Chapter 43 Foraging

None of the officers went in to search.

The group simply walked around the area and, seeing that no one was calling out or calling for help, assumed that no one was inside.

However, on the map in front of Wen Nan's eyes, a red dot appeared.

Wen Nan clenched her fingers slightly; she knew that was Lu Yanqing's address.

However, the hilltop was already completely surrounded and impassable.

Nobody took Wen Nan's words seriously.

Wen Nan's fingers tightened slightly. "Sir, my husband hasn't been back for a long time. My home is on this road."

Her fingers tightened slightly. She had spent a day in the city, intending to see what kind of business she could start.

But unexpectedly, Lu Yanqing went home early to prepare for the exam.

"Go, go, go! We've already checked, there's no one inside at all." The officer next to him waved his hand impatiently.

Wen Nan didn't say anything, and turned to leave.

She went around to the back of the mountain, to a sparsely populated area.

It was surrounded, but the crowd wasn't that dense.

Taking advantage of their momentary lapse in attention, Wen Nan ran inside.

Wen Nan's shoes grew increasingly cold. The snow was so heavy that it almost reached above Wen Nan's knees, and her clothes were soaked... It was excruciatingly cold.

However, Wen Nan's face did not change, but he clenched his back teeth tightly.

Walk towards the red dot on the map.

Soon... Wen Nan looked around at the white snow and fixed his gaze on a certain place.

There are rocks, and the snow is uneven.

Wen Nan could almost immediately tell that there was a cave inside.

Lu Yanqing was hiding inside.

The map shows that Wennan has arrived nearby.

But Wen Nan still couldn't see anything.

Wen Nan frowned, looked at the terrain in front of him, and suddenly reached out to dig through the snow.

The sky was pitch black, and the surroundings were pure white. Wen Nan's hands were icy cold, and her fingertips were red from the cold, but she seemed to care nothing as she shoveled snow.

"There's a cave in here, and Lu Yanqing is hiding inside." 859's voice echoed in Wen Nan's mind.

However, the sentence "859" is clearly redundant.

Wen Nan has been digging for so long, she must have guessed it.

Wen Nan did not respond.

"Lu Yanqing?" The woman's voice rang out, but there was no response from inside.

Wen Nan quickened his pace. Lu Yanqing was inside the cave, but his face had turned pale.

He hid inside a cave, where not all the collapsing snow had entered.

Lu Yanqing's lower body was buried in snow.

Wen Nan quickened his pace, reaching out to gently pat Lu Yanqing's face. Lu Yanqing lifted his eyelids... and glanced at Wen Nan groggily.

His eyes closed again... his eyelids were so heavy he couldn't open them even a fraction.

It's strange, why did Wen Nan's image appear in my mind before I died?

“Lu Yanqing? Lu Yanqing?” Wen Nan reached out and patted Lu Yanqing’s cheek.

She pulled him out of the snowdrift and took off her cloak to wrap Lu Yanqing tightly.

She pulled the person onto her back and was about to leave.

Suddenly, a roar erupted. It was incredibly deep... echoing throughout the empty space.

A bad feeling crept into Wen Nan's heart.

Sure enough, looking around...

A large black bear stands out against the snow-white ground.

The black bear's gaze was fixed intently on Wen Nan, just like a black bear awakened from hibernation by an avalanche.

They've come out now to find food.

Wen Nan pursed her lips slightly, turned her head, and Lu Yanqing's face rested on Wen Nan's shoulder.

Wen Nan's cheek brushed against Lu Yanqing's cheek. Lu Yanqing's breath hit Wen Nan's face.

It was extremely hot.

The intense heat on her cheeks made Wen Nan a little worried.

Lu Yanqing was chilled, so she had to finish this quickly.

Otherwise... even if Lu Yanqing hadn't been crushed to death by the snow or eaten by a bear...

I'm afraid he'll die from the cold first...
