Chapter 85
Lin Qiong spoke in a very relaxed tone, just like she used to ask him what he wanted to eat every day. Fu Xingyun carefully examined the other person's face, but he couldn't read a trace of sadness in her.
The divorce, as the other person described it, was as casual and ordinary as deciding what to eat every night.
The man stood there, staring intently at the person for a long time. "What did you say?"
Lin Qiong looked at the person and repeated, "Go get a divorce."
He then pulled his salary card out of his pocket with two fingers, saying, "It's my treat."
The man took a deep breath, his sharp eyebrows furrowed, his face as black as if smeared with soot, and his tall and upright figure stood in front of me like a human wall.
Why did you get divorced?
The man's voice was flat and his tone was frighteningly cold; his hands, hanging at his sides, were clenched tightly.
He had everything prepared before Lin Qiong returned.
He quickly flipped through all three books, and there was still a small note with a confession in his left trouser pocket. He also knew very well that he shouldn't have kept Lin Qiong from telling her that his leg was healed.
However, the phrase he always added after comforting her, "We'll get a divorce once you're better," was undoubtedly a form of invisible pressure.
It felt like a thousand-pound weight was pressing down on his chest, making it hard for him to breathe.
Only after talking with Qin Heng did he realize how unfair this was to Lin Qiong.
But Lin Qiong said she loved him, and all her actions when she was with him showed her feelings for him. Now he has also fallen in love with Lin Qiong. Since the two of them have feelings for each other, why get a divorce?
Fu Xingyun asked directly what was on her mind, "Why do you want a divorce?"
Lin Qiong touched his head, a subconscious gesture when he was conflicted. "Didn't we agree before that we would get a divorce once you recovered?"
He didn't know why she was angry. He had mentioned it to her on their wedding day and often brought it up in their daily lives, but she hadn't seemed this angry then.
"Never leave."
Lin Qiong thought he had misheard. "What?"
The man remained calm and said, "No divorce."
"Why?!" Lin Qiong grabbed the person's arm excitedly. "Wasn't this agreed upon from the beginning?"
Fu Xingyun couldn't give a reason, and it was still the same old phrase: "I won't leave."
Lin Qiong looked at the person with puzzled eyes, as if she had been cheated out of five million. "Then you have to give me a reason."
Fu Xingyun looked slightly embarrassed after hearing this, and after a long while, he managed to stammer out, "I'm sick."
Lin Qiong: "..."
For a moment, the meaning of this sentence became ambiguous.
Seeing that no one objected, Fu Xingyun continued, "My illness is not cured yet, so I cannot get a divorce."
If the other party doesn't agree to a divorce, doesn't that mean I won't get any money and can't live a life of leisure anymore?!
Lin Qiong became emotional, "Your leg is better now, isn't it? When we said you were better, we meant your leg was better."
"You didn't explain it clearly back then, so I didn't know, therefore that previous promise doesn't count."
Lin Qiong's eyes widened in disbelief; she simply couldn't believe Fu Xingyun was so shameless.
They didn't even feel a trace of guilt for breaking their promise.
Fu Xingyun wasn't like this before.
When they first got married, his wife would hesitate for a long time before he entered her room; she was incredibly shy.
So you're still refusing to get a divorce?
The man answered decisively, "Yes."
Lin Qiong felt a sudden darkness before her eyes. The divorce she had imagined burst out the door and sped wildly down the absurd avenue.
But he couldn't stay by her side any longer; if he did, the tragic fate might befall him.
"no."
Fu Xingyun frowned: "Why?"
“Because I’m a person who keeps my promises.” Lin Qiong pointed to herself as she spoke, “A model of discipline, a pioneer of morality.”
Fu Xingyun said, "You don't have to abide by these rules in front of me."
Lin Qiong was startled. "How can that be? Be strict with yourself and lenient with others."
"You'll abide by all of these?"
Lin Qiong nodded proudly, "Of course."
"Then you must now fulfill the following promise: be tolerant of me and do not file for divorce."
"..."
He never imagined he would get himself caught in this trap.
Lin Qiong frowned and pointed at the person, saying, "What you're doing is wrong. You should be strict with yourself and lenient with others."
He pointed back and forth as he spoke, "Let's all do the second one, so they cancel each other out."
Fu Xingyun looked down at the person and asked, "What if I don't do it?"
"You're such a jerk!"
"..."
Lin Qiong blurted it out almost without thinking. Only after she finished speaking did she realize what she had said. She shrank back, glanced at the person furtively, and quickly explained, "That's not what I meant. I meant that it's not good."
As he spoke, he gently patted the person's arm as a form of reassurance.
Lin Qiong suddenly felt her legs go weak and pulled Fu Xingyun to sit down for a while.
The man looked at him and asked, "Where are you going?"
"I'm tired, let's go sit down for a while." As if afraid that the person would disagree and want to stand there forever, Lin Qiong gently shook the person's arm.
These few shakes went straight to the heart; the man's eyes couldn't leave the other person.
