After nearly two hours of hard work, the meal was finally ready. She was worried that the soup would not be hot when Gu Huaijin came back, so she kept it warm on the coal stove. The longer the pork rib soup was stewed, the better it tasted.
"I'm back."
Under the warm yellow light, Song Zhi was sitting by the coal stove reading a book. When he heard the door open, he looked up and looked at the person coming in with a smile on his face.
Gu Huaijin was slightly stunned when he saw this scene, and his cold face softened.
"A colleague went to the county to buy mutton in the afternoon, so I bought some and brought it back too." Gu Huaijin weighed the heavy mutton in his hand and said to Song Zhi.
"Have you paid him? Or is he buying on credit first?" Song Zhi remembered that Gu Huaijin didn't have any money on him, and thought that he might have borrowed money from his colleague.
"Yes, I'll take the pocket money you gave me." Gu Huaijin looked calm.
Song Zhi looked at him with a complicated expression. This man still had no hobbies. He didn't smoke or drink. When he had money in his pocket, he would buy things for the house. It was not that Song Zhi was complaining, but such a good family man could only be found in dreams.
"Give me the mutton, I'll put it away. Hurry up and wash your hands and eat." Song Zhi took the mutton from his hand, put it away, and went to serve the rice.
Gu Huaijin took the served meal with great discernment. After finishing the meal, Song Zhixian went to the bedroom to change the sheets and quilt covers. As the weather was good these days and he had a day off tomorrow, he could tidy up the house and do some laundry.
Gu Huaijin was boiling water in the kitchen. There wasn't much firewood left at home. Gu Huaijin usually boiled water with firewood, which was much faster than a coal stove.
"We're out of firewood. We'll use the coal stove for the next two days. I'll go to the mountain after I've rested." Gu Huaijin explained. Song Zhi usually doesn't make fire to cook, so there's no need to tell her that. But Gu Huaijin was worried about her going to the mountain alone. After all, he still remembered clearly the last time he sprained his ankle.
That's why he couldn't help but remind her, fearing that she would run around alone on her day off.
Song Zhi nodded. She didn't know what he was thinking. Although she felt that his words were redundant, she didn't want to go to the mountain alone.
On Sunday, she finally had one day off a week, so she wanted to sleep in. She slept until ten o'clock. When she got up, the food was cold, so she just ate something to fill her stomach.
It was too late to wash the sheets, so she cleaned the house, wiped the furniture, and then started to cook lunch. Since the establishment of Gu Huaijin's special forces team, Gu Huaijin had not come back for lunch in the past week, and it just so happened that he had time today.
She made a few fried pancakes, fried some sweet and sour pork ribs and fish-flavored shredded pork, cooked some millet porridge, put it in a stainless steel thermos, and prepared to send it to Gu Huaijin's office.
