Chapter 69 Detained

Not long after An Yuesheng left, a person was thrown out of the shop, immediately causing gasps from the onlookers.

"Did they kill someone?"

"A dozen or so people stormed into the store, preventing them from doing business. They deserved to be beaten to death; they were ridding the people of a scourge."

"Another one was thrown out! Oh my god, there's another one!"

"Looks like there's a master in this shop. In just a few minutes, before the police even got back, more than a dozen people had already been beaten to a pulp!"

"That's really impressive. No one will dare mess with this store anymore."

Hua Wenxing was thrown to the ground like a dead dog. Then he watched as his other brothers were thrown out one by one. He trembled as he looked around.

The blue sky and white clouds seemed so unfamiliar to him at that moment, and the surrounding chatter was like sharp knives piercing his eardrums, making him involuntarily cover his face with his hands.

Brother Wang and several other construction workers heard the sounds of smashing and looting, but fearing they would be caught in the crossfire, they dared not go to help.

They only dared to come out and ask a question after someone from the kitchen came out to take out the trash.

"Hmph, go out and take a look." Li Dapao snorted at Lao Wang and went into the house in a huff.

Old Wang shuddered. Could his nephew be one of the people who came to vandalize the place?

When Lao Wang rushed outside, the first thing he saw was a crowd of people pointing and gesturing at the ground.

He frantically searched for his nephew in the crowd, but couldn't find him.

He looked down at the ground, and a familiar blue denim jacket came into view.

"Wenxing!" Old Wang squeezed in, shaking Hua Wenxing, "What's wrong with you?"

"What else? Your nephew smashed someone's shop, just wait and see how he pays back," someone in the crowd said gloatingly.

"Wenxing, is this true? Why are you always causing me so much trouble!"

Hua Wenxing remained silent; in the moment he was beaten like a dog, he too had lost his dignity.

Enraged, Old Wang attacked his nephew, slapping him hard on the back, hitting Hua Wenxing right where he was injured, causing him to scream in pain.

"Serves you right! I'm not going to take care of you anymore! Keep acting up and ruining your life. You want to be a celebrity? You can't even be an ordinary person."

Old Wang spoke through gritted teeth, wanting to crack open his nephew's head to see if it was full of straw.

"The police are here!" someone shouted.

A group of police officers stopped their motorcycles in front of the store, quickly got off, and rushed into the store.

"Don't all crowd here, make way!"

What's the situation inside?

"Officer, you only arrived after they had already finished fighting. You were way too slow."

Xia Baozhu, as the victim in this incident, went to the police station with the police to give a statement.

The next morning, Xia Baozhu was summoned to the police station again, but this time she did not leave immediately.

After repeating yesterday's questioning, a police officer said, "Given the severity of your actions, the person you injured intends to file charges against you for intentional assault."

"They came to my shop and vandalized it, and now they want to sue me?" Xia Baozhu chuckled, but her eyes were full of anger.

"We are still investigating the specific circumstances, and we ask for your cooperation."

"Wasn't the matter already investigated and clarified yesterday?"

“The people you injured have been sent to the hospital. They are determined to sue you for intentional injury. We are just following the procedures.”

Xia Baozhu stayed in the detention cell until night. All day long, she was filled with anger and resentment, unable to swallow the humiliation in her heart. She devised one revenge plan after another.

She was certain that one of the thugs who entered her shop must have connections; otherwise, why would she be detained when she was acting in self-defense?

"Xia Baozhu, you can leave now."

Without any explanation, Xia Baozhu was inexplicably released again.

As she walked out of the police station, she immediately spotted the familiar Jeep parked by the roadside.

In an instant, she suspected that her imprisonment was the work of Shen Shanlou.

"Stop looking, get in the car," Chen Shanlou said to Xia Baozhu, his arm resting on the car window.

Now she finally dared to show her face, which was stunning even without makeup, though it looked a little haggard, making people feel sorry for her.

Xia Baozhu was about to refuse, but then she thought of Chen Shanlou's identity. Was there anyone more suitable to gather information than Chen Shanlou? So she went around to the passenger seat and got in.

"How did you know I was here?" Xia Baozhu pursed her lips, which had been dry all day; she hadn't had a drop of water all day.

Chen Shanlou glanced at the lips that had lost their rosy color, then took out a bottle of purified water and handed it over.

Xia Baozhu took it, saw that it was unopened, and confidently twisted it open and drank it.

"You should ask how you got out." Chen Shanlou started the car.

He heard about the incident of more than a dozen people breaking into the store and vandalizing it today, so he made a special trip here. Ironically, Xia Baozhu was detained.

It took a lot of effort, and I even owed her a small favor, to get her out.

How did I get out?

"What do you think?" Chen Shanlou sneered. He shouldn't have expected Xia Baozhu to come up with the answer to the question so easily.

"Then I should thank you?" Xia Baozhu asked tentatively.

"You're welcome." The smile on Shen Shanlou's face slowly faded.

Why was I arrested?

"Intentional injury."

"Who made that decision?"

"One of the people you hit has a heart condition. He was rushed to the hospital for emergency treatment yesterday because of the beating you gave him."

"Is he sick enough to cause trouble everywhere?" If he's sick, why doesn't he stay home and instead goes out looking for trouble? Who can he blame?

"But he has connections, connections that can get you in but you can't get out."
