Chapter 396 Purchase

"Are you the village chief of Hongxing Village? If so, we are looking for you." Wang Daya said with a hearty smile.

Gong Zhaodi said, "We are from the compound at the foot of the mountain. Our master's surname is Yan, and we are his family's nannies. We came here first to take care of things."

"That's right." Wang Daya nodded and looked at Village Chief Wang. "My name is Wang Daya, and her family name is Gong Zhaodi."

"My last name is Wang too. Maybe we were from the same family five hundred years ago." Village chief Wang was relieved and spoke with a smile.

Wang Daya nodded cheerfully, "Maybe it's true. Then should I call you Uncle Wang or Brother Wang?"

"Call me brother, it's more intimate."

"Okay, Brother Wang, do you have some free time now? We want to go to the county town to buy some things; but we are not familiar with the roads there, nor are we familiar with the places where things can be bought and sold. We are in an unfamiliar place, so we have no choice but to ask for your help."

Village Chief Wang smiled heartily. "No problem. How about I let my wife go to the county town with you? I'll drive the ox cart to take you there. It'll be a quick trip back and forth."

"Okay, thank you, Brother Wang, and thank you, Sister Wang." Wang Daya spoke cheerfully. One of them wanted to build a good relationship, and the other wanted to win over the relationship. It can be said that they had a very pleasant conversation.

Village chief Wang called his wife over. She had a dark and yellow face and most of her hair was white. She had a dull look and looked like an honest woman.

"Sister Wang, is it okay for me to call you that?" Village Chief Wang asked with a smile.

Wang Daya smiled back, "Sure, feel free to do as you please. I'll need your help in the village in the future."

"Of course they are. They live in the village, so they are from Red Star Village. It's only natural for them to take care of them." Village Chief Wang introduced them, "His mother, this is the nanny from the family at the foot of the mountain. She's here to take care of the household first. They're here because they need a lot of things. I'll take you to the county town in the oxcart later. You take the two older sisters to the county town to buy things, and I'll guard the oxcart."

Mrs. Wang smiled and nodded. "Okay, no big deal. When are you leaving?"

Village Chief Wang glanced at Wang Daya and the other two and smiled, "Let's go now. The sooner we go, the sooner we can come back."

"Okay, we're running out of salt, so I'll go buy some." Before, someone from their family went to clean the yard of the family at the foot of the mountain. They earned 15 yuan in three days, and with the money their youngest son sent back every month, the family had some savings.

Wang Daya and Gong Zhaodi were invited to sit in the yard, while Village Chief Wang drove the ox cart over and Mrs. Wang went back into the house to get the money.

Mrs. Wang took out the money and, seeing that Village Chief Wang had not returned yet, poured each of them a glass of water and chatted with them.

"Girls, drink some water."

"Thank you, Mrs. Wang." Neither of them refused. If they refused the water that was offered to them, it might cause people to think too much.

Mrs. Wang shook her head and sat down on a vacant stool nearby. "You're welcome. The village is inconvenient to get in and out of, so why did you decide to live here? I see your host family is quite wealthy. They drive a car and wear fashionable and nice clothes. They're really well-dressed."

There was a hint of envy in his words, and when he thought back, his eyes were shining.

Wang Daya smiled but did not respond.

Gong Zhaodi said, "We don't know what's going on in the master's house. We're only responsible for cooking and doing housework, and we don't care about anything else."

"That's right. As a nanny, your most important task is to take good care of the host family." They were worried. Mrs. Wang had lived for so many years, so how could she not see it? "I have a question. Don't mind me asking it."

"You ask." Wang Daya said.

Mrs. Wang smiled a little embarrassedly and asked, "I don't know how much you make a month. I heard from my relatives that the salary for being a nanny is quite high. Some families can earn over fifty dollars a month, just cleaning, cooking and so on."

"It's not that simple. There are different types of nannies. Some nannies are only responsible for cooking, some are only responsible for cleaning; some are hired to take care of children, or take care of the whole family. For such separate jobs, the salary will not be very high." Wang Daya only mentioned it without elaborating.

"There are so many tricks in it." Mrs. Wang continued with a smile: "Then you..."

"The bullock cart is coming, mother, the two girls, hurry out and leave."

Village chief Wang’s sudden plan made it impossible for Mrs. Wang to say what she wanted to ask. She could only stand up and ask the two of them to go out together.

After leaving the courtyard, the gate of Village Chief Wang's house was still open. Wang Daya asked, "Brother Wang, Sister Wang, isn't the courtyard closed?"

"No need to lock it. My daughter-in-law, son, and grandson are home, but they're not here right now." Mrs. Wang replied, "Besides, who in the village would dare to come in and steal things? If you're caught, it's no joke."

There are only about a dozen households in the village. Everyone knows each other well and has developed a tacit understanding over the years.

Wang Daya nodded and said, "Let's go."

Climbing onto the ox cart, Wang Daya and Gong Zhaodi sat in the back, Village Chief Wang drove the cart, and Wang Dasao sat next to Village Chief Wang.

After walking for more than half an hour, it was already past three in the afternoon when they arrived at the county town. Village chief Wang parked the ox cart outside the county town, and Mrs. Wang led the people into the county town.

The county town is not big, but it still has the necessary facilities, such as supply and marketing cooperatives, vegetable markets, and shops selling all kinds of goods.

Mrs. Wang was familiar with the area and took them to buy oil, salt, sauce, vinegar and various seasonings; Wang Daya and Gong Zhaodi asked her to lead the way to the place where meat, vegetables, rice and flour were sold, and they ordered hundreds of kilograms of rice and flour, pots, pans, chopsticks, clothes drying racks, chicken and duck seedlings, and various vegetable seeds.

After all the purchases, the more than 200 yuan given by Yan Rushan was used up, and Wang Daya and Gong Zhaodi also put in dozens of yuan.

Sitting on the ox cart, the back of which was piled with things, Mrs. Wang patted her chest, trying to calm down her surprise.

Village chief Wang was also quite surprised. The things in that ox cart were worth more than two or three hundred yuan each. They were too ignorant. They could not imagine the life of rich people. Even if they lived in the village, their lives were the best in the village.

After returning to Hongxing Village, Village Chief Wang parked his car outside the yard at the foot of the mountain and helped them move everything into the kitchen with Mrs. Wang.

This was the first time that Village Chief Wang and Mrs. Wang came to the yard after the renovation. The road was smooth and clean, especially when they entered the yard and saw the furnishings inside; it was better and more exquisite and beautiful than the one decorated by the landlord decades ago.

After walking out of the Yan family yard, Village Chief Wang and Mrs. Wang's steps were light; when the ox cart returned, Village Chief Wang went back to say hello to his wife.

"Go spend more time with the family at the foot of the mountain. They're a very special family."

"You've just found out they're not simple people." Mrs. Wang retorted, adding, "You said they built the house so badly, if they crack down on it again in the future..."

"Imagination." Village Chief Wang shook his head decisively. "Who is he? He's seen a lot in the outside world. How could he not think of this?"

Mrs. Wang finally felt relieved and nodded repeatedly, "That's true. They are more experienced than us country folk. But, how should we get along with them from now on?"

"Let's take a look first." Village chief Wang couldn't think of a solution for the moment, so he could only postpone it and wait a minute.
