Chapter 2 If I don’t cheat my father, who else will I cheat?

"Si Ya, are you feeling better?" Her father Xia Zhengan came in and asked hesitantly, feeling a little guilty and not daring to look at Xia Tian.

Xia Tian was furious when she saw her father being so useless. Her grandmother wanted to sell her. Her mother even scolded her grandmother twice, but it was of no use.

But her father just squatted in the corner of the yard with his hands on his head, not even farting.

Xia Tian gritted his teeth and said harshly, "Dad, go tell grandma that I agree to get married, but there's one condition. I want to eat now, so ask grandma to make me a bowl of noodles. I want pure white noodles. Also, give me one or two taels of silver as a deposit. If grandma doesn't agree, then wait for your body to be collected!"

In the Xia family, only the original owner's fourth uncle who was studying in the county town was qualified to eat white flour noodles. Old Mrs. Xia usually watched them closely, and anyone who was greedy and wanted to have a bite would be pointed at and scolded for a long time.

Not to mention money, Old Lady Xia has always taken in money but never spent it, except for her fourth uncle.

Why let her father say it?

Of course, whoever brought it up would be scolded. It was because her father always looked like a spoiled brat, and his mother bullied his wife and children, but he never dared to say a word in reply and just let his wife and children endure it.

Just this time, the original owner was married to a sickly man, and her father didn't dare to say a word.

If I don’t cheat now, when will I cheat?

Just consider it as a way to vent the original owner's anger.

Only after watching her father walk out the door with his shoulders slumped did Xia Tian feel a little better.

After a while, the roar and cursing of Old Lady Xia were heard coming from the upper room.

Listening to the scolding coming from the upper room, Xia Tian rubbed his ears, his body slowly relaxed, his head felt dizzy, and he fell asleep in a short while.

I don’t know what her father said to Old Lady Xia in the end, nor do I know how long she slept. When Xia Tian was woken up by Xia Yue, she opened her eyes and looked at the old wooden roof. She was stunned for a long time before she reacted.

Seeing that Xia Tian had woken up, Xia Yue hurriedly handed her the old porcelain bowl and chopsticks in her hand.

Xia Tian took the bowl and looked at the full bowl of white noodles with a tender white poached egg on top. Her resentment towards her father was reduced a little.

This dad is not completely useless.

At this time, his stomach started to growl, and Xia Tian smiled embarrassedly at Xia Yue.

"Sister, do you want to eat?"

"Sister has eaten, Si Ya, come and eat quickly." Xia Yue said softly.

Xia Tian was extremely hungry at this time, so he didn't hesitate and started eating the food with the bowl in his hand.

"Oh, I never thought that plain noodles could be so delicious." Xia Tian sighed in his heart. He used to say that he wanted to lose weight every day and refused to eat this or that. But now, he can't eat anything he wants.

Xia Yue felt a little sad when she saw her sister wolfing down the food. Si Ya was only fifteen years old and was about to marry a sickly man who didn't know how long he could live.

This sister has been strong-willed and assertive since she was young, and no one knows what kind of life awaits her in the future.

Xia Tian was halfway through her meal when her stomach felt a little better. She looked up and found Xia Yue staring at her.

"Sister, what's wrong?"

"It's okay, eat quickly."

Xia Tian nodded to Xia Yue and was about to continue eating when he saw the door curtain move and two children about six or seven years old rushed in.

A boy and a girl, they were the original owner's twin siblings, Xia Shi and Xia Chen. Xia Chen was the youngest sister, nicknamed Wu Ya.

In fact, both children are nine years old this year. Because they have not had enough to eat all year round and have to work hard, they are thin and small, and look only about six or seven years old.

"Fourth sister, are you awake? Does your head still hurt?" Xia Shi grabbed Xia Tian's sleeve and asked with concern. Wu Ya stood beside her with a worried look on her face.

"Fourth sister is fine. It doesn't hurt anymore." Xia Tian replied with a smile, raising his hand to rub his younger brother and sister's head.

"Sister, we were so worried about you. Mom said you fell asleep and wouldn't let us in." Xia Shi said aggrievedly, and Wu Ya nodded.

The original owner had a hot-tempered personality and was very protective of her younger siblings. She usually protected her two younger siblings the most at home, so Xia Shi and Xia Chen were also very attached to her.

Xia Tian felt comforted when she saw the two little ones relying on her.

"Xiao Shi, Wu Ya, can you two do me a favor?" Xia Tian felt bad when he saw his younger brother and sister secretly peek at the bowl of noodles and swallow their saliva.

"What can I help you with? Fourth sister, tell me." The two children looked up and asked with their big eyes.

"Help me eat the remaining noodles. Fourth sister is full and a little bloated." Xia Tian touched his stomach and handed over half a bowl of noodles.

Xia Shi and Xia Chen looked at each other and shook their heads, "Sister, you eat, we've already eaten."

Xia Tian looked at the sensible children and deliberately frightened them, "What should I do? I'm full, and my eldest sister won't eat either. How about giving it to my third uncle's younger brother?"

Xia Yue felt a little sad watching from the side. The two little ones had never eaten white flour noodles in their lives. Of course, she had never eaten them either.

Xia Yue knew what Xia Tian was thinking, that he just wanted to give some white noodles to his two younger brothers and sisters, so she chimed in, "Then give it to Xiao Nan."

"No." Xia Shi and Xia Chen said at the same time, "We won't give it to Xia Nan. Third Aunt always bullies us, and Xia Nan likes to complain and ask grandma to beat us."

Xia Nan is the youngest son of my third uncle, and he is six years old this year.

Speaking of the names of the Xia family's children, they are relatively normal, much better than Goudan and Chutou in the village.

Because in the summer I had a fourth uncle who was studying in the county town. Although he had taken the exam for many years and had not even passed the examination to become a student, he still acted like a scholar.

In order to show that he was a scholar and cultured, a few years ago, her fourth uncle gave all the children in the family formal names. Although they were still like east, south, west, north, mountains, rivers and streams, they were at least much more normal than those given by the villagers.

Although family members and villagers are still used to calling them Erya, Sanya and Siya.

However, the boy was called by his full name at the strong request of his fourth uncle.

Xia Tian looked at her younger brothers and sisters happily eating noodles, and wondered if she had gotten the one or two taels of silver from her father.

Until bedtime at night.

No one else had ever come in except the people from their second room.

Xia Tian was thinking about something and didn't know when he fell asleep.

The next morning, Xia Tian was woken up by her mother after the rooster crowed twice.

Looking at the dark sky outside, I estimated that it should be around three or four in the morning.

Xia Tian sat up, fumbled to put on his clothes, and moved to the side. Xia Yue, who was sleeping next to him, had already gotten up. Now, only Xia Chen's shallow breathing could be heard on the kang.

Xia Tian got off the kang quietly, fumbled to put on his shoes, lifted the curtain and walked out of the room.

This was the first time I left the room after coming here yesterday. Unfortunately, it was so dark that I couldn't see anything clearly.

Seeing Xiatian dressed and coming out, Chen urged her to wash up quickly.

Xiatian feels much better today than yesterday. The swelling on her head has gone down a little and she is not as dizzy anymore.

Hearing Chen's urging, Xia Tian first went to the outhouse in the backyard. After coming back, he found a wooden basin and slowly went to the kitchen to scoop water to wash his face.

When she finished washing up, there was a hint of light in the sky.
