Chapter 165 No Need to Wash Dishes

Sunlight, like golden threads, gently filtered through the closed window frames, illuminating every corner of the room.

Xia Baozhu closed her eyes slightly, her thick eyelashes like gently fluttering butterfly wings, casting a faint shadow on her fair face.

Her face was held tenderly yet somewhat roughly in Sun Xingyan's hands, their burning breaths mingling together.

The pleasant, refreshing scent of fresh bamboo filled her surroundings, drawing her in as well.

"Dinner's ready." A knock came from Sun's mother at the door.

The soft sound was like a thunderclap, instantly waking Xia Baozhu from her dream.

She quickly pushed Sun Xingyan away, afraid that Sun's mother would open the door and witness this scene.

Caught off guard, Sun Xingyan was shoved hard by the corner of the chair behind him, causing him to hiss in pain.

Xia Baozhu's eyes held a hint of embarrassment and apology as she gave Sun Xingyan an awkward smile.

Her fair skin now resembled a delicately pink peach blossom, making one want to take a bite.

Sun Xingyan squeezed Xia Baozhu's hand tightly, his eyes still brimming with lingering lust, and his aggressive male hormones continued to surge.

He calmed his breathing, then turned to the door and replied, "Okay, Mom, I'll be there in a bit."

"Hurry up, the food will get cold soon," Sun's mother said before leaving.

"Wife, look, isn't my back bruised?" Sun Xingyan turned his back to Xia Baozhu.

Xia Baozhu was a little nervous and didn't pay attention to her strength, pushing a little too hard.

Upon hearing Sun Xingyan's request, she carefully lifted his shirt and saw that there was indeed a red patch under his broad shoulder blades.

The red, swollen marks stood out starkly against his firm, fair skin.

"How are you?" Sun Xingyan felt a chill down his back.

"It's red, does it hurt?" Xia Baozhu asked, feeling guilty and distressed, as she put the clothes back down.

"It hurts, it burns like fire," Sun Xingyan exclaimed dramatically.

"Excuse me, I'll go ask if they have any medicine for sprains and bruises."

After Xia Baozhu finished speaking, she put the guitar on the desk and stood up.

"No need, wife, just give me a massage." Sun Xingyan took Xia Baozhu's hand and placed it on his back.

Xia Baozhu gently massaged his hand: "How is it?"

"It still hurts a little."

With a pitiful tone, he lay on the table, turned his head, and stared intently at Xia Baozhu as she gently massaged his back.

He narrowed his eyes slightly, and a subtle, mischievous smile appeared on his lips.

His wicked grin was mixed with slight twitches caused by pain, making his expression amusing.

Xia Baozhu glanced at him, feeling both amused and sorry for him. She knew she had to stay calm and collected when she took action in the future.

When the two went out, the family sat down at the dining table and waited for them.

"Baozhu, this dish is delicious, you should eat this." Sun Xingyan placed the dish on the plate in front of Xia Baozhu.

"Wife, drink some more soup."

"Wife, eat meat."

Sun Xingyan's lively and enthusiastic voice filled the dining table.

Upon hearing this, Sun's mother and Professor Sun felt both heartbroken and aching.

This son, sigh! He's just someone else's son.

"Wife, you should eat more too." Under his wife's angry glare, Sun Xingzhi also picked up a piece of pork rib and put it in her bowl.

"Lele, you should eat more vegetables too, don't just eat meat all the time." Sun Xingzhi put another piece of vegetables on his son's plate.

After dinner, Xia Baozhu wanted to help wash the dishes, but Sun Xingyan stopped her.

"Honey, let Lele do simple chores like washing dishes. He should learn to do some housework too, otherwise he won't know anything and it will be hard for him to find a wife in the future."

One sentence offended an entire family.

Professor Deng went out to digest his food without saying a word.

Sun Xingzhi glared at his unreliable younger brother, but out of respect for his new sister-in-law, he refrained from losing his temper.

Lele looked at the large basin of dishes and refused to do it. He pouted and said, "Second Uncle, Mom said I should do my own things."

"Lele, do you still want the transforming toy?" Sun Xingyan asked, raising an eyebrow.

"Second Uncle, are you going to give me a transforming toy?" Lele's eyes lit up when she heard about toys.

"It depends on your performance."

After Sun Xingyan finished speaking, he pulled Xia Baozhu outside and said, "Come on, wife, I'll take you for a walk."

Just before closing the door, Sun Xingyan said to his mother, "Mom, count how many bowls Lele washed today. The more bowls he washes, the bigger the toy will be."

Upon hearing this, Lele immediately ran to the kitchen, stood on a stool by the sink, and patted the edge of the sink, saying, "Mommy, Grandma, quick, bring the basin over, I want to wash the dishes! I want to wash them all!"

Sun Xingzhi sighed when he saw his son get completely disoriented after being coaxed by his uncle.

Fortunately, Xingyan won't be living with them anymore, otherwise I'm really afraid he'll raise his son astray.

“Washing dishes isn’t tiring, there’s no need to avoid doing housework,” Xia Baozhu said after coming downstairs.

"There's a whole family here, why does it have to be you who does it? Honey, you don't need to worry about leaving a bad impression on our family."

Sun Xingyan pulled Xia Baozhu's left hand and put it into his pocket to keep it warm.

"We haven't had a wedding yet, so you're a guest in our home. How can we make a guest do chores?"

Xia Baozhu opened her mouth, unsure how to refute, but finally nodded and said, "Okay."

Xia Baozhu thought washing dishes was no big deal, but Sun Xingyan felt sorry for her having to do chores at her in-laws' house to prove herself as soon as they got their marriage certificate.

What's so great about that? Does getting married mean you have to rush to serve a whole family?

Of course, Sun Xingyan wasn't unaware of how to care for his mother; it's just that he felt his wife was carefree and relaxed before marriage, and she shouldn't suffer any grievances after marrying him.

We can all do housework together from now on, but not now.

(Upon hearing her son's true feelings, the mother jumped up and cursed: I deserve to serve your whole family! You unfilial son!)

...

This is Xia Baozhu's second New Year here.

The last time she spent the Lunar New Year alone, she felt very lonely and desolate.

Although she was still somewhat estranged from the Sun family this time, she completely relaxed thanks to Sun Xingyan's various forms of protection.

But it's not feasible to do nothing at all, as Sun Xingyan suggested.

Xia Baozhu went to the kitchen, where she planned to make two simple desserts: pumpkin glutinous rice with white fungus and sugar-coated yam.
