Chapter 147 Shy Expression

Xia Baozhu walked over, like a figure stepping out of a painting, stepping into the vast world of mortals.

Sun Xingyan's heart pounded like a drum, and he felt as if he could hear nothing. He stared blankly at his lover, a lover he couldn't describe in words.

Wearing too little clothing, Xia Baozhu immediately felt the power of the cold wind as soon as she stepped outside, and couldn't help but sneeze, startling the person who was staring at her in a daze.

"Quickly put on your coat!" Sun Xingyan snapped out of his daze and quickly unfolded Xia Baozhu's coat to wrap her up.

"Have some water." Sun Xingyan opened the thermos, which contained hot ginger water.

Bringing ginger water was a method Sun Xingyan came up with during the meal.

When he was a child, he had a cold, and his mother would give him a cup of hot ginger water to make him sweat.

Ma Zhaoshi gazed at the sky, rubbing his eyes. This scene was truly enviable, and he felt a little jealous.

Sun Xingyan was a brother he was destined to be with for life.

Lu Qianqian said excitedly, "Sister Xia looks so beautiful in this outfit! It would be great if I could take a picture of it. By the way, Brother Ma, is your camera in the car?"

"I didn't bring it."

Ma Zhaoshi lied. Even if she's beautiful, she's not his wife. Why would he take a picture of her? Why would he look at his brother's wife's photo every day? What if he discovers something's wrong?

"Baozhu, if you get too cold outside, let's not film anymore."

Sun Xingyan put away the thermos, turned up Xia Baozhu's collar, and carefully wrapped a scarf around her neck.

My familiar lover is back, but because she's wearing a lot of makeup, her scent has a tacky, perfumed fragrance.

"Are you still cold?" Sun Xingyan held Xia Baozhu's hand, which was icy cold, making his heart ache.

"I tried it this time, just for the novelty. I won't film these kinds of grueling scenes again."

"Thankfully, I'm not that fragile." Xia Baozhu pulled her hand away. "Let's find a place to look at the script and see what kind of play it is?"

Xia Baozhu waited until almost 11 p.m. before it was her turn to film, by which time she was a little sleepy.

Lu Qianqian was picked up by Chen Lu. She didn't want to leave and wanted to watch Xia Baozhu film.

Chen Lu brought her mother out, and only then did Lu Qianqian pout and get into the car.

Ma Zhaoshi called home and said he wouldn't be going back tonight; he planned to stay at a hotel with Sun Xingyan.

"Shooting late into the night is bad for your health." Sun Xingyan mentally noted down another drawback of filming.

The big screen shows a glamorous facade, but behind the scenes, people endure hardship and toil.

Xia Baozhu heard the director calling someone to call her, so she went to the filming location.

Several sets of lights were placed near a garden path and an artificial hill, illuminating the surrounding environment.

“You’ve read the script, and your play is very simple. Carry a lantern and slowly walk along this path, walk behind the artificial hill, turn around and smile, then walk out.”

Xia Baozhu took off her coat and scarf, and the cold instantly hit her whole body. She took the white lantern handed to her by a staff member next to her and stood on the path.

Because it was so cold, she gained an even more pitiful and endearing quality.

Xia Baozhu walked the path twice; she took a picture of her back on the path and a picture of her turning around and smiling at the rockery.

"Very good, keep this up and try to get it right in one take."

The outdoor scenes were filmed in one take; next up were the indoor scenes.

Xia Baozhu stood in front of the window, smiled shyly at the camera, and then slowly closed the window.

"No, this smile is too stiff and unnatural." The director was very dissatisfied. Such a beautiful scene, such a simple scene, had to be reshot three times because Xia Baozhu couldn't express shyness.

Xia Baozhu felt like she was about to burst out laughing, but she still hadn't met the director's requirements.

Sun Xingyan was outside, far from the window, and couldn't see Xia Baozhu's face clearly.

"Isn't the play supposed to be simple? Why isn't it over yet?"

He was getting a little impatient. They'd been filming for almost ten minutes already. What difference was there between being indoors with the windows open and being outdoors? Baozhu must be freezing.

"Don't worry, it's already been filmed. Let your sister-in-law finish filming all the scenes."

Ma Zhaoshi tucked his hands into his sleeves to warm them; at this moment, he no longer cared about being dashing or elegant.

If he was so cold, how cold must Xia Baozhu, who was only dressed in thin clothes, have been?

"Teacher Zhang, could you teach her how to smile again?" The director paused filming and asked the action director to teach Xia Baozhu how to smile.

Teacher Zhang was a lean, middle-aged man. Xia Baozhu had already been taught by him once.

However, Xia Baozhu found it too incongruous to see a tough man making a coy expression, so she just suppressed her laughter and didn't remember anything she was trying to learn.

Teacher Zhang also thought that shyness was something women were born with, so she only taught her once and that was it.

Unexpectedly, Xia Baozhu laughed as if she were wearing a mask.

"Look closely, first of all, it's the eyes. Think about it, when your lover confesses their love to you, do you look them straight in the eye?"

"Avoid eye contact, move your eyes slightly, and then lower your gaze slightly. Look into my eyes."

As soon as Xia Baozhu looked over, Teacher Zhang's bright eyes sparkled.

His eyes seemed to hold endless tenderness as they glanced at each other, before he gently lowered them.

He avoided direct eye contact with Xia Baozhu, his expression seemingly trying to evoke her pity.

Xia Baozhu studied very hard this time; she didn't want to continue to suffer in the cold.

She ignored Mr. Zhang's unnaturally masculine face, focused on what he was teaching, and tried her best to immerse herself in the lesson.

"Okay, next is the corners of the mouth. At this point, the corners of the mouth should be slightly raised, and it's best to also make a pursing or gently biting motion."

Teacher Zhang continued to teach patiently, demonstrating as she spoke.

His lips curled up slightly, a faint smile playing on his lips, before he gently pursed them.

That posture was just right, not exactly charming.

Just like Dong Shi imitating Xi Shi, no matter how well you learn, it's useless without the basic hardware.

"Finally, she lowered her head, her face still flushed with shame, using the closing of the window to conceal her true feelings."

As Teacher Zhang spoke, she gracefully made a gesture of closing a window, her every move exuding charm.

Seeing this, Xia Baozhu put aside her prejudice and felt more admiration for Teacher Zhang.

Her usual demeanor is too upright and dignified, which is inappropriate here.

Compared to what Teacher Zhang taught, it lacked the subtlety and allure of the other styles.

After giving the instruction, Teacher Zhang brought out a mirror: "Make expressions in front of you in the mirror."

It wasn't until Xia Baozhu's face stiffened with a forced smile that she finally received Teacher Zhang's nod of approval.

When the director shouted "Cheers!", Xia Baozhu finally breathed a sigh of relief and rubbed her face vigorously with her icy hands.

Filming is so difficult, especially for a mere decorative role with such high requirements.

It seems that acting is not suitable for her; she has no talent for it unless she learns from a professional teacher step by step.

But that would take too much time, and mainly because she didn't plan to take that route.

Sun Xingyan practically ran over and wrapped Xia Baozhu in his coat.
