Chapter 105 Good Doctor

While Ye Qiuxuan was working, Bai Qingqing, feeling bored, decided to go to a traditional Chinese medicine pharmacy to buy some herbs to make a skincare product for moisturizing her skin.

Bai Qingqing felt that her face was a little dry and uncomfortable.

Just then, Dr. Meng came to visit Bai Qingqing with a bunch of gifts.

When Bai Qingqing accepted the gift from Dr. Meng, she noticed that Dr. Meng had dark circles under her eyes and looked exhausted, much like Ye Qiuxuan.

It's obvious that he hasn't had enough rest for a long time and has been staying up too late.

"Dr. Meng, are there many sick children lately? You look very tired."

Dr. Meng raised her hand to touch her face, then couldn't help but turn her head and yawn before saying, "Many."

"There have always been plenty."

"The main problem is that there are too few pediatricians in our city. Every hospital is short of pediatricians."

There are many sick children and relatively few pediatricians, so we're always very busy.

"It's April again now. People dress haphazardly in February, April, and August. The weather is unpredictable every day. Because of the chaotic clothing, more children catch colds than usual, making us even busier."

Our hospital's pediatrics department originally had four doctors, but two of them fell ill from exhaustion a couple of days ago and are still hospitalized here. They are not yet able to work.

Right now, it's just me and one other colleague in the entire pediatrics department. I've been working three consecutive all-nighters, only managing to get about an hour of sleep intermittently in between.

"I see!"

Bai Qingqing had a look of sudden realization on her face, and then said, "You can't keep going like this! Dr. Meng, you're just a mortal, you're not made of iron."

"If you keep pushing yourself like this, you won't be able to take it anymore. You should rest properly before seeing patients again!"

Dr. Meng shook her head, looking exhausted, and said, "I'll try to get through this. I'll rest once my colleague is better recovered and able to work."

"Many of the children who come to our hospital are transferred from other cities in our province. They come here because the local hospitals can't treat them."

They have come from afar, and many of them come from poor families. We should treat them as soon as possible and provide them with the necessary medical care.

"If we work a little harder, we can alleviate the children's suffering sooner and save their families money. In our provincial capital, even a meal is expensive, let alone anything else."

"I see!"

Bai Qingqing raised her hand and gave Dr. Meng a thumbs up: "Dr. Meng, you are such a good doctor. You are so considerate of your patients."

Dr. Meng smiled and said, "I love hearing that. My purpose in studying medicine is to help many sick people in this world get rid of the torment of disease and become a good doctor who saves lives. My dream is to become a good doctor like my grandfather."

"Then keep going, but you look really bad, Dr. Meng. You need to rest and take care of your health so that you can continue treating and saving lives for longer."

“If I didn’t lack a medical license and couldn’t treat the sick child in your place, I would have liked to take over for you.”

Bai Qingqing truly thought so, but in this world, practicing medicine without a medical license is considered illegal.

If we're not careful, it could cause trouble for the hospital where Dr. Meng works, so let's just forget about it.

Upon hearing Bai Qingqing's words, Dr. Meng saw Ye Qiuxuan hand her a cup of hot water.

"Thank you!" Dr. Meng said, then nodded to Ye Qiuxuan, took the hot water from Ye Qiuxuan's hand, took a sip, and said, "Bai Qingqing, I appreciate your encouragement, but I'll just hang in there. In two more days at most, my colleague will be able to work."

"You don't have a medical license, so you really shouldn't treat people casually. Otherwise, if someone reports you, you'll be in trouble. A criminal record will affect three generations of your family."

I appreciate your kindness on behalf of those sick children. Let's talk about it again after you pass your medical licensing exam.

"By the way, Bai Qingqing, I came here today to learn that acupressure technique from you. I have a patient who is allergic to anesthesia, but he needs to have surgery as soon as possible. I was worried about what to do, and when I heard that you were awake, I came here as soon as possible."

"Give me your bank card number for the tuition fee, and I'll have my brother transfer it to you later."

Dr. Meng raised her hand and scratched her hair, looking a little embarrassed.

After all, he came to see Bai Qingqing as soon as she woke up, which meant he had a purpose.

Bai Qingqing was surprised that Dr. Meng had come to see her so quickly; now she knew why.

I thought to myself, what a dedicated and conscientious doctor he is.

Bai Qingqing waved her hand and said, "Tuition is not required. I will teach you for free, since you are such a good doctor."

"Since you're not resting, I'll teach you now. I happen to have some free time..."

Before Bai Qingqing could finish speaking, a nurse rushed in, looking flustered, and said, "Dr. Meng, Dr. Meng, the patient in bed number 2 has suddenly started convulsing and vomiting blood! You need to go and take a look!"

Upon hearing the nurse's words, Dr. Meng's expression changed, and she immediately shoved the water glass in her hand into Bai Qingqing's hand.

He then said, "Bai Qingqing, I'll go take care of my business first. I'll come back to learn from you later or just ask you for help."

After speaking, Dr. Meng rushed out of the ward and headed towards the pediatrics department without waiting for Bai Qingqing's reply.

The nurses hurriedly followed Dr. Meng.

Bai Qingqing looked out the door and saw that Doctor Meng was being chased by a ghost, running incredibly fast.

They're practically leaving afterimages as they run.

Bai Qingqing turned around, threw the water glass in her hand into the trash can, and looked at Ye Qiuxuan with a sigh: "Being a doctor must be really tiring. Not only do he have to stay up all night continuously, but he also has to be fast."

Ye Qiuxuan turned to look at Bai Qingqing and nodded with a smile: "Indeed."
