Chapter 176 Wedding Banquet

Sun Xingyan and his friends set off firecrackers and brought Xia Baozhu to their new house, where the living room was packed with relatives and friends.

When close relatives and friends attend a wedding, they usually visit the home first to offer their blessings, and then wait until the banquet begins before arriving at the wedding venue.

While the onlookers were watching, Xia Baozhu served tea to her parents-in-law and then went to her bedroom to rest.

Sun Xingyan was entertaining guests outside.

This was Xia Baozhu's first real marriage. She did whatever others said, and felt a little bored. It was lively outside, but it was very quiet inside.

Liu Runan rolled around on the wedding bed, excited about the new environment, even happier than the bride.

Soon, Sun Xingyan brought in a plate of dumplings and fed them to her in front of everyone.

What kind of custom is this? Xia Baozhu looked at Xia Laidi in confusion. Xia Laidi shook her head. Her wedding was even simpler. It was so lively outside that she forgot about it and was so hungry that she didn't eat until evening.

A group of Sun Xingyan's relatives went up to the second floor to visit and chat.

"Xingyan must have made a lot of money, turning his house into a grand hotel."

"He's been smart since he was a child and he's good at making money, so why does he have to marry a divorced woman?"

"She's beautiful, isn't she? You saw it yourself. The bride was stunned when she came in. It's the first time I've ever seen someone so beautiful, just like in a painting."

“She was originally a painting. We have all the magazine photos of her. They are very beautiful. My daughter likes her. When buying clothes, she only buys the ones she wears and refuses to buy anything else.”

"Doesn't she own a shop? And she's even doing a magazine shoot? Can Xingyan really leave her out there feeling safe?"

"I only married her because I didn't trust her. I heard her shop is doing well; even young people save up to buy things there."

"What are you saying? You've definitely never tried the food at Xia's shop. When you get back, buy some and try it. My daughter loves the milk tea from her shop; she won't drink the milk tea I make at home."

"Your daughter must have spent a lot of money. Milk is so expensive! The price of milk has gone up; it's 20 yuan now. Prices are rising really fast."

Upon hearing this, the woman with a daughter gave a soft snort and went somewhere else.

There's more discussion about the new house Sun Xingyan used for his wedding than about him marrying a divorced woman; after all, what everyone already knew was already known.

But the house was newly built, big and beautiful, and many people ran up and down the stairs to visit it. Some eager learners even took out paper and pen to draw it and write it down.

Xia Baozhu looked at the person who brought in paper and pen with some confusion. What kind of custom was this?

The other party explained that they liked the interior design of their house and wanted to use that design for their future renovations.

Xia Baozhu smiled and told them to feel free to look around, while she got up to stretch her legs.

Sun Xingyan's friends went to help out at the restaurant, so they wouldn't be scrambling around when the guests arrived.

Around ten o'clock, Xia Baozhu and Sun Xingyan went to the restaurant. Their whole family was to greet guests at the entrance and entertain them inside.

"Wife, are you tired?" Sun Xingyan took a water glass and gave Xia Baozhu a drink.

"I'm not tired, you're more tired than me. I've been sitting all day." Xia Baozhu was telling the truth. Sun Xingyan probably didn't sleep well last night because of his excitement, and with today's busy schedule, his face was a little pale.

After a busy midday, there was still the wedding night pranks. Xia Baozhu looked puzzled and asked, "Why do we have to prank the wedding night?"

“It’s a custom that’s been around since ancient times,” Sun Xingyan said with a smile.

Xia Baozhu said noncommittally, "Tell your friend not to go too far."

"Don't worry, they're very civilized. At most, they'll let us eat an apple and drink a toast together." Sun Xingyan had participated in the wedding night pranks a few times, and nothing too outrageous had ever happened. At most, they would try to get the bride and groom to kiss.

The two chatted and entertained their guests. When Song Yaoyang arrived, he saw the two chatting happily. He sighed inwardly and walked towards them with a smile.

"Baozhu, congratulations on your marriage."

Sun Xingyan looked at Song Yaoyang, who was better looking and taller than him, and felt very uncomfortable when he heard the other meaning in Song Yaoyang's words.

This man wasn't very friendly to Baozhu before. He had a spoiled, arrogant attitude and no patience. He had never been successful in his investment and cooperation negotiations.

Fortunately, they failed, which means even God wasn't on their side.

Sun Xingyan grinned and said with a smile, "Thank you, Mr. Song, for taking time out of your busy schedule to attend our wedding banquet."

Wishing you both a long and happy marriage and many children.

"Thank you." Xia Baozhu and Sun Xingyan expressed their gratitude together. Niu Yiming came from behind and invited Song Yaoyang into the restaurant.

"Comrade Song's temper is better than before," Sun Xingyan commented.

"It seems so." Xia Baozhu didn't tell Sun Xingyan that Song Yaoyang had pursued her, for fear of making him angry.

Despite his seemingly carefree and roguish appearance, Sun Xingyan is actually quite cunning in some ways.

Sun Xingyan met Xia Baozhu's friends in the provincial capital. The two were of average appearance, and one of them was particularly unattractive. After seeing them, he felt reassured.

The particularly unattractive man gave a very large red envelope, which surprised Sun Xingyan when he later looked at the account book.

His first thought was that it was like a toad lusting after a swan; anyone who gave him a big red envelope was after his wife.

As expected, Sun Xingyan was carried back from the banquet.

There were so many guests that even some strangers gave gifts. Sun Xingyan and Xia Baozhu ran up and down the stairs to toast the guests.

Although he brought a group of friends, he got dizzy after drinking half of it. The drinks he drank after that were all diluted with water. After finishing the toasts, he just lay down.

Fortunately, there were several doctors among the guests. After taking a look, they said that he had drunk too much and that he just needed to take some hangover medicine.

Forget about the wedding night festivities, Sun Xingyan slept until the afternoon of the next day, missing out on the wedding night altogether, which became a major regret in his life.

However, their marriage has always been a topic of conversation among the people of Taicheng.

For the couple, there was only one thought: they were finally done with all the work.

Xia Baozhu slept in the new house for two days and then left it empty for the time being. She felt that since the house had just been renovated, it would be best to ventilate it for six months before moving back in.

So they still have to stay in Baozhu's courtyard.

Sun Xingyan didn't care. They were married anyway, so it didn't matter where they lived. His wife could live wherever she liked.

Xia Baozhu's neighbors were very surprised. How could the two of them have moved back in after just getting married?

“The new house needs to be ventilated to get rid of the smell,” Xia Baozhu explained.

The neighbors pretended to understand, but behind his back they wondered if Sun Xingyan's house was rented and taken back after his marriage.

Regardless of what others thought, Xia Baozhu focused on her work after the wedding.

Sun Xingyan and she went to the provincial capital to take clothing photos. At the same time, they bought two storefronts and a courtyard house, which Chen Wenbin was in charge of decorating. The courtyard house would be used as staff dormitory in the future.
