Chapter 93
Lin Qiong looked at the banknotes that had fallen in front of her and felt as if the sky had fallen.
"No! No way! No way!"
Lin Qiong roared as he tried to get up. The white sheets were covered with marks from his struggles, like a fish trapped in a net, unable to break free no matter how hard he struggled.
Fu Xingyun stood up slightly, casually placed his hand on Lin Qiong's shoulder, and with a little force, Lin Qiong was pressed back onto the bed again.
"Don't you love money the most?" As she spoke, her gaze moved down from the other person's fair neck to their struggling legs. The other person's legs were kicking wildly, and their skin was gradually turning a light red from the effort.
He didn't even have a piece of clothing to cover his body. Lin Qiong knew that the other person was looking him up and down. That gaze was like a raging fire that could gnaw at every inch of his skin. He was so scared that he was trembling all over.
He was scared, he wanted to leave, and the stares of strangers disgusted him.
Fu Xingyun watched with great interest as Lin Qiong's trembling waistline swayed, firm and slender, dazzlingly white.
"Are you scared?" he said, raising his hand to grasp her slender waist. "You know what fear is?"
Lin Qiong trembled even more violently. The heat from the other person's palm was so intense it hurt him. He tried to push them away, but it was no use.
For some reason, Lin Qiong couldn't stop thinking about Fu Xingyun.
If only Fu Xingyun were here.
If Fu Xingyun were here... if Fu Xingyun were here...
Lin Qiong's eyes instantly reddened.
If Fu Xingyun were here, he definitely wouldn't let anyone bully him.
But... but Fu Xingyun was angered away by him, angered by his repeated deceptions and lies.
In fact, he understood Fu Xingyun's goodness better than anyone else. Although he was impatient with him when they first got married, he still gave him a large room that he had never lived in for two lifetimes and a gold card. Apart from affection, he gave his lover everything a husband could give.
In the days that followed... Lin Qiong gripped the sheets beneath him tightly. Those days were the happiest and most carefree time of his life. Fu Xingyun would look at him with a tenderness he had never felt before, as if he were intoxicated by a pool of fine wine.
A cold person throws out a branch to you, like a brief respite from spring, never to return to cold, forever remaining in that vibrant scene.
Lin Qiong bit his lip in fear, his breathing becoming more and more rapid, his mind filled with the memory of Fu Xingyun confessing his feelings to him that day.
Fu Xingyun cautiously asked him if she could be with him.
He ran away, but his heart remained with the man and he never returned.
Only now did Lin Qiong realize that he wanted to be with the other person, to stay by their side, and to have them look at him with the same tenderness.
But the one glance he gave Fu Xingyun at today's event revealed an unfathomable depth in the other's eyes, devoid of the tenderness and affection he had shown before. That single look plunged him into despair.
He couldn't help but wonder if Fu Xingyun knew he had married him for money and didn't like him afterward.
Are you disappointed in him and will never love him again?
But what right does he have to continue loving her after all the things he's done?
He was the one who said he was leaving, he was the one who lied, and he was the one who ran away.
The large hand on her waist slid down, and Lin Qiong instantly felt a chill run down her spine. "Let go!!!"
Lin Qiong tried to pry those hands apart, but she had no strength at all.
Then, as if grasping at a straw, she said again, "Do you know who my husband is?!"
"You... if you dare touch me, you're dead!"
It was clearly a threat, but the voice trembled uncontrollably, making it impossible to discern any intimidation or threat.
Lin Qiong gasped for breath, her smooth, fair shoulders trembling, and she never stopped struggling.
Seeing that the hand already on her skin showed no sign of stopping, she broke out in a cold sweat and said fearfully, "My husband is Fu Xingyun! If you dare touch me, I'll tell him and he'll teach you a lesson!!!"
Fu Xingyun watched the person struggling helplessly on the bed, and felt a pang of sadness upon hearing their words.
It was only at this time that Lin Qiong would think of him.
Fu Xingyun knew better than anyone that if Lin Qiong hadn't been threatened, she wouldn't have thought of him or looked for him at all.
He's only needed now to escape his predicament.
The other party's agent's words, "old pervert," were still echoing in my ears.
As soon as Lin Qiong finished speaking, her hands stopped moving.
They seemed to be intimidated.
Lin Qiong breathed a huge sigh of relief almost instantly, and then collapsed onto the bed, feeling utterly exhausted, as if she had just been protected.
A hand slowly reached for the blankets to cover itself, but it was suddenly grabbed halfway through.
Lin Qiong's eyes widened instantly, and for a moment, the fear in her eyes seemed to overflow.
He shook off the other person and asked warily, "What are you going to do?! Aren't you scared?!"
The man countered with a question, "What are you afraid of?"
Lin Qiong, terrified, tried to scramble away, yelling, "Aren't you afraid my husband will punish you?!"
"Scolding me?" The man grabbed the man's ankle and pulled him back. "You're getting a divorce anyway, why is he lecturing me?"
