I suddenly opened my eyes, my forehead covered in beads of sweat, and even my clothes were mostly soaked.
"You're awake?" Yu Shaoqing excitedly pulled me along.
I blinked weakly at him, and I don't know when, but the veil was back on.
"What about Ye Lisheng? How is he?"
Seeing how nervous and worried I was, Yu Shaoqing seemed to have a hint of disappointment in his eyes.
As if he didn't want me to know, he lowered his head and made an excuse to get some water.
"If you don't tell me, I'll go see for myself."
I struggled to get out of bed and stumbled as I ran outside.
Just as they reached Ye Lisheng's door, they heard Ye Xuanling's sorrowful cries coming from inside: "Sixth Brother, you must hold on!"
"Boom!!!"
Just then, a loud rumble of thunder sounded in the sky, and dark clouds loomed overhead, indicating that a storm was about to break out.
It hasn't rained in Lan Yi for a long time. I remember the last time it rained was right after the trees opened.
I staggered into the house, my feet feeling like they were walking on cotton, and I almost fell with every step.
The doctor removed the silver needles from his body and shook his head with regret: "Your Highness's injuries are too severe, and I am powerless to help you."
He shook his head and walked out of the house, followed by Ye Xuanling: "Doctor, I will give you as much silver as you want, just please save my sixth brother."
"Your Highness, this is not a matter of money; it is simply that I am powerless to change the situation."
Ye Lisheng was right in front of me. His face was still pale and bloodless. At this moment, he was only breathing out and not breathing in.
My legs went weak and I knelt on the ground, stroking his face repeatedly with both hands.
"I've come back alive, so you must come back alive to see me too."
"Please, Ye Lisheng!" I pleaded, crying.
I hope he'll open his eyes in the next second, even if it's just to yell at me.
"Ye Lisheng, you can't break your promise!"
Although Yanran hated Ye Lisheng for betraying Qiu Kui and being with a strange woman, seeing him lying on the bed now made her cry uncontrollably, thinking it was a punishment from heaven.
She wiped away the tears from the corners of her eyes and silently left the room.
My heart aches terribly. It feels like someone is stabbing my heart repeatedly with a dull knife. It won't hurt me, but the pain is more agonizing than if I were dead.
"Please wake up!"
"Ye Lisheng, I think I'm starting to like you."
I don't know why I fell in love with someone so quickly, but I feel like I've known him and liked him for a long time.
"Ye Lisheng, I said I like you, did you hear me?"
"Drip, drip," the raindrops gently fell on the eaves and onto the bluestone slabs by the wall, creating a beautiful and melodious tune.
"I feel like I've known you for a long time."
"I've forgotten how long it's been; it seems like we were destined to be entangled together from our past lives."
"You're probably wondering why I'm so sure, because the illustrations in that booklet you showed me are totally my style."
“I recognized you the moment I saw you.”
Sometimes you have to believe that everything is predestined.
"If it weren't for that booklet, I wouldn't have known how serious you were when you practiced swordsmanship."
"So you like to sit alone in the courtyard, drinking tea and reading, and you can sit there for a whole morning."
"It turns out that you, who seem cold, also have the softest side inside."
"It turns out we've known each other for a long time."
The rain was falling heavily, as if it was in a hurry to wash something away.
Yu Shaoqing stood at the door and listened to everything I said. His heart felt like it was being torn apart.
She gave a somewhat desolate and powerless smile: "Even spending a lot of time together can't compare to him?"
"I did say I would repay you with my body."
When I was out of danger, I knew nothing about the world and regarded the only person I knew as my salvation.
You can't leave me behind.
"Come save me immediately if I'm in danger!"
Yu Shaoqing turned to look at me and smiled, his smile warmer than the sun: "(??ω??) What are the benefits of doing this?"
"Hey, isn't doing good deeds anonymous a traditional virtue of the Chinese nation?"
I thought for a moment and said, "If you don't mind, I'll repay you with my body!"
In the heat of the moment, I thought that there were very few people as handsome as him who also wanted me, so developing feelings and getting married wouldn't be a bad idea.
I agreed without really understanding what was going on.
Mai Su'er and her three brothers looked around the room and then at Yu Shaoqing, who looked dejected, before silently leaving.
"What's going on? Aren't Boss Qiu and Brother Yu getting married?"
"How come you're all lovey-dovey with the Prince of Anyang now?"
Mai Su'er tapped the skinny monkey on the head and said, "What do you know!"
"Love at any time."
"Tsk tsk tsk!" The fat man scrutinized Mai Su'er for a moment and said, "I didn't realize you knew so much."
"That's a must, don't you know who I am?"
"But why were you sold to a casino by your husband?" Skinny Monkey leaped up, his small body nimbly landing on his back and covering his mouth to prevent him from speaking.
Mai Su'er was pale and trembling all over, as if she had remembered something. She walked back into the house in a daze.
The skinny guy kicked him in the calf, making him howl in pain.
