Chapter 51 Being Absorbed into Her Tenderness
The candlelight condensed into two clusters of golden light in Chu Yangyang's eyes. When she looked at Luo Xifeng, her hair slid across her trembling eyelashes.
The thunderstorm stopped at some point and released the moon.
The moonlight happened to pass through the window lattice, coating her outline with a layer of silver mist, and even her lips were dyed with the cold light of jade.
At such a close distance, Luo Xifeng could clearly see his own reflection in her pupils, and the shadow was cracking as the candle wick shook.
She loosened her hand and took a half step back to let him have the moonlight. "The Luo family died in vain, and the Chu family shouldn't die in vain too."
Luo Xifeng was stunned and stared down at the gold ingot in his palm. The raised patterns of the palace seal dug into his flesh.
"My Lord, look at this Purple Mist Iris." Chu Yangyang picked up the dried petals with her fingertips, the fairy purple color flowing across her snow-white wrist. "I heard that the Purple Mist Iris blooms for a very short time, and only once a year. The time when I can get my hands on the petals should be mid-July."
"We just need to check if anyone has been to the Imperial Garden to appreciate the flowers during that flowering period..." He continued with his Adam's apple rolling, but the tail end of the words dissipated in his suddenly surging heartbeat.
"Yes, that man is the mastermind behind this." Chu Yangyang nodded. "Don't forget one thing. My father was sent by the Emperor to inspect the salt tax in southern Jiangsu for a month and he hasn't returned yet."
Luo Xifeng pursed his lips and remained speechless.
Seeing his serious face, Chu Yangyang suddenly smiled.
The moonlight reflected in the dimples at the corners of her lips, and the corners of her slightly drooping eyes curved into crescents. When the broken stars flowed in her eyes, it was like a stream where spring snow melted.
Luo Xifeng seemed to be sucked into her tenderness.
The dam that had been built for many years began to crack, and something warm was seeping out of the cracks.
Chu Yangyang smiled and said, "You know you killed the wrong person, and you feel guilty."
She patted his shoulder generously, "It's okay. Repenting in time is the greatest virtue."
"All the bad things I did to you in the past are now written off!"
She took the opportunity to remind Luo Xifeng that the cycle of revenge would never end, so he should not take it too seriously.
Chu Yangyang blinked three times cunningly, and the dimple on her left cheek was faintly visible with the curved corner of her lips.
The fragmented light in his pupils leaped into two playful koi fish, and for a moment Luo Xifeng felt that the shadows cast by his falling eyelashes were as sweet as honey.
Shocked by his own thoughts, Luo Xifeng quickly turned his head to avoid her gaze and said stubbornly, "It's better to remember what the princess did to me before, so as not to make the same mistake again and cause resentment. Then I can't be blamed."
Chu Yangyang curled her lips. She saw Miaoyun lying on the ground out of the corner of her eye and immediately said anxiously, "Go check on Miaoyun first. She seems to have hit the back of her head just now."
This time, Luo Xifeng did not hesitate. He squatted down and took Miao Yun's pulse. After all, this was also his mistake.
"Miaoyun is fine, she just fainted. I'll give her a few injections and she'll wake up."
After saying that, he took out the needle bag, took out the silver needle and stabbed it into Miaoyun's head.
Soon, Miao Yun woke up.
When Miao Yun saw the person in front of her clearly, she immediately pushed Luo Xifeng away and stood in front of Chu Yangyang. "Doctor Luo, before you kill the princess, you must step over my body first!"
Chu Yangyang's heart softened. How could there be such a good maid who would risk his life to save her first?
"Miaoyun, I'm glad you're okay." Chu Yangyang took Miaoyun's hand, her eyes slightly red. This girl, how come she is so touching?
"There were some misunderstandings between me and Lord Luo. Now that the misunderstanding has been resolved, he won't kill me." She explained patiently to Miao Yun.
