Chapter 83

Chapter 83

Lin Qiong's eyes widened in disbelief, her small, healthy-looking mouth slightly agape, staring at the tall figure with his back to her.

His mouth opened and closed, but he couldn't utter a single word.

The man, unaware of the commotion behind him, took out his phone and made a call, pacing back and forth while waiting for the call to connect.

Lin Qiong watched in disbelief as Fu Xingyun took his first steps.

"Get the car ready, let's go to the company."

The man hung up the phone and was about to take the elevator back to the third floor when the doctor and nurse came out of the living room.

The doctor looked at Fu Xingyun with a natural expression and asked, "Mr. Fu, Mr. Lin is away on a business trip for the next few days. Do we still need to use it?"

"No need." The man didn't even glance at the two of them. "Come back when he's back."

"OK."

Fu Xingyun: "You answered well today."

The doctor smiled and said, "We are professionals."

He picked up his medicine box and prepared to leave, but he stumbled as soon as he took a step.

The nurse reacted quickly and caught the person, but when she looked up, she also gasped in surprise.

The elevator doors opened, and the man turned around at the sound, immediately spotting Lin Qiong standing there like a dazed goose.

Fu Xingyun's heart sank suddenly, as if he were falling endlessly, the feeling of weightlessness growing stronger and stronger, bottomless.

The nurse couldn't help but swallow hard. "Mr. Lin..."

However, Lin Qiong just kept staring at the person's legs and didn't answer.

Even the experienced doctor was momentarily at a loss. "Why is Mr. Lin back so soon?"

An awkward atmosphere filled the air. Lin Qiong looked at Fu Xingyun's words and couldn't quite discern her own emotions.

"I..." Lin Qiong tried to organize her thoughts, "I forgot my ID card, so I came back to get it."

He glanced quickly at Fu Xingyun as he spoke, then lowered his head again.

Lin Qiong stepped forward, his gaze intense, but he was completely unprepared for the other person's sudden standing up and had no idea how to face Xingyun.

When he was still a few steps away from the person, he felt an invisible pressure. He saw the tall figure standing there motionless, with a pair of eyes staring intently at him.

Fu Xingyun was at a loss for what to do. Just as he was about to speak, he heard the other person say, "I...I'll take the stairs."

"Let's go up together." Fu Xingyun reached out to pull the person up.

Lin Qiong instinctively turned around to avoid it, "No...no need."

He then made up a lame excuse: "The elevator is slow."

As he spoke, he frantically climbed the stairs, taking three steps at a time.

It wasn't that I wasn't shocked to see Fu Xingyun able to stand up, but rather that I hadn't yet accepted the fact that he could stand up.

He was perfectly fine before he left.

How... how did I manage to stand up?!

Lin Qiong's mind went blank for a moment, and she even frantically took out her ID card from the drawer, trying to stop her trembling hands, but they kept shaking.

He had imagined countless scenes of Fu Xingyun standing up, feeling surprised, unexpected, proud and honored.

But his current mood clearly tells him that he is unhappy.

Even though the other person stood up, he felt no joy whatsoever.

He didn't know why, this feeling was inexplicable.

Lin Qiong held her ID card and sighed, "Lin Qiong, cheer up."

She muttered this sentence over and over again with her little mouth.

When Lin Qiong came downstairs, the man was still standing in the same spot.

Lin Qiong couldn't help but glance at him. Fu Xingyun was even taller than he had imagined, with broad shoulders and long legs. Standing there, he seemed like a safe haven.

"Lin Qiong".

The man spoke first, but Lin Qiong pretended not to hear and turned to leave.

"Lin Qiong!"

Fu Xingyun stepped forward and grabbed the other person's arm. Seeing that she could no longer ignore him, Lin Qiong reluctantly turned around and asked, "Huh?"

Fu Xingyun looked at the expression on the man's face but couldn't quite read it. "Don't you have anything to say to me?"

Lin Qiong's gaze darted away. "Yes."

Fu Xingyun released his grip on the other person's arm. "Speak."

Lin Qiong: "I'll be back in three days."

As soon as he finished speaking, he dashed out the door when no one was looking.

However, footsteps came from behind, and Lin Qiong turned around to find that the man had chased after her.

Startled, Lin Qiong quickened her pace, asking, "Why are you chasing me?"

Fu Xingyun: "Why are you running?"

Nonsense! If you chase me, I'll run away.

Perhaps because his legs had just recovered, he couldn't keep up after running a short distance and suddenly stumbled.

Lin Qiong paused for a moment, wanting to turn back to check on the other person, but ultimately forced herself to stay. She then turned and ran out of the villa area without looking back.

Still unsettled after getting into the minivan, Wang Cheng noticed the other person's frightened expression and asked, "What's wrong? Did you encounter a ghost in broad daylight?"

Lin Qiong: I guess so.

Wang Cheng was surprised by the other party's answer and asked curiously, "Who did you meet?"

"A living Hua Tuo."

"..."

Fu Xingyun was cured in twenty minutes.

Wang Cheng was speechless for a moment, then started the car and drove to the airport.

Lin Qiong sat in the car in silence the whole way, but suddenly said after boarding the plane, "I can participate in any future promotional activities."

Wang Cheng was taken aback. "What?"