"So what if I sleep with you tonight?"
The two have not made eye contact yet. Lin Qiong struggles with her back to him, while he, as the one in a high position, watches all of this.
He didn't seem pitiful at all when the other party was playing him; in fact, they were as arrogant as a little fox, completely bewitching him.
That's the kind of person he is; he'll retaliate against anyone who offends him.
Lin Qiong was originally an exception, but the other party's repeated rejections and avoidances made him no longer an exception.
When he learned of the lies behind the marriage, his first thought was not to blame him, but to finally understand why Lin Qiong didn't like him. That day, he drank a lot of alcohol and smashed everything he could in the house, but he didn't bother to damage her room.
He felt that Lin Qiong would come back someday, and she would be angry if she found her room in such a mess.
He liked Lin Qiong no matter what she looked like.
After the lawyer played the recording for him, he came over with his last glimmer of hope. After his anger subsided, he was filled with longing. He wanted to come and tell Lin Qiong that he didn't care and that it was okay.
Even if there are no feelings between them now, they can give it a try. He won't do things that Lin Qiong doesn't like, nor will he force her.
He lowered his standards to the maximum in the past thirty years, humbly wanting people to come back. Before that, Fu Xingyun had never bowed his head to anyone.
But how did he do it?!
Fu Xingyun looked at the person who was trembling incessantly, like a wounded little animal.
The other party didn't care about him at all.
To deny their past, and even to deny their existence.
When the host asked Lin Qiong if he had a lover, the moment he shook his head, his heart died.
His original sincerity and cherished qualities have begun to rot, and his humility has only resulted in an even greater indifference.
He couldn't take it anymore.
He must get what he likes, and if he can't get it, he won't mind destroying it.
Compared to those who had offended him before, Lin Qiong's offense was like a light drizzle.
But even this light drizzle was enough to terrify people, causing them to wail in pain.
Lin Qiong felt as if the sky had fallen, but the other person's voice continued, "You like money, spend one night with me, and I'll give you as much as you want."
"No...no...no..."
Lin Qiong stared at the banknotes scattered on the bed with bloodshot eyes. He didn't want them, not a single one.
Is money really what he desires most?
He lived two lives and still didn't understand life.
He has two things he desires most: wealth and affection.
The latter is more important than the former, but he sealed it up, so that not even the light could see it.
If he hadn't been scammed, if someone had helped him when he was down on his luck, even just a piece of bread would have been helpful...
But others have no obligation to do so, and he will never get to do it.
Nobody loves him...
This thought deeply affected him, so he decided to hide it since he didn't have it.
Even he forgot that the child who looked enviously at the families in the dessert shop after school initially only wanted affection.
The last barrier in her heart completely collapsed, and tears welled up in Lin Qiong's eyes.
Like beads from a broken string, the water flowed uncontrollably.
Fu Xingyun, who had originally planned to tease her a little longer, saw that she had stopped moving and reached out to pinch her leg, but Lin Qiong just buried her face deep in the quilt.
Fu Xingyun frowned. Since the other party was silent, there was no point in replying. He raised his hand and turned the person over.
Then, her eyes snapped open, and she saw Lin Qiong biting her lower lip tightly, tears streaming down her face as she cried silently.
The two hadn't faced each other at all, and looking at Lin Qiong now, Fu Xingyun was momentarily at a loss for what to do.
A piercing pain in my chest.
Tears welled up in the other person's eyes, and Fu Xingyun subconsciously raised his hand to wipe them away. His originally cold and hard voice softened instantly, "Why are you crying?"
It was clearly Lin Qiong who lied to him in the first place; he was just retaliating, but she cried like this before he even did anything.
Lin Qiong turned her head slightly to the side, half of her face lying on the snow-white bed, her eyes red, her nose red, and her messy hair stuck to her cheeks with tears.
Poor thing.
Seeing the person sobbing, Fu Xingyun instantly lost his temper, feeling a mix of frustration and regret, unwilling to accept the situation yet unable to bear it.
He had thought he would kill Lin Qiong, but after seeing her face, he couldn't bring himself to do it.
Before Fu Xingyun could remove his hand from wiping away the other person's tears, it was grabbed weakly. A trembling, sobbing voice said, "Please, please... please don't touch me."
"Please...please..."
Lin Qiong began to move, slowly getting up and kneeling naked on the bed. Her movements changed to grabbing the hem of someone's clothes and looking up at the person in charge with a pleading expression.
"Please, please... I don't want this money, I..." Lin Qiong clenched her hands, tears streaming down her face. She broke down and said, "I have someone I like, but I did something wrong. I'm afraid to see him. If you touch me, I'll never be able to see him again. Please... please let me go."
Lin Qiong sobbed incessantly, "Please, please."
"I...I can give you something else." With that, she lunged at the clothes beside her and began frantically rummaging through them, finally pulling out her salary card from her wallet in her pocket.
With trembling hands, he offered the money to the person, saying, "I'll give you money, please give me money."
"Here...here is all my money."
