Chapter 105: Resting Place
Shen Jiazhou got out of the underground garage and got into the car but was not in a hurry to leave. Instead, he took out his wallet from his pocket and took out a new photo from a row of cards.
When they were playing in the afternoon, there happened to be someone selling Polaroid photos, and he and Wen Shuqiao each took a photo.
In the photo, he was holding Cancan and standing under the Ferris wheel. On his head, he was wearing the headband that Cancan had carefully selected. Only after looking at the photo did I realize that this kid was secretly making a "yeah" gesture on the top of his head.
Shen Jiazhou stroked Cancan's face with his fingertips, and his expression became much gentler: "Little rascal."
He put the photo back into his wallet, cherishing it. He would ask Lin Yan to buy a photo frame tomorrow and put it on his desk to prevent the brat from asking him, "Uncle, uncle, where is the photo?"
Now I can imagine his unique wavy tone.
Shen Jiazhou let out a sigh of relief, started the car, and drove out of the community.
At this point, the evening rush hour had long passed, and Shen Jiazhou's road was relatively smooth. However, he did not rush home, but turned to the cemetery.
Although it was a cemetery, it was bright at night. He bought a bouquet of flowers and two cans of Coke at the foot of the mountain and carried them up the mountain.
The place where Shen Jiachen was was chosen by him, and Shen Jiazhou could reach it with his eyes closed.
But this was the only time in the past two years that he walked to his tombstone with ease. He placed the flowers beside the tombstone, looked at the smiling face on the tombstone, then sat directly on the ground and opened the two cans one by one, placing one can together with the flowers and holding the other can in his own hand.
He took a sip of Coke and bubbles burst in his mouth.
Shen Jiazhou looked into the distance and saw a bustling street market.
After drinking half a Coke alone, Shen Jiazhou finally spoke: "I found your son. Although it was a little late, he is doing well now. He is well-fed and plump, like a little pig."
"He cried twice when he saw me, but he apologized to me later. He's still pretty good."
"She's also very naughty, but very caring, cute, and good at comforting people. She looks... a bit like you."
"Oh, by the way, Cancan's aunt said that her sister-in-law has also passed away. Calculating the time, you two should have met. Please tell her that Cancan is doing well and let her rest assured."
"Also, regarding my sister-in-law, I don't know where she is buried. When Cancan grows up a few years, I will ask him if he is willing to move my sister-in-law here. Once he agrees, I will start the construction. This way, you two won't have to live in different places."
"Don't think I'm here again after just a short time. Today is different."
"Today is Cancan's birthday, she's four years old. I haven't figured out how to tell the Shen family. At first I was planning to bring her back as soon as I found her, but you know the situation in our family."
Shen Jiazhou was silent for a while, then turned his head to look at the tombstone beside him. He stretched out his hand and placed it on the tombstone: "I have thought a lot in the past two years. I didn't let it go at first, but now I see that Cancan has let it go a little bit."
The evening breeze gently blew Shen Jiazhou's hair. He sat quietly for a while, and finally touched the opened but unopened Coke can in his hand with the Coke can in his hand.
After taking another sip of Coke, he put his can of Coke aside, took out his wallet from his pocket, and took out the photos he took in the afternoon again.
"I know you miss your son. Take a look at the photo first." Shen Jiazhou put the Polaroid camera flush with the photo on the tombstone: "I will bring him to see you after I have dealt with the Shen family's affairs."
The wind seemed to be blowing a little harder. Shen Jiazhou raised his head, his eyes slightly red. He said, "Alright, don't get excited. I'm wearing a suit and I'm not cold-resistant. Calm down."
He withdrew his hand and put the photo back into his wallet: "I came here today to tell you that with me here, no one dares to bully your son. Don't worry, I am much more reliable than you now."
Shen Jiazhou stuffed the photo back into his wallet, stood up, dusted himself off, and stood in front of the tombstone, his tone still casual: "I didn't ask you to bless me in the past. This time I still have to say one more thing, just bless Cancan, and pray that he grows up safely, healthily, and happily."
The wind had calmed down a lot, Shen Jiazhou's eyes fell on that unchanged smiling face again, and he said softly: "Let's go."
He sighed, turned around and left Shen Jiachen's resting place.
Back in the car, Shen Jiazhou turned on the air conditioner. The warm air blew over him, diligently blowing away his coldness.
There was no light on in the car, only a little light from outside was coming in.
Shen Jiazhou leaned back in his chair, took out a pack of cigarettes from under the armrest box, bit the filter, and the lighter clicked, illuminating his face. When the dancing flame was about to light the cigarette, the little bad boy who liked to rub his face against others came to his mind again.
Although he knew that the little rascal wouldn't be able to smell anything tomorrow, Shen Jiazhou thought about it and released the switch of the lighter and put the cigarette back far away.
Forget it, let’s not take the risk.
After all, he had just promised Shen Jiachen that he would protect his son.
Shen Jiazhou looked out the window again, and just as he was about to start the car, the cell phone on the passenger seat lit up.
The next second, the bell rang.
Shen Jiazhou reached out and picked up the phone, taking a look at the notes on the screen.
grandfather.
His brows furrowed slightly.
