After seeing off the dean, Zhong Yuxiu walked into the laboratory. She first looked at the laboratory equipment, then the blood from the influenza patients prepared, and all the experimental materials. After counting them, she made a list of what was missing and handed it to Captain Yu.
When the missing items were delivered, Zhong Yuxiu entered the laboratory alone, while Gu Lingguo and others protected her outside; another person guarded outside the door, and the rest of them patrolled Zhong Yuxiu's laboratory to ensure her safety in all aspects.
Although Captain Yu and others were latecomers, it must be said that they were very meticulous; everything around the laboratory was monitored strictly by them, and as long as someone approached the laboratory, they would monitor and observe that person.
The Yan family lived a normal life in the deserted courtyard they rented. They rarely went out, except for Wang Daya who went out to buy groceries. At other times, they tried to stay at home.
As for Zhong Yuxiu, since the lab was sealed off from the public, Yan Rushan couldn't see her even when he came. He also learned that the hospital provided working meals, albeit somewhat unpalatable. But Zhong Yuxiu was different. Their meals were cooked to order, and while they certainly weren't as good as Feng Zheng's, they weren't bad at all. Consequently, Yan Rushan gave up delivering her meals daily. This also meant that they couldn't see each other during Zhong Yuxiu's research.
On the second day after Zhong Yuxiu entered the laboratory, Mr. Wang came to the house.
"Please come in, old man." Wang Daya opened the door to welcome the old man, and invited him into the house as soon as she heard the purpose of his visit. Yesterday, when Mr. Yan came back, he told them that if an old man named Wang came, he should be invited into the house directly.
Old Mr. Wang nodded slightly and walked into the courtyard; he was led by Wang Daya to the main hall in the back house.
"Mr. Wang, please sit down for a moment. I'll serve you some tea."
"No need to serve tea. I'm here to see Mr. Yan. I'll leave after I'm done talking." Mr. Wang waved his hand and told her not to go.
Wang Daya smiled at this and said, "Okay, Mr. Yan is taking care of the children. We have several children at home. I will go and call Mr. Yan over. Mr. Wang, please wait for a moment."
"Um."
Mr. Wang nodded slightly and said no more.
Wang Daya left the main hall and went to the children's room, where Gong Zhaodi was feeding the children and wiping their mouths; Yan Rushan was standing beside them to intimidate the three children. With him around, the children would somewhat restrain their lively temperament, like Li Zhen.
Although he would still deliberately tease his father Yan Rushan, he was also somewhat afraid of his father; therefore, when Yan Rushan was present, he would restrain his nature to some extent.
"Mr. Yan, Mr. Wang is here."
"Mr. Wang, are you the owner of this mansion?" Yan Rushan turned his head and asked.
Wang Daya nodded. "Yes, that's Mr. Wang. Do you want to go see him now?"
"Let's go now. Is there any tea at home?" Yan Rushan stood up and asked.
"Yes, we bought some tea when we went shopping, but it's not as good as the ones used at home in Beijing."
That was enough. "Make some tea and bring it over."
"OK."
Wang Daya watched Yan Rushan leave, then turned to look at Gong Zhaodi, who was looking back at her. "Comrade Gong, I'll go make some tea first. I'll trouble you with the children."
"It's not a problem. You go about your business. I'll keep an eye on them." The children were not on the bed. There was a mattress on the open space in front of the bed, and the children played on the mattress without worrying about falling. The only trouble was that they loved to crawl and move, so I had to be careful not to let them lie down on the mattress.
It just so happened that she had finished feeding the child with the food in her hand, and Gong Zhaodi responded with a smile.
Wang Daya smiled and walked out of the room. She went to the kitchen and found the tea set and tea leaves she had bought. There was also some boiling water that Feng Zheng had just boiled. Feng Zheng was just filling a thermos with hot water, so there was no need to boil water. Wang Daya made tea and brought it to the main room in the back house on a tray.
After putting a whole generation in front of each person, Wang Daya smiled and turned to leave; only Yan Rushan and Mr. Wang were left in the main hall.
Mr. Wang glanced at Yan Rushan, pondered for a moment, and said, "Mr. Yan's family is quite large."
"It's not so bad as I have old and young at home." Yan Rushan asked, "Has Mr. Wang figured it out?"
"Well, we'll sell the old house, and even the yard we live in now. We don't need to add much, just give us a reasonable price." After a pause, Mr. Wang smiled bitterly and said, "But I have one condition."
"Tell me first."
If it's not difficult, he will do it.
Mr. Wang said, "We don't want to live in Province G anymore. From your accent, you sound like you're from Beijing. Beijing is the heart of the country, and my wife and I want to live there. Once we get there, we need to buy a house. We're unfamiliar with the area, so we need help finding a place."
"That's no problem. I have several small courtyards in Shangjing. If you can afford them, I can transfer them directly to you." He agreed immediately. Yan Rushan had several courtyards under his name, and the other properties were under Zhong Yuxiu's name.
Just those few yards of his could be sold for tens of thousands each now.
Mr. Wang nodded in satisfaction. "Then we'll leave with you, okay?"
"Of course, but we may not be able to leave for a while due to work reasons. If you and the old lady are willing to wait, we naturally don't mind taking you with us." Yan Rushan understood clearly that it would be okay to take two more people with us. After arriving in Shangjing, he would arrange accommodation for them; then he would show them houses, and once they settled down, they would be fine.
"It's all good if you agree. I just hope you can keep your word. My wife and I are two old people, and if you don't keep your word, there's nothing we can do about it."
What Mr. Wang said was a bit offensive, but Yan Rushan didn't mind. The two old men had the ability to survive; however, their ability to protect themselves was very weak. Once he went back on his word, the two old men could only sigh.
"Don't worry, I never regret what I said."
"Remember what you said." Mr. Wang looked at him deeply and said, "Find some time to go with me to the street office to handle the property ownership certificate. After the transfer, you pay the money and this old house will be yours."
Yan Rushan pondered for a moment and said, "Let's do it now. I'm free at home for the time being. I'll see if you can arrange to come over."
"Can."
Both men were quick-witted, one speaking boldly and the other responding. Yan Rushan, with his letter of introduction and household registration certificate, went with Mr. Wang to his home. They waited for Mr. Wang to obtain the property ownership certificate and then went to the nearby street office. There was no such thing as a "card holder" for out-of-town buyers these days, nor was there a rule about that; anyone coming to buy a house was naturally welcome.
In a few years, the supply of housing cards will be very tight; the most difficult place is Beijing. If you have not lived in Beijing for a long time or have not paid enough taxes, you will not be able to buy a house in Beijing.
