She plucked celery leaves and hummed along to ABCs; she sliced meat and hummed along to Number Song.
Professor Deng was looking at the book when, despite the interference from the tape recorder, he could faintly hear Xia Baozhu's standard humming voice and thought his method was very good.
When Teacher Qian got off work, she opened the door and heard lively and lovely English nursery rhymes coming from the tape recorder.
He was worried about his mother, so he left work early today. He glanced around and saw his mother reading on the sofa and Xia cooking in the kitchen. They looked very harmonious.
But what's with this nursery rhyme? Did other children come over to the house?
"Shijie, why are you back so early today? What are you looking for?" Professor Deng asked, watching his son searching for something.
"Mom, are we having guests?" Teacher Qian asked his mother directly when he couldn't find her in the living room.
"No."
"Then why are you listening to nursery rhymes?"
"It was played for Xia Xia to hear."
Professor Deng told her about her outing with Xia Baozhu today. She discovered that Xia Baozhu had a great talent for languages and wanted to nurture it.
After listening to his mother's words, Teacher Qian understood that his mother was just too bored. Because of her leg injury, her mind was racing and she couldn't calm down.
On the other hand, Xia Xia is very much to her mother's liking. Her mother is willing to teach her because she values talent and likes her.
“I told people outside that Xia is a relative from our hometown who came to take care of me, but don’t let it slip.”
"Mom, you're so kind." Qian Shijie bent down and gave Professor Deng an exaggerated hug with his arms wide open.
"Alright, you're a father now, don't be so unserious." Professor Deng smiled and lightly patted his son's back.
