Chapter 119 Panpan

A few minutes later, a nurse came out holding a little life. She smiled and handed the child to Gu Huaijin. Gu Huaijin didn't even have time to take a look at the child before asking the nurse in a panic, "How is the child's mother?"

The nurse was stunned. It was the first time she saw a father take the baby out of the house and ask the mother without even looking at it. However, she still told the mother the truth: "Congratulations, mother and child are safe!"

When Gu Huaijin heard the nurse's words, all the strength in his body seemed to be drained away, but he still stood there motionless.

The nurse was holding the child and didn't understand the situation. The child's father didn't know where to take the child. He turned around and saw an aunt standing next to him who was probably a relative of the pregnant woman, so he walked over with the child.

Mother Song looked at her son-in-law from the side. For the first time, she felt that he was stupid and dumb. She couldn't bear it so much that she took the child into her arms.

Song Zhi was quickly wheeled out of the operating room, with Gu Huaijin following closely beside him.

After Song Zhi was pushed into the ward, Gu Huaijin sat beside the bed. He didn't even bother to rest or help, but stayed beside Song Zhi motionlessly.

Song's mother returned to the ward and quickly found a quilt to wrap the child. It was cold at night and the newborn baby could not withstand the cold.

Mother Song fed the baby some more water, and when she heard the child's loud cry, she was so happy that she couldn't stop smiling.

A good voice indicates good health.

Turning her head to look at her son-in-law who was sitting motionless on the side, Mother Song walked back and handed the child to him.

"Hold the baby."

Gu Huaijin seemed to react and immediately held the child in his arms, but his movements were unfamiliar and unnatural. Mother Song had no choice but to teach him how to hold the child.

Gu Huaijin held the child in his arms and didn't dare to move. The baby was just born, and not only were his facial features wrinkled, but he also just cried.

Mother Song looked at her daughter lying on the hospital bed and had no idea how to warm up some milk powder for the child first.

Song Zhi was awakened by the crying of children. There were two children in the hospital beds, crying one after another.

The noise made her head hurt, and she slowly opened her eyes.

What caught my eye was Gu Huaijin holding the child with a very cautious look, but the child was still crying.

"You're awake. Eat something first." Song's mother noticed some movement coming from the bed, turned her head and saw Song Zhi and said with surprise.

Song Zhi was indeed hungry, but she wanted to see her child more now.

"Let me see the child."

Gu Huaijin carefully brought the child to her.

Song Zhi then asked: "Boy or girl?"

"Boy." Gu Huaijin whispered beside her.

Song Zhi reached out to hug him, but Gu Huaijin quickly dodged. "You need to rest well now."

"Just hold him for a while, it's okay." Song Zhi felt that he was making a fuss, and the child was still crying.

Seeing her firm attitude, Gu Huaijin still carefully handed the child to her arms.

Song Zhi looked down at the boy he had given birth to after months of hard work, and his face froze visibly.

"He... is too ugly."

Song's mother walked in and heard her daughter's nonsense. She pretended to scold her, "How can a mother say that about her own child? He's just been like this since he was born. He'll be fine after a few days."

Song Zhi stuck out his tongue and changed the subject, asking, "What's the boy's name?"

Gu's father had already prepared the names, both for boys and girls, and was just waiting to decide on the name after the baby was born, whether it was a boy or a girl.

"Gu Jingchen." Meaning to treat him as a treasure.

"Then mom, please give me another nickname." Song Zhi said to his mother.

Song's mother waved her hand and said, "Just discuss it between you two."

"No, Mom, you give your grandson a name." Song Zhi winked at Gu Huaijin.

"Zhizhi is right. Mom, you should give it a nickname." Gu Huaijin quickly responded and advised.

Song's mother had actually thought about it a long time ago. Now that both of them asked her to think of one, she hesitated and said, "Pan Pan, carries the expectations of our family."

"Okay, let's call her Panpan. It's a good name, Mom." Song Zhi knew his mother very well. She often looked up the dictionary at home and must have thought of it several times. Now that the child was born, she wanted them to name themselves.

"Panpan, Panpan, this is the name grandma gave you. Do you like it?" Song Zhi said to the little one in his arms. He didn't know whether the little one understood it or not, but he stopped crying and smiled.

"Did you see that, Mom? He likes this name very much, doesn't he? Panpan."

When Song's mother was cooking at noon, she also covered two eggs for Chen Yan.

Chen Yan didn't expect that Song's mother would be so nice to her just because they shared a ward in the hospital. Eggs were not cheap in that era, and it was common for neighbors to send two eggs when there was a happy event in the family. However, Chen Yan knew that their relationship was not that good. The reason why Song's mother handed her a bowl of eggs was simply because she felt it was inconvenient to see her alone.

"Thank you, Auntie. Thank you for your trouble." Chen Yan thanked her quickly. It would be a lie to say that she was not touched. Even a stranger could do this. She didn't even look at her own mother-in-law when she came to see her.

When Song Zhi was alone, Chen Yan sighed, "I really envy you for having a son as your first child."

Song Zhi's expression turned a little unhappy when he heard her say this. She liked both sons and daughters.

"I know you might be unhappy when I say this. When I first got married, I was just like you. I thought as long as I had a child, it didn't matter whether it was a boy or a girl. But as time went by, I realized that if I had a son, not only would the neighbors and relatives respect me, but it would also give my daughter someone to rely on. At the very least, when people want to bully her, they have to think about it because she still has a younger brother to back her up."
