Chapter 296 Little Footprints

Fu Xi looked around suspiciously like a thief, and when no one was around, she couldn't wait to rush out, wanting to rush to the company gate in one go.

He was stopped by security guards as soon as he reached the entrance. "Whose child are you? How did you get out of here?"

"I went to the wrong place, I'll leave right now," Fu Xi explained in her childish voice, her chubby little hands unable to break free from the security guard's large grip.

All she wanted to do was leave as quickly as possible so that no one would notice anything amiss.

"Wrong place? I've been guarding this place the whole time, and I haven't seen you go in. Tell me! What's going on? Where are your parents?" The security guard's expression was serious.

You know, the company keeps all confidential information. Who knows if this kid is here to gather information for someone else? It's best to be cautious.

"I really went to the wrong place. There are no adults here. Let me go..." Fu Xi struggled with all her might.

Compared to the security guard's towering figure, her petite frame was utterly vulnerable. She thought she was speaking fiercely, but her childish voice only made her sound unreasonable.

“You can’t leave like this without an adult. There are cars on the main road. I’ll help you find a policeman to take you home.”

The security guard, acting with great righteousness, made the phone call for the little girl, and soon Fu Xi was taken away by the police.

It made her feel like she had no will to live.

Isn't this security guard a little too "helpful"?

...

...

At the Huo family villa, Wen Xiyang arrived for a follow-up examination with a furrowed brow. He could only provide some temporary emergency treatment and immediately gave instructions.

"Last time, my leg hadn't fully healed when I fell from such a height, leaving me with aftereffects. Whenever it rains, the dampness makes my leg hurt. I should try to stay in bed as much as possible on rainy days and avoid moving around. I'll go to the hospital for a check-up when I feel better to see how my bones are recovering."

"Hmm." Huo Lin responded lightly. After Wen Xiyang's emergency treatment, his leg was much better. If it hadn't been raining, he would have almost forgotten that his leg was still injured.

"Or you could try listening to Xun, maybe she can do some more treatments to help you recover. I can't do anything about it, after all, I'm not an orthopedic specialist and I don't know much about it."

Wen Xiyang suddenly spoke up again, unable to resist advising Huo Lin, who was arrogant and unlikely to show weakness to Xun Ting and seek help.

They might stubbornly refuse to tell Xunting.

"Okay, go out." Huo Lin responded indifferently, closed his eyes to rest, and rubbed his head, which ached a little.

Wen Xiyang guessed that the man wouldn't say anything, so it seemed he would have to tell Xun Ting next time he encountered him.

Knowing that Fu Xi was still waiting for him at the company, he didn't linger any longer. "Okay, then take care and get some rest."

When Wen Xiyang arrived at the company in the pouring rain, it was empty; there wasn't a single person there.

He frowned deeply and asked his assistant in the next room, "What happened? Where's Fu Xi?"

"Isn't the CEO in his office?"

Wen Xiyang couldn't help but chuckle. The person was gone, yet the assistant dared to say she was still there—how "responsible" of her! He went downstairs to ask the security guard, who also said that Fu Xi hadn't come out.

The man's expression instantly turned awkward. He hadn't come out; where could he have gone? He was a grown man.

The security guard thought for a moment and added, "The only person who came out today was a strange little girl; we don't know where she came from."

"Little girl?"

"Yes, I was worried she would get lost, so I checked her with the police." The security guard nodded.

Wen Xiyang recalled the last time Fu Xi left his villa, there were small footprints that suddenly appeared in his villa, like those of a child... He immediately went out and rushed to the police station.
