Chapter 208 Disappearance
Mu Jianjian originally thought that she would be afraid to sleep at night because she was alone in a foreign place, but she didn't expect to have a dreamless night. She even got up early to carefully investigate the distribution of the guards in the mansion.
She couldn't help but marvel at how much better she was at coping with stress.
The next day, before Mu Jianjian could even ask Baili Yicheng about Wan Xing, he arrived at her courtyard early in the morning, disheveled, seemingly having enjoyed himself with the concubines in the courtyard the previous night.
"Little beauty!" Baili Yicheng grabbed Mu Jianjian's hands, his strength almost turning her fair wrists red and purple. Fueled by alcohol, he moved with extreme speed, giving her no time to react.
"If Young Master Baili didn't sleep last night, he should get some rest today." Mu Jianjian glanced at the red dot on the other's neck and gave a standard fake smile.
"As I said, I would talk to you about the half-demon today, and I have kept my word. I arrived at your courtyard early this morning. Isn't that an honor for you?"
Mu Jianjian felt her hand being pulled painfully, but for a moment she couldn't find a reasonable way to let go.
"Young Master Baili, you're drunk." She glanced at the guards behind the man, gesturing for them to help him away, but the guards didn't budge.
Mu Jianjian took a deep breath, suppressing the urge to slap the man in front of her to death.
If he hadn't been coming, she would have gone to find Wan Xing already, okay?
But this is for the best.
She looked up at the guard, and even though he was an ordinary person with no cultivation, she did not flinch when she met his gaze. "Young Master Baili said yesterday that he would come with me to see the half-demon in the manor today. Now he is drunk and unconscious, so you can lead the way."
It was clearly a very imposing sentence, but Mu Jianjian's tone was as if she were asking "How's the weather today?"—calm and authoritative without any hint of anger.
"But...but..." The guard hesitated, not daring to look at Baili Yicheng, who was drunk, and for a moment he couldn't tell whether the woman in front of him was lying or not.
If this is a lie... would anyone be so bold as to do this in front of the young master?
"Didn't you hear everything just now?" Mu Jianjian asked rhetorically. "My words may not be credible, but you must have heard clearly what the young master just said, right?"
"But what the young master just said was—" the guard asked, puzzled.
The young master just said it was news, not to go see, right?
"If your hesitation causes any delays, you can think about the consequences yourself," Mu Jianjian said with a sneer as she saw that Baili Yicheng was still drunk. "Besides, it's not my business. Believe it or not, it's up to you. If you don't want to, then forget it and wait for the young master to reward or punish you."
Before Mu Jianjian could throw Baili Yicheng off her, the guards, amidst threats, agreed to take her to the place where the people were being held.
Are you sure this is a place where people are being held?
The guards helped Baili Yicheng to the front, while Mu Jianjian followed behind, watching the two land in a large courtyard, and asked a question.
"yes."
Using Baili Yicheng, who was drunk, as a human token, Mu Jianjian was not hindered. She slowly walked into the house and vaguely saw a pool of blood.
My heart sank instantly.
Mu Jianjian hurriedly walked into the room. The dark room was covered with blood-soaked straw, but there was no one there.
She turned to look at Baili Yicheng, "Where is she?"
"Little beauty, isn't the person right here?" Baili Yicheng was startled by the murderous intent that flashed in the other person's eyes. He stood up from the door and pointed inside after his mind cleared up a bit.
He was still waiting to use this half-demon to negotiate business with the Red Mansion and then get Yun Rong back. He had sent so many people here, how could they possibly disappear?
She's gone.
"How could this be!" Upon hearing this, Baili Yicheng sobered up considerably. In his panic, he didn't notice the girl's tone. He rushed into the room and saw that it was empty. His anger surged.
"I gave you all the job to guard even one person, and you can't even keep a proper watch on him!"
If sound had real power, it could probably break through the roof.
Mu Jianjian carefully observed Baili Yicheng's expression. Seeing that he didn't seem to be acting or deceiving anyone, she lost interest in staying there any longer.
Walking quickly back to her courtyard, before she even saw the gate, Mu Jianjian spotted a woman waiting at the entrance in the distance.
The woman wore a magnificent, floor-length dress, her cheeks flushed like clouds in the sky illuminated by sunlight. She held a dark brown wooden box in her hands, as if she had been waiting for a long time.
"Miss Mu."
"Excuse me... who are you?" Mu Jianjian smiled gently, but her demeanor was clearly distant.
