"I've heard about your situation, and I can't leave you for a moment." Huo Lin put all the luggage in the room and then made up the sofa.
It was obvious they were planning to spend the night together in this room.
Xun Ting felt a headache coming on. He didn't know whether keeping this disobedient caregiver was a good thing or a bad thing. Didn't he even know that men and women shouldn't touch each other?
"..."
"Listen, call me if you need anything." Huo Lin took out his laptop, sat on the sofa, and started typing. He didn't seem to be there to help someone with work at all; instead, he seemed to be there to have fun.
She selectively turned a blind eye to what was going on, since she was the one who had kept the man.
If it were anyone else who dared to threaten her like that, she would have called someone to take them away long ago, but she actually softened her heart just now.
Realizing her own attitude, Xun Ting couldn't help but smile. Was she really that obsessed with looks?
The man, who had been intently staring at the computer, suddenly looked up at her, his voice magnetic and captivating, "Don't you think I'm handsome?"
Startled by the voice, she looked away and said, "No."
"Hmm." Huo Lin lowered his head and continued looking at the computer, showing no displeasure at her words. He had always been a hypocrite.
Even in their own world, when they're together, they're already incredibly hypocritical, so in this unfamiliar world, they're even more hypocritical.
Neither of them spoke a word all afternoon until Xun Ting woke up from her nap.
"Pour me a glass of water."
"Okay." Huo Lin immediately put down his computer, got up from the sofa, went to the table to pour her water, thoughtfully inserted a straw, and half-squatted down to make it easier for her to drink.
Xun Ting drank half a glass and then stopped. "Bring me my phone, then you can go play."
"Okay." Huo Lin took her phone without hesitation and placed it on the bedside table, then sat back down on the sofa.
Xun Ting immediately called the person who had helped her find a caregiver, saying, "Find me another female caregiver."
The person on the other end of the phone immediately retorted, "Why do we need to find another one? Wasn't the young man we sent today good enough?"
"It's not that he's bad, it's just that he's a man and I'm a woman, so there are many inconveniences." Xun Ting was really speechless about this person. As a woman, she was already facing many inconveniences by hiring a male caregiver, and she dared to ask if this man was good or not?
Even if it's good, it's still inconvenient.
"Hey, Senior Xun, you're both single, and you're only three years apart. Maybe you'll develop feelings for each other while you're taking care of each other?" came the ambiguous voice from the other end.
The implication in his words was very strong.
"..." Xun Ting was completely speechless. Who would be crazy enough to like such a burden as her? Liking her would mean taking care of her for the rest of your life, never leaving her side.
Everyone has their own private life. How could someone possibly take care of a disabled person at home every day? Not to mention outsiders, even one's own family members would find it unacceptable.
Xunting was very self-aware about this; she only wanted to live out her days alone.
"Just listen to me, let him take care of you. If you still don't feel comfortable after a week, then we'll talk about it." Seeing that she didn't speak, the person on the other end assumed she agreed and eagerly added.
Without giving Xun Ting another chance to speak, she hung up the phone. After all, she had been paid! And that young man seemed quite nice.