Lin Qiong repeated once again, "I can participate in any future promotional activities."

"Your old perverted husband doesn't care about you anymore?"

Lin Qiong didn't know how to answer for a moment, then nodded up and down.

"Holy crap!" Wang Cheng exclaimed in surprise. Did the fact that the other party was no longer restricting Lin Qiong's activities mean that the initial novelty had worn off and they were just going to throw her away after they were done playing with her?

"That old pervert isn't going to leave you, is he? Are you getting a divorce?"

The two had agreed from the beginning that they would divorce once the other recovered from their illness. Now that Fu Xingyun has stood up, it should be time for them to divorce.

Lin Qiong looked at her fingers. "I guess so."

After hearing this, Wang Cheng understood. "I told you, this marriage won't last long. You're after his money and he's after her. It won't work out."

Lin Qiong heard this but did not refute it, though she felt a little stifled inside.

According to his previous plan, Fu Xingyun should have recovered, the two should have divorced, and then he should have taken the large sum of money he received after the divorce and fled far away to live a carefree life.

However, Lin Qiong is not happy at all right now.

When did Fu Xingyun stand up?

Why not tell him?

Has anyone already known that Fu Xingyun stood up, or perhaps everyone already knows but he is the only one unaware?

When facing Fu Xingyun just now, Lin Qiong did not voice her doubts.

Wang Cheng, unaware of the other person's feelings, couldn't stop talking once he started, "It's better to break up. There's a big age gap between you two, so there's bound to be a generation gap, and your relationship definitely won't go smoothly."

Lin Qiong watched as the flight attendants began serving airplane meals. After receiving her own portion, she didn't say anything and began to eat it with gusto.

Wang Cheng looked at it and thought, "Turning grief into appetite?"

"..."

Seeing that the person didn't speak, Wang Cheng silently handed his portion to them, saying, "Here, have some."

Lin Qiong was taken aback. "Aren't you going to eat?"

Wang Cheng noticed that the person wasn't in a good mood. "I'm not hungry, here you go."

Lin Qiong, with food stuffed in her mouth, suddenly felt her eyes sting, as if she had been transported back to her days as a homeless person. "Wang Cheng, you are such a good person."

Wang Cheng was startled when he saw it. "Damn, why the hell are your eyes red?"

This was the first time he had ever seen Lin Qiong lose control of her emotions. "What's wrong with divorce? Divorce is about looking forward to a new life."

Lin Qiong buried his head in his rice, eating one bite after another. If there were a mirror, he would have seen clearly that he looked exactly the same as when he found a hard steamed bun in the trash can and ate it.

He didn't know why his eyes were red, but when Wang Cheng said he would give him the food, he suddenly felt comforted by someone, which made all the grievances he had been suppressing inside him, which he himself was unaware of, burst out.

Feeling wronged, he stood up and didn't tell Fu Xingyun.

He felt even more aggrieved that the other party had kept it from him.

He longed for Fu Xingyun to stand up more than anyone else, just like a flower that had been painstakingly cultivated, only to be picked before he could even appreciate it.

Not even a single petal was left for himself.

Seeing that Lin Qiong was still in low spirits, Wang Cheng couldn't bear it any longer. After arriving at the hotel, he grabbed Lin Qiong's shoulders and shook her violently, "What are you so sad about?!"

Lin Qiong didn't say anything.

Wang Cheng: "Why did you marry him in the first place?"

Lin Qiong: "Money."

"Can I get money in a divorce?!"

Lin Qiong's eyes lit up instantly, "Of course!"

"Then why are you still sad?"

Yes, Lin Qiong was also a little confused about why she had been sad just now. Once Fu Xingyun's leg was healed, they could get a divorce, and he wouldn't have to live in fear anymore.

Before Lin Qiong could speak, he felt a sharp pain on his face. He saw Wang Cheng squeezing his face frantically with both hands, causing his fair cheeks to deform slightly and his mouth to turn into a chicken beak.

"Lin Qiong! Take this as a lesson to yourself. Money can't buy love. That old pervert only likes your youth and your looks. That's not love."

Lin Qiong was stunned.

He had acted in many stage plays about love in his past life, but he had never personally experienced what it was like. He had no relatives or lovers, and he had to figure out the emotions in the script on his own.

He had thought he had some feelings for Xingyun, but now that was being denied.

"Isn't that so?"

"Of course!" Wang Cheng said solemnly, "Love cannot be tainted by money, otherwise it would not be pure."

Seeing that the person looked dazed, Wang Cheng spoke again, "But from now on, nothing from before matters. Lin Qiong, many people like you now."

Lin Qiong: "Who?"

"stranger."

"..."

Seeing that people didn't understand, Wang Cheng changed his approach, saying, "You're a fan you've never met before, but now you're liked by many people."

Lin Qiong tentatively asked, "Me?"

"right."

Wang Cheng began to encourage her, "Look at you, you must be good-looking to be an actress. Your movie was well-received and you have good acting skills. Although you stumbled into a ditch before, you're only in your early twenties now. Lin Qiong, your good days are yet to come."

"You can find someone else after you divorce that old pervert," he said, patting the person on the shoulder. "As long as you change partners quickly, there's no sadness, only love."
