Chapter 23 Apology

The village chief waved his hand.

"Go on, everyone... the matter has been resolved." The village chief said this, and the people around him were about to leave.

Amidst the howling wind and rain, snowflakes covered Lu Yanqing's dark blue hair, and his nose was red from the cold.

He glanced back at Wen Nan.

Wen Nan smiled slightly, preparing to lie down next to Lu Yanqing and praise her husband.

But... Lu Yanqing suddenly looked away.

"Wait, village chief, the matter is not yet resolved." Lu Yanqing's voice was like a clear mountain spring.

The village chief stroked his beard and turned around to ask, "This matter is quite clear. It was Aunt Zhao who framed Madam Wen. It was Aunt Zhao's fault."

The cold wind stung my face.

Wen Nan was shielded behind the boy, and the cold wind... did not touch her at all.

Wen Nan asked in a low voice from behind, "Husband... is there anything else?"

But what Lu Yanqing said the next second left Wen Nan slightly stunned.

"The village chief also said that Aunt Zhao framed him, Wen Nan. So how can we let this go after Wen Nan has been wronged?" The eighteen-year-old boy's voice seemed to carry a strange allure. It was like a feather brushing against Wen Nan's heart... tickling him.

She herself never felt wronged, nor did she realize it.

She was framed by Aunt Zhao.

Based on their attitude towards the original owner, the villagers... brought up a lot of old, trivial matters.

Unexpectedly... Lu Yanqing would protect her.

The village chief was slightly taken aback; the villagers had returned.

Aunt Zhao's face grew even more ashamed. She was practically half-buried in the ground; she had never imagined…

"Oh my god, am I supposed to apologize to a junior at my age? How am I supposed to live?"

As Aunt Zhao spoke, she resumed her act of bowing her head and stamping her feet.

The village chief was also in a bit of a dilemma.

The embroiderer sobbed softly, looking at Lu Yanqing with disbelief.

Everyone in Lianhua Village knew perfectly well what Wen Nan had been like to Lu Yanqing in the past.

Why is Lu Yanqing protecting Wen Nan now?

She clearly remembered that in her previous life, Lu Yanqing and Wen Nan were very distant, with no affection between them whatsoever.

Lu Yanqing, unable to fulfill his ambitions, joined the army, became a military advisor, and eventually became the founding emperor.

Wen Nan ultimately met a tragic end, dying without a proper burial.

The changes have startled and frightened the embroiderer.

She was afraid of Lu Yanqing's attitude towards Wen Nan.

Why are people's lives so different in every lifetime... Where exactly did things go wrong?

The embroiderer felt a sense of crisis. She had thought Wen Nan was just an insignificant person, so she plotted to kill him so that she could take the opportunity to rise to power.

But things took a sudden turn... The embroiderer couldn't even process what was happening.

“I’ll apologize to Madam Wen… My mother is old, how can she apologize to a junior? Madam Wen, aren’t you afraid of shortening your lifespan?” The embroiderer said this as she walked up to Wen Nan.

The words implied that Wen Nan did not know how to respect his elders.

“Of course you should apologize. You came here and slandered Wen Nan without even knowing the facts. This matter has nothing to do with Wen Nan.” The eighteen-year-old boy spoke firmly.

The embroiderer's originally righteous words... apologizing on behalf of her mother... seemed to have been instantly reduced to their ugly original form.

She also framed Wen Nan.

The embroiderer looked at Lu Yanqing with tears in her eyes, her expression pitiful.

She hoped that Lu Yanqing would show her even a little pity.

The embroiderer was born in the countryside and was used to farm work from a young age. Her skin was rough and dark, and her pitiful appearance was just like a grizzly bear with tears in its eyes.

It looks really awkward no matter how you look at it.
