Chapter 13: An epiphany.

Wen Nan tilted her head slightly and gently rotated her wrist.

They looked like they were about to make a big splash.

The three bandits turned and ran.

The third brother looked regretful and said, "Big brother, are we just going to leave like this? I got beaten up all day and didn't get anything."

"You want to fish it out? Go ahead!"

"I dare not."

The three bandits turned and ran.

Lu Yanqing leaned against the tree, wrapped in a thick cloak, which made her feel less cold, but her feet were still icy.

Lu Yanqing looked at the three people in front of her who were panicking and running around in all directions. One of them even accidentally fell to the ground and then scrambled away.

Lu Yanqing coughed a few times. "Why are they afraid of you?"

Wen Nan's lips twitched as he looked at the three people fleeing in front of him, as if he had seen some kind of monstrous flood.

She hadn't even done anything yet... These three people made sure everything was fine during the day, but then they came out to rob people again in the afternoon.

Wen Nan smiled sweetly. "Perhaps they suddenly, um... had a change of heart."

Wen Nan walked over, picked up Lu Yanqing, and weighed him in his arms.

Lu Yanqing's ears turned slightly red. A grown man, asking a frail woman... a woman carrying him the whole way. Lu Yanqing felt a little embarrassed.

"They were about to rob you just now, how come they had a change of heart when they saw you?" Lu Yanqing couldn't ignore the terrified expressions on the faces of the three people who had just run away in front of him.

Moreover... Wen Nan has been acting differently than usual since this morning, and he has some suspicions.

"Hmm...maybe it's because I look like Guanyin Bodhisattva that they saw me and instantly understood." Wen Nan's boots trod steadily and smoothly in the snow, without any bumps.

"..."

"Where did you get this cloak?" Seeing her casual answer, Lu Yanqing didn't ask any more questions.

Lu Yanqing touched the cloak he was wearing; the material was very heavy. He didn't own clothes like that. Given their current financial situation... they probably couldn't afford clothes like that anyway.

They are currently starving.

Wen Nan walked step by step in the snow, her almond-shaped eyes trembling slightly. Could she say that she had killed a wolf with her bare hands?

Such bloodshed! She was trying to cultivate a wise ruler, how could she let Lu Yanqing know about such a bloody thing?

Hesitated repeatedly.

Wen Nan blurted out, "Today, I was lucky and found a wolf... I took it to the market and sold it for some money."

A string of footprints was left on the snow. Wen Nan's voice was calm, and Lu Yanqing could clearly see the white mist coming out of Wen Nan's mouth under the moonlight.

Lu Yanqing held a cane in his hand and put his hands on Wen Nan's shoulders. He didn't ask any more questions.

Wen Nan added, "We're a respectable family, so our money is earned honestly. We can't do anything shady."

She is now cultivating a wise ruler, so naturally she must instill the correct ideas in Lu Yanqing at all times.

Lu Yanqing lowered her eyes, looked at the back of someone's head, and frowned.

Suddenly, a cool touch came from Wen Nan's forehead. The man's hand gently rested on Wen Nan's forehead. It wasn't a pampered hand... but rather rough, the result of long hours of writing, practicing calligraphy, and doing housework.

"You fell into the lake and broke your head?" The voice was like a mountain stream splashing on the rocks.

“I told you, I will live a good life with you from now on,” Wen Nan said again.

Lu Yanqing remained silent, clearly disbelieving. Wen Nan, who had previously lived a life of luxury, might have changed somewhat, but who knows what other schemes he might be plotting?
