Chapter 67 Zhang Wenhao was taken away

An hour later, after receiving a message from Jin Yan saying "It's all settled," Jin Fangguo and the others went to the police station together.

After meeting up with Jin Yan in the police station lobby, she went to find Qi Rang.

When Zhang Wenhao's men saw Lu An'an and the others arrive at the police station, they quietly left to inform Zhang Wenhao.

Just then, Zhang Wenhao had just unleashed a tantrum in his office, and his face still held a trace of anger, when someone came to report that General Jin and his team had arrived at the police station.

Zhang Wenhao's eyes suddenly darkened, his expression turning grim. Why were they at the police station again? Had Lin Yue and the others discovered something?

He asked his subordinates standing in the center, "Did they see Team Leader Lin among the people who came?"

The subordinate quickly shook his head. "No, we didn't see Team Leader Lin or any other members of the supervisory team."

Upon hearing this, Zhang Wenhao's tightly furrowed brows relaxed slightly. He stood up and walked outside, saying, "Then I'll go take a look."

As soon as he stepped into the police station lobby, he saw Qi Rang talking with Lu An'an and her group. A hint of impatience flashed in his eyes, but he quickly put on a gentle smile and politely asked, "General Jin, what brings you here? Have you forgotten something?"

Jin Fangguo's face was as cold as frost, his gaze deep and indifferent. "Director Zhang, we would like to see Lin Ya Hui."

Upon hearing this, Zhang Wenhao's expression changed slightly, a barely perceptible shadow crossing the depths of his eyes. He politely declined, saying, "General Jin, as you know, Lin Ya Hui is currently in a sensitive period regarding her status as a suspect. Arranging a meeting does indeed present many inconveniences and considerations. What do you think..."

Jin Fangguo remained unmoved. He looked directly at Zhang Wenhao, his imposing presence and military aura causing fine beads of sweat to appear on Zhang Wenhao's forehead.

Lu An'an stood to the side, a playful smile curving her eyebrows. Her gaze swept over Zhang Wenhao, watching his stubborn expression as he remained clenched his teeth and kept his lips tightly shut, despite being drenched in sweat. A cold smile crept into her heart.

[Oh, still pretty stubborn, even though you're so scared, you're not going to give in?]

He gritted his teeth and stubbornly refused to give in. His superiors had given him orders to protect Lu Rongyu no matter what. Lin Ya Hui's testimony was crucial to whether Lu Rongyu could be saved. He couldn't let them see Lin Ya Hui. After all, many of the things he had done in secret had gone undetected until now because of that person, so he had to stop them.

Just as Zhang Wenhao was about to speak again and refuse Jin Fangguo's request, several more figures entered the hall. Zhang Wenhao looked up and saw Lin Yue smiling broadly as he led the supervisory team, his steps firm and undeniable, walking straight toward him.

Zhang Wenhao's heart skipped a beat, and a bad premonition welled up inside him.

A confident smile curved Lin Yue's lips, his smile carrying a multitude of unspoken meanings. He slowly spoke, "Director Zhang, how about it? Come with us?"

He smiled gently, a smile full of profound meaning, "There are some things that I think you might be interested in and want to see for yourself."

Zhang Wenhao's body tensed involuntarily, his bad premonition growing stronger. He forced himself to remain calm and asked, "Team Leader Lin, what is it?"

Lin Yue's gaze was deep. He gently turned his head to gesture to the young man beside him. The young man readily opened the video he had recorded on his phone and handed it to Zhang Wenhao, his eyes full of coldness: "Director Zhang, take a good look."

Zhang Wenhao took the phone and saw what was in the video. His face grew even paler, and his knuckles turned bluish-white from gripping the phone too tightly.

He's been discovered! They've found all his shady money, all the evidence that could destroy him!

"This... is absolutely impossible!" he murmured, his voice trembling with disbelief and terror.

"How could you possibly have found this place... How dare you dig up my family's ancestral graves? Aren't you afraid of retribution?!"

As the conversation progressed, Zhang Wenhao's voice gradually lost control, turning into desperate and indignant questions.

Lin Yue sneered: "You're not afraid of putting that stolen money in your ancestors' graves and making them die of anger, yet you're afraid of us suffering retribution?"

Zhang Wenhao's legs went weak, and he staggered, almost falling. Two members of the supervision team reacted quickly and stepped forward to support him. Cold handcuffs were then placed on his wrists, signaling that everything had come to an end.

Lin Yue's sharp gaze swept across Zhang Wenhao's ashen face without a trace of warmth. He then ordered in a deep voice, "Take Director Zhang away and interrogate him thoroughly!"

Zhang Wenhao's face instantly lost all color, and he stood like a statue, enduring the strange and disdainful looks from his former colleagues, as the supervisory team led him away from the place where he had struggled for half his life.

Before leaving, Lin Yue sincerely thanked Lu An'an again and then took his leave.

Qi Rang stood there, his gaze empty and distant. The scene of Zhang Wenhao being taken away kept replaying in his mind, leaving him unable to come back to his senses for a long time.

Seeing this, Lu An'an couldn't help but reach out her slender hand and gently wave it in front of Qi Rang's eyes, "Captain Qi?"

[When they took Zhang Wenhao away, did they also take Captain Qi's soul with them?]

Qi Rang blinked sharply, glancing at his colleagues and Lu An'an, a bitter smile barely escaping his lips. His voice was laced with complex emotions: "I remember when I first solved a major case that shocked the entire city, Director Zhang personally awarded me a medal. His eyes were full of expectation and trust. He told me, 'Little Qi, remember the responsibility on your shoulders, and always keep the people in your heart.' But now..."

Lu An'an was speechless for a moment, suddenly unsure how to comfort Qi Rang. People's hearts are fickle; perhaps Zhang Wenhao still remembered the responsibility he had in wearing those clothes.

She considered it for a moment, patted Qi Rang on the shoulder, and said, "It's alright. He's gone. The people will put him in jail and curse him during holidays. No one will forget him."

Oh my god, I'm so good at comforting people, I'm sure I can move him!

Qi Rang: Hmm? Is this supposed to be comforting? It sounds so disheartening.

Jin Yan pinched his thigh hard to suppress his laughter. An An's words of comfort were truly comforting; even late at night, they were so soothing to hear.

The people around them, who were already immersed in a sense of oppression, were caught in a dilemma when they heard Lu An'an's words. They couldn't decide whether to laugh or not, so they could only force themselves to suppress their smiles. Their faces were contorted from the effort to control themselves, and they turned red from holding it in.

Jin Fangguo coughed twice to suppress his laughter and came to everyone's rescue: "Captain Qi, can An'an go see Lin Ya Hui now?"

Qi Rang nodded, "Okay, I'll take you there. If we can get any new clues, it will be helpful to us too."

Thus, without Zhang Wenhao's obstruction, Lu An'an finally met Lin Ya Hui in the interrogation room.

She looked at Lin Ya Hui sitting in her seat with a cold and deep gaze, and said in a calm tone, "Lin Ya Hui, your son is in my hands now. If you want to see your son safely, I advise you to tell the truth and stop trying to lie."
