Chapter 55 Ruyi

When Wen Nan went to the market from Santoushan, she went back and changed her clothes.

By the time everything was sold, it was already dark.

As usual, she walked to the entrance of Fengya Academy.

A biting wind howled, hitting her face. A blush crept onto Wen Nan's pale face from the cold. She rubbed her increasingly icy hands together.

She touched her pocket again, and found it full of heavy silver coins. She was overjoyed.

For quite some time afterward, she and Lu Yanqing had no worries about food and drink.

I glanced at the sky and saw that it was still early, about half an hour.

Wen Nan stood in the corner, pondering how to explain the extra ten taels of silver to Lu Yanqing.

After thinking for a moment, Wen Nan rubbed his cold hands, then suddenly remembered something and turned to go to the market.

...

In the elegant academy, there were a dozen or so people, with exam papers spread out in front of them.

Lu Yanqing's fingers grew cold. He wrote the last word on the white paper.

He looked up at the sky outside... Wen Nan must be waiting for him outside now, right?

Suddenly, something gently bumped against Lu Yanqing's back. It was very light, but Lu Yanqing still noticed it.

He turned his head slightly, and sure enough, out of the corner of his eye, he saw Zhang Ruyu at the table behind him, grinning and saying something.

He was still looking in Lu Yanqing's direction when he made a gesture of respect.

Suddenly, the teacher in front of them reached out and patted the ruler in front of him.

Master Li was a notoriously strict teacher. He glared at Zhang Ruyu, his eyes filled with a hint of warning.

Master Li loved learning, and his favorite student was Lu Yanqing.

Zhang Ruyu dared not act rashly; he hung his head like a wilted vegetable.

He's really finished now.

We're about to run out of food...

For the next half hour, Zhang Ruyu licked the millstone, drew something on the paper, and occasionally stared at Lu Yanqing's back with a resentful look.

Half an hour later, Master Li collected everyone's papers one by one, finally receiving the one from Zhang Ruyu.

Looking at what Zhang Ruyu had written, he couldn't tell it was a large, dark mess. Zhang Ruyu was drawing on it with a pen.

Not a single serious word was uttered. Master Li felt as if he were swallowing blood.

How could he teach such stupid students!

Master Li looked at Lu Yanqing's neatly written exam paper, and his frustration gradually dissipated.

They are both his students, so why is there such a big difference?

The problem isn't his fault; it's Zhang Ruyu's fault!

Thinking this to himself, Master Li didn't give Zhang Ruyu a friendly look. He let out a cold snort and left.

Zhang Ruyu deflated like a punctured balloon, slumping onto the table...

Lu Yanqing packed his things and walked straight out of the classroom.

It was already late outside, and the cold wind was biting and icy.

Before even reaching the door, Lu Yanqing indeed spotted a familiar figure by the wall.

Wen Nan spotted Lu Yanqing immediately. Lu Yanqing was holding a cane, but he looked no different from an ordinary person.

Wen Nan immediately stepped forward.

Because he had made money today, Wen Nan was beaming with joy.

It was obvious at a glance that Wen Nan was in a very good mood.

"Husband, did you do well on the exam today?" The woman reached out and took Lu Yanqing's arm.

Lu Yanqing nodded slightly.

Suddenly, Wen Nan slipped something into Lu Yanqing's hand.

It was very warm... dispelling the chill from Lu Yanqing's exposed fingertips as he held the pen.
