Chapter 37 Buying Gifts

"How about this coat?" Lin Shiwan pointed to a fuchsia Peter Pan collar coat.

"I think you look better in this. Why don't you try it on?" Leng Minghui asked the sales clerk to bring it over and handed the clothes to Lin Shiwan.

Xia Zhaodi's current temperament is cold and arrogant, and fuchsia color does not suit her.

Lin Shiwan looked charming and adorable in the outfit, and Leng Minghui immediately paid for it and carried it for her.

Buying herself the first piece of clothing made Lin Shiwan feel much better.

"How about we buy her a cotton-padded coat? It's so cold, she'll be warm to wear to and from get off work," Lin Shiwan said as she walked to the cotton-padded coat section and looked at the rows of bulky coats.

“This purple one is very bright, and it’s embroidered with peonies. She’ll definitely like it,” Lin Shiwan said, holding up a long, traditional Chinese-style cotton-padded coat that was popular with middle-aged and elderly women in later generations.

"Okay, let's go with this one. It's thick and long, almost down to the calves. Zhao Di will definitely like it."

Seeing Leng Minghui buy the cotton-padded coat, Lin Shiwan couldn't help but secretly smile.

Next, Leng Minghui bought a pair of black boots.

Originally, Lin Shiwan recommended bright red 7cm high heels.

Leng Minghui felt that wearing that outfit was too eye-catching and would draw attention to Xia Baozhu, so he changed into a pair of mid-heeled black boots.

Those fiery red high heels were given to Lin Shiwan.

“Your feet are so white, this color will definitely look good on you.” Leng Minghui said seriously, which earned him a playful glare from Lin Shiwan.

"Let's go look at watches." Leng Minghui went to the watch counter and saw a rectangular women's watch. He thought it was exquisite and beautiful, so he asked the sales clerk to take it out for him to see.

"Your wife would definitely look good in it." The saleswoman saw that the two were well-dressed and looked wealthy and had a good relationship. She was very envious and spoke to them in a friendly manner.

Leng Minghui and Lin Shiwan exchanged a glance and smiled, neither of them correcting the saleswoman's mistake.

In the end, Leng Minghui bought two watches. He gave one to Lin Shiwan and bought another one for Xia Baozhu that was 300 yuan cheaper.

Sun Xingyan followed behind Leng Minghui and the other man, his fists clenching and unclenching.

He saw the black sedan and liked it, and even wanted to ask the owner how much it cost.

As a result, Leng Minghui and a beautiful woman got out of the car. The two were very close, chatting and laughing, just like a loving couple.

Sun Xingyan followed behind them, watching them buy one item after another.

Leng Minghui bought two of each item, even the watches. It was obvious who he would give the other one to, and who he would give the other one to.

Holy crap! I thought Leng Minghui was alright at first, but I never expected him to be so shameless. He thinks that having money means he can do whatever he wants, living a carefree and ostentatious life with his mistress.

And this woman, does she know that Leng Minghui has a wife?

If you knew, you'd think they were a perfect match, like a turtle eyeing a green bean.

What a waste of such a pretty face.

Sun Xingyan, lacking the right to catch his wife in the act, stormed off to the fried chicken shop in a huff.

"Xia Zhaodi, do you usually contact your man? Do you know where he works?"

"What's wrong with us not contacting each other?" Xia Baozhu wiped the grease off the counter.

How is your relationship?

"Not very good?" Xia Baozhu said casually.

San Gou listened intently, and when he heard Xia Baozhu say that her relationship with her man was not good, a ripple of joy welled up in his heart.

"Brother Sun, Sister Xia's husband came over at noon, along with his sister. They caused a scene at the store, saying that other stores had cheaper items," San Gou quickly interjected.

"Why didn't you stop him? I've never seen you this useless before."

"I was making fried chicken and watching the heat. The range hood was too loud. Xiao Hao told me that; he has good hearing," San Gou said shamefully.

"Alright, Xia Zhaodi, I have something to tell you, so be prepared."

Sun Xingyan lowered his voice, looked around, and waved to San Gou, telling him to stay away.

Xia Baozhu put the rag into the basin of hot water, looked up at Sun Xingyan who looked embarrassed, and instantly understood.

"What's wrong? You didn't see Leng Minghui with someone else, did you?"

"You know?" Sun Xingyan stared wide-eyed at Xia Baozhu, who remained expressionless.

"You could have guessed it. Have you forgotten that I published an article about marital relationships in 'Zhiyin' magazine?"

"You don't care?"

Why should I care about someone who is insignificant?

"Sister Xia, you're my sister, you're awesome!" Sun Xingyan gave a thumbs up speechlessly.

"I just saw your man take a pretty girl to the department store and buy clothes, shoes, and a watch. Go back and check if you have any of those things; that girl has them all."

Xia Baozhu was overjoyed to hear that she could get something for free: "Leng Minghui is so generous this time, he even knows to buy me things. Not bad, he's improved."

“He buys even better things for others, and they’re all things that woman likes.” Sun Xingyan emphasized.

"Why think so much? As long as he buys it for me, I've made a profit." Before the divorce, I'll save as much as I can.

"Sister Xia, you really have the magnanimity of a prime minister." Sun Xingyan didn't know whether to call her silly or admire her nonchalant attitude.

"It's alright."

Xia Baozhu smiled. If divorces in this era allowed for the division of the husband's assets, that would be even better. No matter how much Leng Minghui earned, he was just working for her.

Unfortunately, this is just wishful thinking. It's not easy for a woman to get a divorce, let alone get her share of the family property.

She heard Xiao Hao talk about what happened in their village. Some time ago, a woman who was beaten every day drank poison and died.
