Chapter 134 Getting Along

“I went with Song Yaoyang’s convoy,” Xia Baozhu replied.

"I was taking photos in the provincial capital at the time. After it was over, I was stranded in a hotel by the rain. Later, I heard that Jiangdong was flooded and he went to deliver supplies, so I went with him."

"Oh." Sun Xingyan's tone was somewhat low, unable to suppress the jealousy in his heart, but he still wore an indifferent expression on his face.

"Isn't it dangerous?"

He stared at the scars on Xia Baozhu's hands, feeling a mix of emotions, as if he had swallowed a heavy weight.

"It's alright, just be careful, I can swim." Xia Baozhu bit her lip and smiled, feeling inexplicably happy to see Sun Xingyan's disappointment.

She didn't think she was petty; in fact, she planned to take some time to let Sun Xingyan see those photos by chance.

The ward fell silent for a moment.

"Baozhu, did you bring your magazine?" Sun Xingyan suddenly asked.

"No, I didn't go home. I'll bring it tomorrow."

Xia Baozhu withdrew her hand: "It's getting late, I have to go back."

"Let's stay a little longer." Sun Xingyan didn't want Xia Baozhu to go back so soon; he hadn't seen enough of her yet.

"Aren't you afraid I'll get robbed if it gets too late?"

"Alright then, I'd like to have red bean porridge tomorrow morning, plus two chicken rolls." Sun Xingyan's ability to give orders was a major characteristic.

He gave Xia Baozhu a small task so that she would think about him more.

"Okay, I'll bring it to you tomorrow."

Sun Xingzhi saw Xia Baozhu's departing figure and walked in.

"Why are you unhappy?"

"Brother, do you know about Baozhu going to the disaster area?"

"Yes, I know. It was even published in the newspaper, and the city even awarded her an award."

"Bring me the newspaper tomorrow. Brother, do you know how long she's been gone?"

"How long ago was that newspaper? Where can I still find it? I remember it was more than a month ago."

"More than a month!" Sun Xingyan felt suffocated upon hearing such a long time.

He dared not think any further; it made him feel terrible.

"What's wrong? She's perfectly fine." Sun Xingzhi saw the sad expression on his younger brother's face and assumed he was upset about his girlfriend.

"Hmm." Sun Xingyan stared blankly at the ceiling, his heart filled with surging jealousy, a torrent of emotions churning within him.

The next day, Xia Baozhu packed a bag of magazines, took a lunchbox, and went to the hospital.

"Baozhu, you're here!" As soon as Sun Xingyan saw Xia Baozhu coming over, most of his unhappiness from last night disappeared.

Sun's mother took over her eldest son's job and was peeling eggs for her second son when she saw Xia Baozhu come in and greeted her warmly.

"Xia, I'm sorry to trouble you to make this trip again."

"Hello, Auntie." Xia Baozhu smiled politely.

"Mom, you've been working hard all morning, go home first," Sun Xingyan said softly to his mother.

Sun's mother, who had just arrived, paused for a moment, then smiled at Xia Baozhu: "Xia, I have to go back now. Could you keep an eye on Xingyan for me?"

After saying that, she got up and left.

Having someone help take care of her disobedient, ungrateful son saves her the trouble of running back and forth; it's such a good thing, she's not angry at all.

"Xia, if he doesn't listen, just beat him up!" Sun's mother walked to the door, turned around and smiled brightly at Xia Baozhu.

"Okay, Auntie," Xia Baozhu replied with a smile.

"My mom and my brother are alike, sharp-tongued but kind-hearted, just ignore her."

After finishing his meal, Sun Xingyan looked at the magazine Xia Baozhu had brought and occasionally exclaimed in amazement.

"Baozhu, you look better in black than in white, you look like you're wearing black..."

Sun Xingyan realized what he had said. He looked up at Xia Baozhu and, seeing her expressionless face, carefully chose a different word.

"Like a black swan, noble, elegant, and aloof, so beautiful."

"What about the white one? Like a white swan?"

"No, she's as white as a celestial maiden descended to earth, pure and elegant, so beautiful!"

Xia Baozhu hummed in agreement, acknowledging that he was right.

Sun Xingyan chuckled twice.

Suddenly he realized that everyone could see the magazine, and since Baozhu was so beautiful, wouldn't that mean even more people would like her?

Thinking of this, Sun Xingyan's relaxed expression turned serious again.

He suddenly remembered the letter he had written.

In the letter, he boasted to Xia Baozhu about how popular he was among women.

What did Baozhu think after seeing this?

He's such a pig-brain!

"Baozhu, you've read the letters I wrote to you before, right?"

"I saw it."

What are your thoughts?

Xia Baozhu thought for a moment and said, "The handwriting is quite beautiful."

Sun Xingyan stopped talking and looked through the flood relief article written by Xia Baozhu.

He had been away for ten months and knew very little about her.

She has done a lot and grown a lot, like a flower slowly blooming, allowing everyone to see her beauty.

She was beautiful enough as she was; the first time he saw her, he thought she was the most beautiful person he had ever seen.

Her beauty alone was not enough; her intelligence, resilience, and stubbornness also made him unable to extricate himself.

He was very glad that Xia Baozhu wasn't the kind of person who would do anything casually, otherwise he would have been too heartbroken.

All these elements combined make Xia Baozhu the most perfect in his heart, and the other half he longed for most.

Sun Xingyan was hospitalized for seven days. The doctor had originally told him to be discharged on the fifth day, but he insisted on staying for two more days, citing concerns about his back.

"Doctor, is my back okay?" Sun Xingyan asked the attending physician again as Xia Baozhu was arranging his discharge.

"No problem, just don't lift heavy things when you get back, and you'll be fine after resting."

The doctor, being a man himself, understood how much men valued their lower backs, and he smiled and patted Sun Xingyan's arm.