Since the other party wants to sit for a while, it means there is still room for maneuver between the two of them.
Fu Xingyun was led to sit on the sofa, and Lin Qiong started to chatter, "Look, your leg is all better now, you can go wherever you want without my help."
Fu Xingyun's previously relaxed expression stiffened. "I don't want to hear this."
"I'm trying to reason with you."
"You'll get a divorce after I've explained everything to you?"
Lin Qiong nodded.
Fu Xingyun took a deep breath. "Lin Qiong, I have something to say to you now. Please wait until I finish before you consider whether or not you want a divorce."
Seeing the man's sincere gaze, Lin Qiong felt somewhat awkward. Was he about to tell him some secret? What if the other party tried to cover it up later and killed him to silence him?
Lin Qiong's fair fingers intertwined as she stared at her fingertips in thought, when the man suddenly gripped her shoulder tightly.
"Lin Qiong," the man said, forcing her to look at him, his tone sincere, "I like you."
Lin Qiong was taken aback. "Huh?"
"I like you," Fu Xingyun said again.
“Although our marriage was a mess from the beginning, we didn’t get married because of love, and I was even very cold to you, it’s not your fault, it’s my own problem.” She took a deep breath as she spoke, “But now I’ve fallen in love with you, Lin Qiong. I love that you’re by my side every day, talking to me and doing things I’ve never done before.”
"I didn't mean to keep the fact that my leg is healed from you. I was afraid you would divorce me, so I didn't tell you. I was afraid that if I brought it up, you would leave me. I can't live without you now. I love you, and I hope that we can be together every day from now on, and that our marriage won't be as chaotic as it was before. We still have feelings for each other."
Fu Xingyun knew that Lin Qiong had feelings for him. When they got married, she said it was because she loved him, and their life together afterward showed that. It couldn't be fake.
Fu Xingyun looked at the person and said, "I've finished speaking, so what's your answer now?"
Lin Qiong said "Oh," and then added, "Divorce."
Fu Xingyun: !
This is not what I expected!!!
Why do you still want a divorce?
Lin Qiong: "There's no reason, I just want to."
"But now we have love."
"Love can't put food on the table."
"..." Fu Xingyun: "So you're saying you don't need my love?"
Lin Qiong lowered her head shyly, "I like it when someone is a little cold to me."
Fu Xingyun: "..."
Excellent.
"But don't worry, we'll still be friends after the divorce, and I'll come to see you often." Lin Qiong said these words against his will, knowing that as soon as they were divorced, he would take the money he received and run away.
Fu Xingyun didn't know why the other party insisted on divorce. "Are you still angry that I didn't tell you your leg was healed?"
Lin Qiong shook his head. To be honest, he did feel a little wronged on the day he found out that the other party's leg was healed. But after thinking about it carefully, he didn't seem to have any right to do so. He married Fu Xingyun for money, and he had no right to lose his temper with someone because of feelings.
"No." Lin Qiong shook her head and smiled, "I stopped caring a long time ago. I'm really happy for you that your leg is healed."
As she spoke, she looked at the other person and said, "You must have had a very tough time during your rehabilitation."
Presumably, his leg gradually improved during the months he was doing promotional work. He needed medication to manage his mental state, and the rehabilitation process was a blow to both his body and mind.
Lin Qiong couldn't imagine how Fu Xingyun had fallen, collapsed, and gotten back up again and again.
Fortunately, the final result was good.
"I will not get a divorce."
A cold, indifferent voice drifted over, "I advise you to give up this idea as soon as possible."
Lin Qiong suddenly looked up at the other person, "You broke your promise!"
Fu Xingyun: "I never said I wanted a divorce."
"You promised me back then."
"I don't remember."
Very good, excellent.
Lin Qiong stood up abruptly, but her hand was still being held tightly in someone's hand. "Then let's separate for six months and then get a divorce. I'll go pack my bags now."
However, the other person was so strong that Lin Qiong was pulled back as soon as she took a step.
I disagree.
Lin Qiong panicked for a moment, "Then I won't agree to a divorce!"
Fu Xingyun gripped the other's wrist tightly, his rationality slowly fading from his mind, and his tone unconsciously became pressured, "I've said it before, we won't get a divorce, and don't even think about leaving."
The man took the person upstairs and locked them in a room. He only let the person out after changing the password on the front door, and then locked himself in the study.
The door suddenly opened, and Lin Qiong rushed out, but there was no one outside.
A loud noise came from the study not far away, one after another, making people's hearts tremble. He knew that Fu Xingyun was smashing things.
He then quickly went downstairs with his suitcase, only to find the door automatically locked when he tried to leave.
Lin Qiong: !
Standing in the messy study, Fu Xingyun gradually calmed down, telling himself that the door was locked and Lin Qiong couldn't escape now.
He then opened the door to check on the other person, but no one was in the room, so he went downstairs. As soon as the man stepped into the living room, he felt a gentle breeze.
Looking to the side, I saw white curtains fluttering and floor-to-ceiling windows wide open.
