Ling Shuang dismissed all the palace maids and eunuchs, and even refused to let Ling Ran accompany her, walking alone under the long corridor.
Her eyes were red from crying, and she looked much more haggard.
"Sixth Brother, where should I look for you?" She cried as she walked, letting her tears ruin her makeup.
She didn't know how long she had walked, but when she looked up, she was stunned by what she saw.
"There's such a remote place in the Lanyi Palace."
The surroundings were desolate, overgrown with weeds, and a dilapidated house was covered with cobwebs. A musty smell filled the air.
Is anyone there?
She looked back at where she had come from and was momentarily lost.
"Is anyone there?" she called out, somewhat frightened.
Suddenly the door creaked open, and a plaque above the door slammed heavily to the ground with a crisp sound, kicking up a cloud of dust.
Startled, Ling Shuang fell to the ground with a thud.
"ah!"
My heart was pounding wildly; I was terrified.
Just as she was wondering what to do, the door suddenly opened, and a black, furry creature emerged, its tail wagging.
She looked and realized it was a black cat.
The cat seemed unafraid of her, swaggering up to her and rubbing against her leg.
Ling Shuang was immediately drawn to the adorable cat, and her sadness and grief were temporarily forgotten.
“Kitten, what are you doing here? Where is your home?” she asked.
"Meow!!!" The wind cat snuggled affectionately against her.
Looking at the house covered in cobwebs, Ling Shuang suddenly had the urge to go and take a look.
Clutching the cat tightly in her arms, she mustered her courage and went inside.
As soon as I reached the window, I was startled by a pair of bright red eyes staring straight at me.
"ah!!!"
Ling Shuang was so frightened that she fell to the ground with a thud, and the cat in her arms was also frightened and ran away in all directions.
Although Murong Kui didn't say anything, someone as clever as Wang Qiaochuan couldn't possibly not know what had happened.
"When I traveled to Cangling in my early years, I was fortunate enough to see a mirror called the Spirit Mirror!"
Murong Kui smiled and said, "I wonder if the Celestial Master has found the answer he seeks!"
Wang Qiaochuan smiled; his expression said it all.
Cangling has a national treasure, the Spirit Mirror, which is said to be able to see a person's past and present lives.
During the war, the King of Cangling entrusted the item to Murong Kui, asking her to keep it safe...
Murong Kui and Ye Lisheng went hunting, but got separated from him.
She waited alone in the dark cave for him to come find her.
Overwhelmed by fear, she cried as she tightly clutched the psychic mirror to her chest.
Suddenly, a burning sensation struck her, and she hurriedly threw the mirror to the ground.
Suddenly, something strange happened in the cave; a golden light shone so brightly that she couldn't open her eyes.
Although I was scared, I was also curious about what had happened.
After her eyes adjusted to the golden light, she slowly opened them.
Before him appeared a field of bright red spider lilies, and standing among them stood a man in purple robes.
She looked closely and was startled – wasn't that Ye Lisheng?
"Brother Yue!" a woman called out gently.
Murong Kui's mouth formed an "O" shape in surprise; the woman looked exactly like her.
"Yaqing, are you healed? Why are you out walking around?"
"Brother Yue, they say you moved the spider lilies from the River of Oblivion to the Underworld!"
He looked at the flowers and a sadness seemed to appear out of nowhere.
"These red spider lilies used to be pure white, beautiful and pristine. I don't know how they turned red. They must be heartbroken!"
Ya Qing's eyes were red and she looked as pitiful as a little rabbit.
"Brother Yue, it's all because of me. If you hadn't gone to the River of Oblivion, you wouldn't feel so guilty!"
"Silly girl, it's not your fault!"
She leaned on his shoulder, but felt that he lacked his former warmth and instead was icy cold.
For several days afterward, she saw September staring blankly at the field of spider lilies, or she simply couldn't see September at all.
Finally unable to contain his curiosity, he asked his personal guard, Qingfeng, "Where did Brother Yue go?"
"Your Highness, the monarch may have gone to the River of Oblivion!"
Jealousy spread endlessly in her heart: "What is it about that woman that makes Brother Yue so attached to her!"
He smiled and said, "I understand, you can go ahead and get back to work!"
The River of Oblivion, crossed countless times, has become eerie and terrifying, causing even the most vengeful souls to hesitate in its presence.
"Where does one go after death?"
He asked a woman in black wearing a Yaksha mask...
"Why are you still looking for her after you've hurt her!"
"This king..." He was momentarily speechless.
Do you feel guilty?
"Heh..." she sneered.
"You deceived her feelings and used her spiritual blood to save your lover!"
Her words struck a chord, and September felt a sudden tightness in her chest.
"I just want to know if she's doing well!"
She's gone!
"Where did they go?" A void seemed to fill my heart, and a fleeting look of fear crossed my eyes.
She glanced at the endless River of Oblivion: "Go and find the answer she seeks!"
Seeing his distraught state, she handed him a carved mirror.
"The answer you seek is inside!" With that, she vanished in a puff of smoke before him.
The sight reflected in the mirror made his eyes widen in anger.
Yaqing was overjoyed to see him return and ran to him.
"Brother Yue, you're back!"
To everyone's surprise, September shook off her hand with a look of disgust, staring at her as if she were a stranger.
"Brother Yue, what's wrong?"
"Stop pretending!" September directly exposed him.
She was completely confused: "Brother Yue, what are you saying? I don't understand!"
