Chapter 140: Watching the Pig Killing
This was the first time Tang Wan did not hide her close relationship with Qin Zheng in front of others.
Qin Zheng was stunned for a moment, then parked the car next to Tang Wan.
The game of push chess here is actually very simple. In the days when there were no entertainment equipment, you could just draw a few lines on the ground, put stones and leaves on them, and play for an entire afternoon.
This skill can be mastered by any child of a few years old in the village, but this is Tang Wan's first time encountering it.
Qin Zheng came over and took a look, then casually pointed a direction to Tang Wan.
Dongzi was dissatisfied with Qin Zheng's comfort and watched the chess game in silence.
Tang Wan immediately retorted about what he had just done to help Luo Ying.
Qin Zheng didn't take it seriously and continued to help Tang Wan.
Dongzi was silent this time.
Qin Zheng also squatted down and huddled together with Tang Wan, facing Dong Zi and Luo Ying.
Dongzi and Tang Wan are playing against each other, while Qin Zheng and Luo Ying are both foreign players.
At the beginning, Tang Wan was no match for the two of them, but after Qin Zheng entered the game, the situation on the field changed drastically.
In the end, Tang Wan won the game.
Tang Wanying instantly dropped the chess piece in her hand and turned to Qin Zheng, looking at him with sparkling eyes: "I won!"
"That's amazing." Qin Zheng raised the corners of his lips, looking at Tang Wan's happy expression, he was also happy for her.
Tang Wan was still immersed in the joy of finally winning, and didn't notice the strange atmosphere at all.
Or rather, she noticed it, but didn't take it seriously.
Dongzi and Luo Ying on the opposite side looked at each other, probably having seen something from the gazes between the two people, but after thinking about it, they felt that it was unlikely.
The two of them shook their heads momentarily, secretly cursing themselves for what they were thinking.
"Has Fubao been sent back?" Dongzi couldn't help but ask.
"Yeah." Qin Zheng nodded, "I'll come around the New Year."
Qin Zheng also knew Dongzi's mood. Dongzi thought that he looked more like Fubao's elder brother than Qin Zheng, and he liked children very much.
"Have you bought anything?"
"I bought it. It's all packed in the backpack in the house." Dongzi pointed into the house.
"Let's go home." Qin Zheng looked up.
It gets dark early in winter. Even though it’s only a little after 12 o’clock, it’s almost dark.
It was cold at night, and after dark I couldn't even see the ice on the road, so I had to go home early.
Back home, without wasting any time, Qin Zheng and Dongzi tied the backpacks in the house to the car.
After pushing the cart out the door, we went back home together.
It was dark before we had even walked a third of the way back home.
Fortunately, the weather has been good these past few days, and the moon at night is bright enough, especially the sky full of twinkling stars. It doesn't feel like you are in a hurry when looking at it. Instead, it feels like you are looking at some incredible beauty. Before you know it, you have arrived home.
When they got home, Grandma Bai's courtyard door was not closed by herself. She was even standing at the door waiting for them to come back.
If you don't walk all the way, even if you have a car, you will still be exhausted when you get home.
Grandma Bai had already prepared food for them, and kept it warm in the pot with the residual heat, waiting for them to come back and take it out of the pot.
"The village will slaughter a pig tomorrow. You and Dongzi should get up in the morning to help in the canteen." Grandma Bai said to Dongzi and Qin Zheng while pouring hot water for them.
"Yes." Qin Zheng nodded.
"How many pigs are we going to slaughter in our village?" Dongzi asked curiously because it was his first time helping to slaughter pigs here.
