Chapter 44 A Temporary Weak Heart

Chapter 44 A Temporary Weak Heart

Luo Xifeng calmly pulled back his sleeve, but she missed and stumbled again.

Seeing this, Chu Yangyang shook her head helplessly. This kind of straight man, if he continues like this, I'm afraid the main plot will have to wait until she dies before it can develop.

"Prince Jing's Mansion changed its emblem three years ago." Luo Xifeng fiddled with the token with the tip of his shoe. "Isn't this pattern a copy of the old jade token from the Prime Minister's Mansion? Could it be that Miss Xiao was deceived by an assassin?"

Xiao Renyu stepped forward and said hurriedly, "But this is indeed what I found on the assassin."

Because she was too anxious, she almost fell down again. This time, Luo Xifeng did not dodge, but reached out to support her.

Seeing that the atmosphere between them had improved, Chu Yangyang wanted to move forward secretly. It would be unfair to her, the main promoter, if nothing happened on such a good night.

Here, Luo Xifeng gently helped Xiao Renyu lean against the pillar of the house. Then, he turned abruptly, trapping Chu Yangyang between the door frame and his arms. "My princess is so clever, why don't you tell me why the assassin had Prince Jing's jade pendant on him, and why did the other assassin claim to be sent by the Prime Minister?"

He brushed his fingertips across the blood on her neck and asked, "Who on earth wants Zhao Yi dead tonight?"

"It wasn't me after all." She raised her head to meet his gaze, the blood streaking in her throat rising and falling as she swallowed. "It wasn't my father either."

Luo Xifeng raised his eyebrows and pressed his body down, making the air between them even thinner.

Chu Yangyang raised her hand and placed it against Luo Xifeng's chest. "Lord Luo, you're so close to me, aren't you afraid that Sister Renyu will get jealous?"

She tilted her head to look at Xiao Renyu who was leaning against the pillar, and whispered to comfort her, "Sister Renyu risked her life to save you, so you should stay with her and have some personal conversation."

A strange color flashed in Luo Xifeng's eyes, and his knuckles brushed against the scabbed knife marks on her wrist. "The princess is considerate of others."

"I'm just afraid of missing out on a good relationship."

She turned sideways to avoid his breath, and the night wind blew between them. She shrank her neck and raised her voice, "Lord Luo, you and Sister Renyu are a perfect match. Just forget me."

Before he could finish his words, Xiao Renyu suddenly coughed violently, and scarlet spots appeared on his handkerchief.

Xiao Renyu's fingertips dug deep into his palms, but a gentle smile bloomed on his face, "My Lady, your words make me seem superfluous."

Chu Yangyang bent down and crawled out from under Luo Xifeng's arm, feeling dizzy.

She simply found a corner to sit down, feeling dizzy and dazed. There was no time to think about things. One was dark and cunning, and the other was sarcastic.

She was too lazy to explain. "As for Zhao Yiyi's matter, I will naturally investigate it and give you an explanation. But you two should handle yourselves. I'm tired after a day, I need to rest."

After saying that, she closed her eyes and began to rest, ignoring the two of them.

Xiao Renyu covered his chest and wanted to say something to Luo Xifeng, but he saw him sit directly next to the unconscious Zhao Yi and took out silver needles to treat him.

Xiao Renyu opened his mouth, then closed it again, and sat down to rest in a huff.

The morning light filtered through the dilapidated windows of the temple, casting spots of light on Chu Yangyang's face.

She opened her eyes and saw Luo Xifeng pouring medicine into Zhao Yi's mouth.

Chu Yangyang stood up, holding onto the damp wall. The burn wound on her lower back stained the hem of her skirt, but she smiled as she watched Xiao Renyu busying around. "Sister Renyu, you're up pretty early."

Xiao Renyu didn't look at her. He stretched his head to look outside and said softly, "The carriage to pick us up has arrived. Let's go back first."

Luo Xifeng whispered in the ear of Bai Shi who came to pick them up. Bai Shi took the order and pushed the unconscious Zhao Yixiang in the opposite direction of the mansion with the guards.