Although Miao Yun believed the princess' words, she still glared at Luo Xifeng warily, "Doctor Luo, the princess is the daughter of the Prime Minister. It is your honor to marry a commoner like you. Even if the princess beats or scolds you, you must accept it happily. If you dare to kill the princess again, I will tell the Prime Minister and let him punish you."
As if being brought back to reality by Miao Yun's words, Luo Xifeng's expression suddenly turned cold. Miao Yun was right. His current humble civilian status was far inferior to Chu Yangyang's.
Even so, do civilians have no dignity and can be trampled upon at will without complaint?
The gentle curve of his lips still hung in the twilight, but the spring water in his eyes had frozen into thin ice, and the shadow cast by his brow bone eroded the remaining glimmer in his eyes inch by inch.
Luo Xifeng looked directly at Chu Yangyang, "Princess, it's best to pray that this is all just a misunderstanding. If I find out that you've deceived me..."
He paused, then suddenly bent down slightly, his lips opening coldly beside her ear, his voice so low it made her shudder, "I would rather die with the princess than avenge my Luo family."
After saying that, Luo Xifeng turned around and left, stepping over the threshold. The iron door was wide open, and he showed no intention of locking it again.
Chu Yangyang signaled Miaoyun with her eyes, "Hurry up and leave!"
She clutched her sleeves and followed.
After walking for a while, they soon came out of the medicine storehouse.
Only then did Chu Yangyang discover that this clinic was a small three-room building with blue bricks and gray tiles. It was simple and rustic, yet clean and tidy.
A semicircular lattice window was carved out of the north wall, and colorful silk ribbons were hung on the pomegranate branches sticking out from outside. Chu Yangyang walked forward and looked down, and found that each of them was tied with a thank-you note left by a recovered patient, rustling in the draft.
"Lord Luo, is this your clinic?"
The crisp sound of pounding medicine came from behind her. She turned around and saw Luo Xifeng sitting by the medicine furnace, grinding herbs with a jade pestle.
He lowered his eyes and said "hmm" softly.
After a while, a little boy came running over and said, "Doctor Luo, please come quickly. There are so many patients coming to see you that you are too busy to handle them all."
Luo Xifeng brushed the hem of his clothes and stood up, "Let's go, Xiaoning."
The faint morning light spread across the blue brick ground, and Chu Yangyang leaned against the cypress screen to peek at the examination table.
Unexpectedly, the clinic was crowded with patients at dawn.
The old woman's withered wrist rested on the pulse pillow, and Luo Xifeng pressed his fingertips against her forehead. "If you cough up blood at night, take loquat dew mixed with honey."
The bamboo curtain suddenly crashed, and a child with a purple face was lying on the stretcher.
Luo Xifeng quickly stepped forward and opened the swaddling clothes, and the silver needle in his hand quickly inserted into the Tanzhong point.
Chu Yangyang clenched her sleeves and watched him use a bamboo stick to pry open the child's teeth and force medicine into the child's mouth.
"Doctor Luo, this is half a basket of Artemisia capillaris. I think your clinic will be able to use it." The hunchbacked old man put down the basket and was about to leave, but Luo Xifeng grabbed his shoulder.
He stuffed the copper coin back into the old man's palm and said, "Uncle Wang, this is your medicine money."
Uncle Wang quickly stuffed the copper coin back into Luo Xifeng's hand. "My grandson was once beyond medical help, but you saved his life by offering him medical treatment. This little piece of Artemisia capillaris is not enough to express your gratitude for your kindness."
Uncle Wang was so excited that he was about to kneel down and kowtow.
But Luo Xifeng helped him up and said, "In that case, I will accept your herbs."
Uncle Wang bowed repeatedly in gratitude.
Chu Yangyang looked at the hemp cloth that bound his hair and was soaked with sweat. The morning light shone through the slits in the bamboo curtains, cutting a sharp golden line on Luo Xifeng's nose.
She actually felt the same way as the original owner again. Luo Xifeng was so damn handsome.
"Have you seen enough, Princess?" Luo Xifeng suddenly turned around, his fingers stained with the medicine leaving a faint blue mark on the handkerchief...
