Chapter 53 Psychotherapy

Song Zhi understood. Isn’t this just selective amnesia?

"In his situation...is it possible that he is not fully conscious at other times?" Song Zhi asked cautiously.

The 50-year-old doctor looked at her in surprise, then after a moment's deliberation, kindly reminded her, "His condition isn't that serious. He still has the ability to discern and control himself in normal life. He only says he fainted and can't remember clearly in situations like last time."

Song Zhi smiled embarrassedly. She was a little worried! Then she asked, "Can his condition be cured?"

"Treatment is only a supplementary measure. The key is whether he can overcome his psychological barriers."

When Song Zhi returned to the ward, Gu Huaijin was packing his things.

Song Zhi hurried over to stop him and said, "What are you doing? The doctor said you need to stay here for observation for a while."

Gu Huaijin said in a deep voice, "I know my own body well. There's no need for me to stay here any longer."

Song Zhi looked at his indifferent expression and suddenly became angry. He said angrily, "If you don't want to get treatment, of course you won't get better."

Gu Huaijin paused while packing his clothes, then continued to pack without saying a word.

Seeing his expression, Song Zhi became even more annoyed. "What do you mean by not saying anything now? I told you not to pack." Song Zhi poured out the clothes from the package he had packed and scattered them all over the floor.

Gu Huaijin looked at the things on the bed in silence, then glanced at Song Zhi helplessly. The bedside table was filled with various medicines and treatment tools, which looked a bit heavy.

"Stop it, it's useless." Gu Huaijin sighed, trying to make Song Zhi understand his feelings.

Song Zhi didn't get angry but laughed: "A three-year-old child knows that they need to take medicine when they are sick. Can you just delay and heal yourself?" There was a hint of helplessness and anger in Song Zhi's voice.

She didn't understand why Gu Huaijin was always so stubborn and would rather his body remain like this than accept medical help.

Gu Huaijin looked at Song Zhi's expression and his heart softened. He knew she was doing this for his own good and wanted to see him get better. In the end, he finally compromised.

"I'll listen to you. Don't be angry." Gu Huaijin responded gently.

Seeing Gu Huaijin put his clothes back in their place and lying on the bed obediently, Song Zhi actually felt a little amused. She was not laughing at Gu Huaijin, but she thought his compromise and stubbornness were sometimes cute.

The doctor came to check on them soon, and they both regained their composure. The doctor carefully examined Gu Huaijin's body and prescribed some medicine for him. Song Zhi listened silently. She didn't know whether these medicines would be useful for Gu Huaijin's body, but she was sure that they would be beneficial.

After the doctor left, Song Zhi walked to the window, opened the curtains, looked at the clear sky outside, and took a deep breath.

Song Zhi turned around and said to Gu Huaijin with a smile, "What are you planning to eat tonight?" His voice had returned to being gentle, without any trace of his previous irritability.

Gu Huaijin looked up at her. He wasn't picky about food and could eat anything. So he said softly, "Just cook as you see fit."

Seeing that he didn't express any opinions, Song Zhi decided to go back to the market to buy some ingredients like ribs and make some soup for him. After all, his physical condition was not good, so he should be nourished.

After returning home, she bought some Chinese yam and began preparing a pot of yam and pork rib soup. She first cleaned the ribs and blanched them in boiling water to remove any blood and impurities. Next, she added the blanched ribs and Chinese yam to the pot, adding an appropriate amount of water, salt, and other seasonings. Finally, she simmered the soup over low heat, waiting for it to thicken.

During the entire stewing process, Song Zhijian stood quietly in the kitchen.

About two hours later, a pot of fragrant yam and pork rib soup was finally ready. Song Zhijian carefully poured the soup into a lunch box and prepared the bowls and chopsticks, which he took to the hospital.

When they got to the ward, Song Zhi put the lunch box on the table and said softly, "The soup is ready, try it."

Gu Huaijin smelled the aroma of the soup, with a gentle smile on his face, and nodded.

He picked up the spoon and took a sip of the soup. Then he praised, "It's delicious, thank you."

Song Zhi sat aside with a smile, watching him drink up the soup in the bowl. He wanted to stand up and put the things away, but Gu Huaijin had already cleared the table.

Looking at Gu Huaijin's resolute face, she felt a little distressed. Even those who were favored by the Creator would inevitably have scars.

Song Zhi pondered and said, "You... this physical problem still needs to be checked out by a psychiatrist."

"You dislike me." Gu Huaijin stated this fact in a firm tone, with a flash of sadness in his eyes.

Song Zhi's eyes widened, and he quickly denied, "How could I possibly dislike you? It was you who disliked me more in the past. To be honest, this kind of problem is not a big deal. Everyone has some psychological problems, but it's always a psychological barrier. You don't want this kind of situation to happen again when you have a mission in the future. How dangerous!"

Gu Huaijin didn't expect Song Zhi to say that. Her eyes were full of sincerity, and no other emotions could be detected at all.

"Okay, I'll try."

"Let's do this. Let's go for psychological treatment for a period of time. It's not a long time, and you have to learn to overcome it yourself. I'm a little curious, why don't you dare to open the wooden warehouse?" Song Zhi asked knowingly in order not to reveal his true identity.

"Because... I have used it to hurt people." Gu Huaijin looked at Song Zhi, wanting to know how Song Zhi would react to his answer.

But he didn't expect that Song Zhi's expression remained unchanged. Instead, he counseled him, "If he is a bad person, then everything you do is for a reason. If he is a good person... I believe you won't harm him."

Seeing that he remained silent after hearing this, Song Zhi continued, "Everyone should pay for their own actions, just like what Zhou Miaomiao did a few days ago. Your behavior is right. If you have wrongly hurt other innocent people in the past, I think that was not your intention, and you would not do such a thing as hurting innocent people."

After hearing what she said, Gu Huaijin's eyes were full of thoughts, but he never said a word. He just quietly digested Song Zhi's words.

Seeing that he was lost in thought, Song Zhi did not continue to speak. No matter how much others said, it would be useless if he did not work hard to overcome it.

After two days of observation in the hospital, no other problems were found. Song Zhi also knew that psychological problems required a long treatment process and that one should not rush for results. Moreover, seeing that there was no point in him staying in the hospital, he decided to pack up and go back.

As soon as I got home, Aunt Zhao came over with a basket of eggs in her hand and asked, "How is Political Commissar Gu?"