The carriage was jolting violently on the return trip. Chu Yangyang huddled in a corner, watching the falling locust blossoms outside the curtains. Xiao Renyu whispered softly to her, "Brother Xifeng, try these plums. I pickled them all winter, and they're quite good."

Chu Yangyang was suddenly bumped against the car wall. Luo Xifeng rolled up his wide sleeves, but only protected the medicine box on the seat.

She rolled her eyes, showing no mercy at all.

The carriage was shaking, and she felt more and more dizzy. She had to hold on to the seat with both hands to stay seated.

While feeling dizzy, the red gate of the Prime Minister's Mansion came into view. Luo Xifeng and Xiao Renyu got off the car first.

Chu Yangyang followed behind. She stepped on a footstool to get off the carriage, and her legs suddenly felt weak.

She looked at the maid running anxiously up the stone steps, and a blood-red mist filled her eyes, followed by a wave of dizziness.

Luo Xifeng was talking in a low voice with Bai Shi when he suddenly heard a "bang" sound behind him.

Chu Yangyang suddenly fell onto the bluestone slab, and the jade hairpin in her hair broke into three pieces.

Miao Yun screamed and wanted to rush over, but Luo Xifeng immediately turned around and picked her up sideways.

When my palm touched the damp heat on her lower back, I was shocked to find that the bloodstain had seeped through the hem of her apricot-colored skirt to her outer shirt.

"Prepare some hot water." He quickly crossed the threshold, his voice calm and composed, though a hint of trembling lingered at the end. "And bring three grams of rhinoceros horn powder."

In the Bishuiyunju of the Prime Minister's Mansion, wisps of green smoke curled out from the cracks of the medicine furnace.

Chu Yangyang smelled the familiar scent of wormwood in her drowsiness, and seemed to be back to the night when she traveled through the book.

She instinctively rubbed Luo Xifeng's neck and murmured, "Don't kill me, I'm afraid of pain..."

The arms around her suddenly tightened. Luo Xifeng lowered his head to look at the pale lips of the person in his arms. Her cheeks were flushed red from the high fever, like a lily in full bloom.

The candlelight flickered outside the gauze curtain, forming a dim halo.

Luo Xifeng laid her down, turned around and brought the bowl of medicine from the table.

Chu Yangyang tossed and turned in the quilt, the burn on her lower back stinging from the cold sweat.

She vaguely saw the shadow of Luo Xifeng holding a sword reflected on the screen. The blood dripping from the tip of the sword turned into red plum blossoms all over the sky, and the sword tip stabbed towards her without any obstruction.

"Don't come over here!"

Chu Yangyang suddenly opened her eyes wide, and suddenly grabbed Luo Xifeng's wrist as he was holding the medicine, digging her nails into the back of his hand, "Luo Xifeng, don't kill me!"

Luo Xifeng shook the medicine bowl in his hand, and the brown medicine juice splashed onto his moon-white shirt.

He frowned and tried to pry her fingers apart, but they were held tighter, "Luo Xifeng, don't you believe me?"

"Princess, tell me, why do you deserve my trust?" His voice was still gentle. He raised the silver needles on his fingertips and then sealed several of her acupoints.

Chu Yangyang suddenly felt a sharp pain, and her misty eyes reflected his cold face. "Lord Luo, have you decided to attack me?"

Luo Xifeng's hand holding the needle paused.

The newly bandaged white cloth on her back was oozing with blood.

At this moment, she curled up into a small ball, hot tears falling down. She felt extremely wronged. Since she came into this tattered book, her life was constantly threatened.

She was just a small clerk with no ambition, and she just wanted to live an ordinary and peaceful life.

Why did she have to encounter such a dramatic experience?

Why is it so difficult to live a simple life!

She covered her face with a quilt. Having a fever was embarrassing enough, and she was crying like this. How could she look like the heroine in a female drama?

She is just a weak woman, she just wants to survive!

Luo Xifeng's hand holding the silver needle was suspended in mid-air.
