The next day.
At dawn.
Zhong Yuxiu was sitting on the bed, yawning repeatedly. Goudan heard the noise and came over. "Master, you're up. What do you want to wear today?"
"I don't have any clothes to choose from, just pick up a cotton-padded jacket."
"You'll have clean clothes to wear soon," Goudan teased.
Zhong Yuxiu nodded seriously, "I'll have it when I get it back from abroad. The woolen coat is pretty good, but the other things are still a bit lacking. I'll go to the department store when I have time these days and buy a few matching sets."
"The master should have changed it long ago."
"Isn't it just that the timing is wrong?" At that time, she had just returned to Beijing. She didn't want to attract too much attention, so she didn't care about her clothes and just wanted to follow the crowd.
Goudan took out a thick cotton coat from the closet and placed it beside her. "Master, Goudan is going to make breakfast."
"I don't want porridge for breakfast. I want something stronger. Make me a bowl of mixed noodles."
"No problem, Master. Goudan will go down first."
Zhong Yuxiu watched Goudan open the door and go out. The door was closed again, and she changed her clothes and went downstairs. She went to the bathroom to wash up and came out. Haonan and Tian Shangguo also came back from exercising outside. Haonan was holding two oil-paper bags in his hand.
"Good morning, comrades."
"Good morning, Comrade Zhong."
"Good morning, Comrade Zhong. You get up so early." Hao Nan said.
Zhong Yuxiu pursed her lips and smiled faintly, "It's not as early as you guys."
Haonan smiled and handed the oil-paper bag to her.
"What is it?" Zhong Yuxiu looked down but didn't take it.
"We met Comrade Yan while running outside. Comrade Yan asked us to pass this to you."
Zhong Yuxiu then reached out to take it, and when she opened it, she saw that it was actually three soft white buns, each as big as a fist. They smelled like vegetable buns and sugar buns, and the taste of the sugar buns was only found in the state-owned restaurant near Hua University.
"Where are the others?"
Tian Shangguo touched his nose and said, "I'll go to the kitchen and take a look." Then he walked away.
Seeing this, Haonan also wanted to leave, but facing Comrade Zhong's inquiring gaze, he didn't know how to start.
"Forget it, I know what he did. Go wash your face." Zhong Yuxiu pursed her lips, walked away with the oil-paper bag, and sat down in the restaurant.
He left in such a hurry that he didn't even have time to say hello. He must have been very busy. He still remembered rushing over to buy her some buns. Yuxiu felt both warmed and distressed about his busy schedule.
With a soft sigh, he picked up the bun and chewed it slowly. It was sweet, sweet to the heart; it was like being immersed in warm honey water.
So this is what it feels like to fall in love with someone.
Worrying for him, feeling sad for him, feeling sweet for him, feeling lost for him, it feels like I have experienced all the seasons.
Is he like that too?
"Comrade Zhong." Haonan and Tian Shangguo came over with breakfast. Seeing her dazed look, they couldn't help but worry, "Are you okay?"
Zhong Yuxiu shook her head. "Can we have dinner now?"
"Yes, Goudan made noodles." Haonan handed a bowl to her, "It's a generous portion."
"Thanks."
"You're welcome."
The two men sat down on the chairs opposite Yuxiu. They ate quickly and Zhong Yuxiu had only eaten half of her meal when the other two had already finished.
She ate three buns with the noodle soup and felt full after eating most of the noodles; in order not to waste them, she finished the rest.
"Please sit down for a moment. We'll take the dishes to the kitchen and leave."
"I'll go upstairs."
After going upstairs to get the paper, Haonan and the other person also came out of the kitchen, and the three of them went to school.
When they reached the south gate of Hua University, Zhong Yuxiu stopped, Haonan and Tian Shangguo frowned; the person parked in front was Wan Yuning, who walked over quickly when he saw someone.
"Comrade Zhong, please go in first. We'll stop the person."
"good."
Zhong Yuxiu walked straight ahead and saw Wan Yuning coming face to face. Hao and Tian stepped forward and stopped him. Zhong Yuxiu walked around them and left quickly.
"Yuxiu, little sister..."
"Little sister, little sister, Dad wants to see you."
Haonan covered the man's mouth and said, "Shut up."
"Take the person to the side and don't block the school gate." Tian Shangguo spoke, Haonan nodded, and pulled the person to a dark alley next to Hua University before letting him go.
Wan Yuning was filled with resentment. As soon as he was released, he shouted, "What are you doing? Why did you drag me here? I came here to find Yuxiu, not you. Why did you stop me again and again?"
"Comrade Wan Yuning." Hao Nan pushed the man against the wall and pressed his shoulder with one hand.
Wan Yuning gasped and stopped shouting.
"Have you calmed down?" Haonan asked indifferently.
"Why do you do that?" He and Zhong Yuxiu passed each other again.
Haonan sneered, "Why? Why do you say?"
Wan Yuning was speechless when he thought about the news he and his father had received. These two people were the ones protecting Zhong Yuxiu; they had the right to investigate anyone close to Zhong Yuxiu, it just depended on whether Zhong Yuxiu wanted to investigate.
To put it bluntly, this was instigated by Zhong Yuxiu, or perhaps it could be said that Zhong Yuxiu did not want to see him and did not stop it.
"Comrade Zhong is living a good life now and doesn't need your so-called compensation." Tian Shangguo looked at him coldly, his whole body emitting a chilling murderous aura. "What you have done would chill anyone to the bone. Comrade Hao, go now."
Tian Shangguo turned and walked away. Haonan glanced at the person being held down and said, "Take care of yourself."
The two men left the alley one after the other. Wan Yuning squatted down on the spot, rubbing his face and sighing; if they had known this would happen, they should not have been so ruthless.
The kind and sensible Zhong Yuxiu was too well-behaved and never showed her talents; instead, she seemed a little incompetent. However, she was a girl, so it didn't matter if she was incompetent.
