, are you working for that cadre's family?"

Wang Daya frowned, "You sell the meat, we buy the meat, and the payment is in full."

"No, I don't mean anything else. I just have a lot of beef at home, and I wanted to ask if your neighbors want any. We rely on this cow to buy a calf." The stall owner waved his hands hurriedly. He didn't see anything wrong with Wang Daya. He saw that the two people behind him were tall and strong, and they must be no ordinary people.

Wang Daya's frown relaxed as she said, "No one wants it. If you want to sell it quickly, you can take the beef to various restaurants. There's an Aiguo Restaurant near the military compound. The people there are quite kind. You can go look for it."

"Okay, thank you, big sister."

The stall owner was smiling happily. After sending the people away, he quickly turned around and told his sons to go home and get the remaining beef, while he stayed here to continue selling meat.

Wang Daya bought another five pounds of pork and some mushrooms, bamboo shoots, pickles, and vegetables before walking back; the three of them had their hands full. Gu Lingguo and Fang Guozhong had the most and heaviest baskets, with most of the meat in their baskets. Wang Daya mostly carried vegetables, so she was quite relaxed.

Back in the compound, Gong Zhaodi came out of the house and asked, "Did you buy it?"

"We bought a lot, and we were lucky. A farmer's cow broke its leg and couldn't plow the fields, so we killed it and sold it." After Wang Daya finished speaking in detail, the four of them delivered the things to the kitchen and started working again.

The beef and pork need to be processed, and the mushrooms and bamboo shoots are dry and need to be soaked in advance; otherwise, the mushrooms and bamboo shoots will be too dry and not tasty.
