"Hey, didn't I tell you? It's best not to move the patient. Using a urinal is so much easier. Why didn't you listen?"
A sharp-eyed nurse saw Xia Baozhu pushing Sun Xingyan out of the ward and gave her a stern reprimand.
“I need to go to the toilet,” Sun Xingyan said directly.
Xia Baozhu lowered her head awkwardly.
"Alright then, go ahead." The nurse waved her hand, urging them to hurry up.
Xia Baozhu felt her face was extremely hot, and she pushed the wheelchair a few seconds faster.
When they first confirmed their gender identities, she had to accompany someone to the men's restroom on the very first day, which made her feel very uncomfortable.
Xia Baozhu put on a mask and escorted Sun Xingyan into the men's restroom.
She will remember that hair-raising feeling for the rest of her life.
She helped Sun Xingyan up and then quickly ran out.
Sun Xingyan smiled and unzipped his pants with one hand. Luckily, the hospital pants had an elastic waistband; otherwise, they would have fallen to the ground when he unbuckled them.
After using the restroom, Sun Xingyan slowly sat down in his wheelchair.
"Brother, did you come here by yourself? It must be inconvenient, let me push you out."
A kind man came in and, seeing Sun Xingyan's cautious demeanor, warmly pushed him out.
"Thank you." Xia Baozhu was waiting at the door for Sun Xingyan to call her. When she saw an older man pushing him out, she quickly thanked him.
"Haha, you two just got married, right? It's really difficult for her to go into the men's restroom."
"Yes, I just got married. Thank you, brother."
After Sun Xingyan finished speaking, he glanced at Xia Baozhu. Seeing that she didn't refute him, he felt as happy as if he had eaten eight hundred pounds of Tang Monk's flesh.
What could Xia Baozhu say? She didn't need to explain these things to strangers, especially since this was right next to the men's restroom. She just wanted to leave as soon as possible.
Back in the ward, Xia Baozhu put the IV drip back in place and then placed Sun Xingyan on the bed.
"Baozhu, I need to trouble you with one more thing. I haven't washed my hands yet," Sun Xingyan said shamelessly.
Xia Baozhu then realized how much trouble it was to take care of a patient.
"Wait a minute."
She pushed the wheelchair aside, fetched a basin of cold water, poured in hot water, tested the temperature, and then let Sun Xingyan wash his hands.
"Thank you, Baozhu. You have such a good personality. If it were my mom, she would have scolded me long ago."
"I do have a pretty good personality," Xia Baozhu thought so too.
Sun Xingyan was a patient, so she didn't hold it against him for anything that was inconvenient for him.
After finishing the portrait, Sun Xingyan took it over and made a few changes.
"His eyes are triangular, single-lidded, and somewhat long, with an unfriendly look. He's about 168 cm tall, skinny like a monkey, with rather long arms, and looks like a habitual thief."
"This one has bull-like eyes, thick double eyelids, fleshy face, a wider jaw, a slightly upturned nose, protruding ears, and thin ears."
These two dared to snatch his bag without taking any precautions; they're really bold.
Do you think that once they run away, you'll never find them again?
Xia Baozhu redrawn four copies based on the revised drawing by Sun Xingyan.
"I'll go back and have someone help me look for it." She kept the first sketch and put the rest away.
"Your hand is bleeding." Xia Baozhu and Sun Xingyan were both busy with their painting and forgot about the IV drip until fresh blood flowed back from the IV line.
Xia Baozhu quickly ran out and called the nurse over.
"How can you, as a family member, take care of the patient?" the nurse scolded Xia Baozhu while changing the medicine bottle.
“She went out to buy me something.” Sun Xingyan was annoyed with the nurse and said irritably, “I was asleep just now and didn’t notice.”
The nurse was speechless for a moment, then silently took the empty medicine bottle and left.
"She's so troublesome," Sun Xingyan complained after the nurses left.
Xia Baozhu spent three hours taking care of the patient before leaving when Sun Xingyan's mother came to deliver lunch.
"Baozhu, bring me a cup of orange pudding this afternoon."
As Xia Baozhu was about to leave the room, Sun Xingyan, reluctant to part, hurriedly said goodbye.
Xia Baozhu turned around and smiled helplessly: "Okay."
She politely said goodbye to her mother again before leaving.
"Mom, do you see that? That's your future daughter-in-law. She's already agreed to be my girlfriend."
Sun Xingyan withdrew his gaze, and before his mother could ask, he said smugly.
"What if I say I disagree?" Sun's mother said with a stern face.
“Then I’ll have no choice but to become a live-in son-in-law,” Sun Xingyan said casually, not taking his mother’s disapproval to heart at all.
"You unfilial son, I'll beat you to death right now!" Mother Sun slapped Sun Xingyan's head hard several times.
"Alright, Mom, my wound still hurts. Even if I become a live-in son-in-law, I will still take care of you and Dad as I should."
Sun Xingyan continued to rub salt into his mother's wounds. He thought it was better to end the pain quickly than to let his mother know his determination and stop them from having any other ideas.
Which mother would say that her son doesn't want his parents to be happy because of his future daughter-in-law?
"I can't control you, go talk to your dad." Sun's mother stormed off, but then, remembering that her son was having trouble using the restroom and was still on an IV drip, she stormed back downstairs.
A son can ignore his mother, but a mother can't ignore her son.
"Mom, when Baozhu comes, you must smile. Don't look sullen, or people will think our family is ill-mannered."
Sun Xingyan's sharp tongue was always indiscriminate, which made his mother so angry that she almost slapped him.
Sun Xingyan didn't care whether his mother was angry or not. He figured she would be less angry now than later.
He was doing it for his mother's own good. Since he couldn't change her, he had to change his own mindset.
Change is a painful process.
