"September...September"
Urgent calls echoed in Ye Lisheng's ears. His stern face furrowed, and a sudden pang of pain jolted him awake from his sleep. He clutched his chest, which still ached faintly.
"Who is September!"
Unseen by anyone, a patch of fiery red shimmered on the okra's forehead, and the shape of a flower could be vaguely discerned within it.
"Master, Ye Liming asked about today's unusual phenomena. How should I answer?" Mo Sheng, dressed in a red robe, asked the Celestial Master Wang Qiaochuan.
Upon hearing this, Wang Qiaochuan spread out his left palm, revealing a horrifying scar that appeared to have already scabbed over. He picked up a knife, about to cut it, when he saw a red glow emanating from the wound.
Seeing this strange phenomenon, he was filled with astonishment. He then swung his knife and cut into the scar. Bright red blood immediately spread, and he could vaguely hear a woman's scream.
Upon hearing the woman's voice, Mo Sheng's expression flashed with shock, and the one who screamed was none other than Qiu Kui, though Wang Qiaochuan was unaware of it at the moment.
A fleeting look of panic crossed Wang Qiaochuan's eyes. He smiled coldly, beckoned to Mo Sheng, and whispered something in his ear. Mo Sheng's brows furrowed slightly, his expression inscrutable.
After Mo Sheng left, Wang Qiaochuan slumped into his chair, muttering to himself, "You've come!" Then a wicked smile crept onto his lips.
Just as dawn was breaking, I felt my bed shaking violently. I woke up with a start: "Earthquake! Run!"
A few suppressed laughs came from above. Seeing the strange looks from the people around him, he realized that he had transmigrated.
Immediately following that, a harsh voice came from above: "You dare to sleep in on your first day on duty? Don't you want to eat?!"
He glanced at the fierce-looking old woman and asked calmly, "What instructions do you have?"
"I'll teach you how to be a proper maid!"
As if she'd heard the biggest joke in the world: "Auntie, are you going through menopause?"
Suddenly, the old woman produced a leather whip from somewhere, raised it, and with a "crack!", it landed squarely on her buttocks.
Thinking to myself, if I hadn't moved my butt so quickly, it would have been my butt that was covered in sores. I couldn't help but touch my butt with a pang of heartache.
Looking at the leather whip in the old woman's hand, he thought to himself, "A wise man doesn't fight a losing battle!"
"Auntie, as the saying goes, if we can use our words, we'll never use our hands!"
Speak like a human being!
Seeing this menacing display, and knowing he was dependent on others and had no choice but to submit, he immediately adopted a servile demeanor: "From now on, you're in charge. If you tell me to go east, I'll never go west."
The old woman rolled her eyes at her: "From now on, you must refer to yourself as 'this servant' in front of your master!"
She rolled her eyes inwardly, but put on a docile expression and repeatedly said, "This servant understands!"
She impatiently instructed the maid beside her, "Xiangye, tell her what a servant should do and how to serve her mistress well!"
"Yes!" Xiangye obediently replied.
As I was leaving, the old woman glared at me fiercely and said, "Don't even think about eating until you finish!"
He made a disdainful face at the old woman's bulky back.
"That's Granny Du. She's usually stern and a bit demanding, but she's a very kind person. However, she always keeps her word. If you don't finish your work, you really won't get any food!" Xiangye kindly reminded her.
"Thank you, my name is Okra, it's nice to meet you!" she said, extending her hand in a friendly gesture to shake hands with Xiangye.
Xiangye looked at her outstretched hand with a blank expression, not knowing what she was going to do: "This servant is Xiangye!"
I gave an awkward laugh and withdrew my hand: "I don't know what to do today?"
"Granny Du just asked you to go to the kitchen to work!"
She glanced at the sky and said, "It's about time I went. I'll be in the laundry room; you can come find me if you need anything!" Then she hurried away.
"Where's the kitchen?" I called out from behind.
Even now, I still feel lightheaded and somewhat disbelieving, but the old wooden houses, the quaint streets, and the people's attire all serve as a constant reminder of the fact that I've traveled through time.
Weakly, I sat down in front of the bronze mirror, looked at myself in the mirror, and couldn't help but sigh: "Thank goodness, it's my own face!"
My servants' quarters were a bamboo house, used to escape the summer heat and keep warm in the winter. I shared a room with Xiangye. However, the moment she stepped out of the house, she was bewildered. Looking at the five cobblestone paths that led to different places, she was troubled: "Which way should I go?"
"No, why should I listen to that Granny Du and take on any job?" With that, she turned and went back to her room.
"If I don't stay in the Prince's mansion, where should I go? What should I eat? These are all problems!" A person stood there asking and answering himself.
He quickly resigned himself to his fate: "A wise man doesn't fight a losing battle! Let's fill our stomachs first!"
"Sister Murong!" A woman dressed in red silk called out affectionately.
The woman was extremely beautiful, and every gesture she made exuded allure.
Looking around and seeing no one, he pointed to himself with a blank expression and asked, "Are you calling me?"
When the woman heard her question, she chuckled and said, "Is there another Murong Kui in the world?"
Upon hearing this, she waved her hands repeatedly and said, "My name is Qiu Kui, not Murong Kui as you're calling me!"
The woman looked unconvinced: "You used to be so aloof, I'll see how long you can keep up the act," she thought to herself.
She then looked down, her eyes filled with a pitiful expression: "Sister, are you blaming me for not pleading for you, so you're disowning me too!"
I was embarrassed by what she said, and feeling annoyed by her incessant chatter, I blurted out, "Are you sick in the head?!"
