Chapter Twenty: The Adorable Princess



As he approached step by step, I felt an invisible pressure, making it hard to breathe. Had he discovered something?

Just as he was wondering how to answer, Ye Lisheng arrived.

He shielded me behind him, a subconscious action that warmed my heart.

Perhaps out of fear or nervousness, I gripped his clothes tightly.

"I wonder what business the Imperial Preceptor has?"

"I saw that Miss Murong was bored here, so I came to keep her company and help her relax!"

Ye Lisheng sneered: "The Imperial Advisor is truly thoughtful. It's getting late, so please return to your residence as soon as possible!"

He smiled and tactfully left.

"Are you alright?" This was the first time I'd seen heartache in Ye Lisheng's eyes. Though it was fleeting, I still caught it.

Are you worried about me?

"What a joke! I am of noble birth, why would I worry about a mere maid like you!"

Even though he said that, I was still very happy, because some things can't be faked by the eyes.
