Sun Xingyan's wound was quite dangerous; it almost cut his kidney. Fortunately, he was wearing thick winter clothes, and he was brought to the hospital in time, preventing him from bleeding to death.
After Sun's mother saw off many people in the ward, Xia Baozhu and San Gou went in only after they saw that there was no one else inside.
"Baozhu, Sangou, you've arrived!"
Sun Xingyan had been looking forward to Xia Baozhu's arrival, so he specially sent someone to tell San Gou about his hospitalization.
As expected, Xia Baozhu came over as soon as she heard the news.
Xia Baozhu was a year older than Sun Xingyan, and she was quite unaccustomed to hearing him call her Baozhu.
It was even a little awkward.
Although he referred to himself in the same way in the letter.
Seeing her son's excited expression, Sun's mother immediately turned on the siren.
No way? Her son actually fell for Xia, the owner of the fried chicken shop.
She disagrees!
But does her son listen to her?
She asked herself the same question.
Sigh! If only he would listen to me.
"Brother Sun, how did you fall for this trick? What kind of bag are you carrying when you go out in the middle of the night?" San Gou rushed to Sun Xingyan's bedside and then called out "Auntie" to Sun's mother on the other side of the bed.
Xia Baozhu also called her "Auntie".
"Xia Xia and Feng, you two are so busy with work, yet you still took the time to visit Xingyan. We're sorry to have troubled you."
“We’re friends with Sun Xingyan, so it’s only right that we come to see him.” Xia Baozhu smiled, then asked Sun Xingyan, “Do you remember what the person who hurt you yesterday looked like?”
When Sun Xingyan saw the face he had been longing for, he didn't say a word, and he didn't listen to what San Gou and Xia Baozhu were saying. He just kept grinning like an idiot until San Gou nudged him and he finally came to his senses.
Seeing her son's silly look, Sun's mother knew she had guessed right.
Why would he choose a self-employed individual when there are so many female college students and teachers at the school?
Besides being good-looking and a nice person, there's nothing else to show for it.
She has low education, is from a rural area, is divorced, and most importantly, cannot have children.
Sun's mother covered her face in worry just thinking about it.
The first three are not fatal; the last one is the main one.
Knowing full well that she can't have children, he still insisted on dating someone like her. Isn't that just being bewitched by her?
There are quite a few like her son. Just from what she's heard, five or six unmarried young men have already asked someone to introduce them to potential partners.
Although none of them were successful.
People also say that she is too proud and arrogant and wants to find someone from a well-off family.
But those from well-off families don't even want her.
Sun's mother had initially treated these news items as casual gossip, never expecting that her family would win the lottery.
His own son also became one of them.
My son used to be so smart, girls would smile at him. Now, he doesn't want any of those pretty young girls, but he chose this kind of woman.
They've become stupid!
I'm so angry!
"I remember Baozhu, you can draw. How about I describe it to you and you draw it?"
San Gou hissed, his teeth aching at the familiar way Sun Xingyan addressed him. This shameless Sun Xingyan dared to use tricks to keep Sister Xia.
He knew that Sun Xingyan was proficient in all the arts, including music, chess, calligraphy, and painting; otherwise, how could he attract those young girls?
She can draw herself, but she still makes Sister Xia draw. What is that if not a scheme?
"Okay, wait a moment." Xia Baozhu took out a pen and notebook from her bag.
Sun's mother looked at her suspiciously. Could she really draw?
"San Gou, since the shop is busy, you should go back first." Sun Xingyan shamelessly urged San Gou to leave.
Ignoring the angry glares from the three dogs, Sun Xingyan turned to his mother and said,
"Mom, I want to eat yam and pork rib stew for lunch. Please stew a lot for me so I can recover faster."
Sun's mother knew her son was shameless, but she didn't expect him to be this shameless.
Xia hadn't even agreed to his request, yet he started kicking away everyone who was in his way in order to create a space for them to be alone.
Xia Baozhu also felt embarrassed. She held her pen, looked at her notebook, and thought about how to respond.
"Sister Xia, I'll head back to the shop now. Could you keep an eye on Brother Sun's medicine bottle for me?"
After San Gou finished speaking, he called out to Sun's mother and left together.
He was hopeless, but he could cheer on his good brother.
Before leaving, San Gou thoughtfully closed the door.
The bed next to him was empty; Sun Xingyan was the only person in the room, but now Xia Baozhu had joined them.
Xia Baozhu suddenly felt a tense atmosphere in the air.
She also wanted to leave.
Sun Xingyan coughed lightly, then groaned in pain as he pulled at his wound.
"Where are you hurt?" Xia Baozhu put the paper and pen on the bedside table and looked at the spot that Sun Xingyan was covering with the blanket.
"My back." Sun Xingyan gritted his teeth, enduring a wave of pain, and continued.
“Last night I was going to the new store to find you, but on the way I encountered a thug who tried to snatch my bag and I beat him up. I didn’t notice another one coming from behind and I got stabbed.”
Hearing that Sun Xingyan was attacked because he was looking for her, Xia Baozhu felt a mix of emotions. She continued to ask, "Did you come back tonight?"
Seeing Sun Xingyan's pale face due to excessive blood loss, Xia Baozhu finished asking her questions, picked up the thermos, poured a glass of water, and then sat down on the stool by the bed.
"I came back in the afternoon and saw you with the child, so I thought you got married," Sun Xingyan said unconsciously, scratching his head.
"Even if I get married, the child can't suddenly be that big, right?" Xia Baozhu said, somewhat amused and exasperated.
"I went to see Professor Deng and realized the mistake I made." Sun Xingyan was always considered a very smart person, but this time he was really stupid.
Xia Baozhu wanted to mock him again, but when she met Sun Xingyan's burning gaze, she didn't know what to say and lowered her head to look at her fingers.
