Chapter 53: Temper Tantrum
Chu Yangyang was anxious. "Luo Xifeng, please think of a solution quickly. Xiao Cui seems... seems to be dying."
A thin layer of sweat oozed from Luo Xifeng's forehead. "If this injection can't save Xiao Cui, then there's no cure."
The hand holding Chu Yangyang gradually weakened, and Chu Yangyang said anxiously, "Xiao Cui, wake up quickly. You haven't seen your child yet. You can't sleep, understand?"
Luo Xifeng lowered his hand, and the silver needle sank into the Yongquan acupoint.
Chu Yangyang looked at Xiao Cui on the bed nervously, but the hand holding her suddenly went limp, and Xiao Cui's eyelids gradually drooped.
"Xiao Cui, please look at your child. Don't fall asleep. Wake up quickly." Chu Yangyang picked up the newborn baby, her palms stained with slippery blood. "Xiao Cui, please look at your child, okay? Open your eyes and take a look."
Chu Yangyang's tears welled up in her eyes. She thought of her mother in modern times and the way her mother kissed her.
The colorful silk ribbons danced wildly in the draft.
Xiao Cui struggled to open her eyes and raised her hand. Her pale fingertips were about to touch the baby's wrinkled red cheek, and then she fell into a pool of blood like a dead leaf.
Luo Xifeng caught Xiao Cui's falling hand.
The baby in Chu Yangyang's arms suddenly burst into tears, startling the cuckoo that was watching life and death indifferently outside the window.
Luo Xifeng stared at Xiao Cui's eyes which had not yet closed, and pulled down the Xiangfei bamboo curtain with one hand to cover her face.
Tears fell unconsciously from Chu Yangyang's eyelashes and hit the baby's wrinkled red cheeks.
She stepped aside holding the swaddling clothes, leaving deep teeth marks at the corners of her lips.
The little life in her arms was clutching her blood-stained belt and sucking on it.
When the water droplets slid onto the baby's flaring nostrils, Chu Yangyang realized that she was trembling.
Luo Xifeng's hand holding the silver needle paused.
The morning light split the bloodshot in Chu Yangyang's eyes, reflecting the tear that was about to fall like crystal amber. In the past, these eyes would only show a bloodshot color of excitement when they tortured him.
I don't know when these eyes started to have a warm color.
"Princess, life and death are common in life. This is your fate, so you can only accept it." He comforted her.
Chu Yangyang stared at the baby in a daze, then suddenly said, "But Lord Luo, Xiao Cui hasn't touched her child yet."
"So what if I touch it? I'll always regret it."
Luo Xifeng lowered his head and wiped his palms with a handkerchief. Although his words were not cold, they were not warm at all.
Chu Yangyang raised her head, a hint of anger in her eyes. "For a doctor like Lord Luo, you're used to seeing life and death. Xiao Cui is just another insignificant patient you've seen. Of course, you think life and death don't matter, but for Xiao Cui, life robbed her of her right to be a mother. She never saw her child smile before she passed away. The regrets in life are never about life and death, but about not being able to see the happiness of the person you care about."
Luo Xifeng was stunned.
He looked at her eyes glistening with tears, and pondered her words in a daze.
Perhaps he didn't expect Chu Yangyang to be such a soft-hearted person, or perhaps her words really touched a nerve in him.
He said, "The princess's understanding of life and death is indeed profound, but isn't everyone's life full of regrets?"
After saying that, he bent down, took the baby from Chu Yangyang's hands, turned around and walked out.
Chu Yangyang was left alone and sad.
Xiao Ning happened to run over at this time, "Doctor Luo, are you calling me?"
Luo Xifeng placed the baby in Xiao Ning's hands and said to him, "This is Xiao Cui's child. Please give it to the village chief and have him pass it on to Xiao Cui's family."
Xiao Ning took it in a daze and asked, "Shouldn't the baby drink some breast milk first?"
He had experienced the same thing before when he helped deliver a baby.
Luo Xifeng said calmly, "Xiao Cui is dead. Let the village chief notify her family."
After saying that, he turned around and continued to treat other injured people.
Xiao Ning was stunned for a moment, then ran out with the baby in her arms.
I don’t know how long I was busy, the sky went from early morning to dusk.
The clinic is still overcrowded with injured people.
There was only one doctor, Luo Xifeng, and he didn't even have time to drink a sip of water.
Chu Yangyang, who was busy with the team, was so tired that she couldn't even straighten her back.
"Drink some water first." Luo Xifeng brought a cup of tea and placed it in front of Chu Yangyang.
As if she was too tired, Chu Yangyang took it, drank the water with her head tilted back, and put it on the table next to her with a "bang".
"I dare not trouble Lord Luo again. I will fall down by myself next time."
After saying that, she stood up and came to Xiaoning to help.
Luo Xifeng looked at her angry back, somewhat puzzled as to why she was angry.
But he was not annoyed. He actually felt that the pretty figure was less aggressive than before, and more lively and humane.
It was already late. Luo Xifeng settled the remaining wounded and came to Chu Yangyang's side. "Let's go eat something first."
Chu Yangyang said calmly, "Master Luo, go eat first. I'm not hungry yet."
Luo Xifeng bent down, put his lips close to her ear, and whispered softly, "Xiao Ning is best at making beggar's chicken. The meat is tender and has a sweet aftertaste. If you don't want to eat it, we'll go eat it first."
She swallowed unconsciously. In fact, she hadn't eaten anything today, and her stomach was already rumbling with hunger.
When I heard Luo Xifeng say these words in my ear, a delicious and tender chicken leg suddenly appeared in my mind.
"Then... I'll just eat some for now, so as not to ruin Xiaoning's mood for cooking." Chu Yangyang immediately jumped up and walked quickly into the inner room.
As he walked, he did not forget to call out, "Miaoyun, hurry up, dinner is ready."
Looking at her cheerful back, the corners of his mouth curled up in a charming arc.
When Luo Xifeng sat down at the dining table, Chu Yangyang was gnawing on a chicken leg.
Seeing him coming, she turned sideways to the other side, as if she didn't want to see him.
Chu Yangyang deliberately extended the bamboo chopsticks towards the stir-fried shepherd's purse farthest from Luo Xifeng, but bumped into the ebony chopsticks that were suddenly extended to her.
She pursed her lips and picked up the spicy tofu next to her, and the ebony chopsticks once again blocked her bamboo chopsticks.
She took back the bamboo chopsticks and slammed them on the table. "Luo Xifeng, are you deliberately going against me?"
Luo Xifeng raised his beautiful eyebrows and looked at her, "I just happened to want to eat the same thing as the princess, how could I be against you?"
He pushed the white porcelain cup next to her and said, "This is angelica and red dates soup, it replenishes qi and blood."
Chu Yangyang didn't even look at it and pushed it away, "How could I dare to drink something that Lord Luo brought?"
Seeing that the atmosphere was not right, Miao Yun stood up and dragged Xiao Ning out the door. "I just saw that the red bean soup you made was about to burn. Let's go and take a look."
Xiao Ning's mouth was still full of chicken legs. He was pulled away for a moment, and his face was full of confusion. "When did I stew red bean soup?"
After the two left, only Chu Yangyang and Luo Xifeng were left at the dinner table...
