Chapter 155: Putting the Chess on Hold (1/2)

Chapter 110: Putting the chess pieces aside

Qin Zheng learned his cooking skills from Grandma Bai, so no one can say that it’s not delicious.

Mr. Tang tasted each dish one by one and nodded in approval.

After dinner, Tang's father and Tang Wan were still sitting in the living room, watching Qin Zheng wash the dishes in the kitchen.

"What do you like about him?" Tang's father suddenly asked.

He was probably still dissatisfied. Ever since Tang Wan quietly brought a man from the countryside, Tang's father had been dissatisfied.

Because of his love for Tang Wan, he never said a harsh word to her.

Without even asking, he let Qin Zheng into the house first, and waited until the groundwork was sufficient before bringing up the topic with Tang Wan.

Tang Wan was silent, not knowing how to answer her father's question.

"I don't know."

In the end, Tang Wan only gave these three words.

When Tang Wan's father heard what she said, he seemed a little surprised. Then he said hello three times in a row: "I don't know where the feelings come from!"

Now it was Tang Wan who was surprised.

You have to know that although Tang's father looks somewhat elegant now, he is actually a real peasant. At the beginning, he didn't even know many words. Thanks to Tang's mother who insisted that he learn something every day, he was able to get to where he is today.

The characters and knowledge he had learned were just enough for him to handle official business, but it was obviously not his style to say such a sentence.

Perhaps the surprise on Tang Wan's face lasted too long, so Tang's father began to explain: "When your grandfather asked your mother what she liked about a rough guy like me, your mother said this. You and your mother are of the same lineage."

Mentioning the previous incident about Tang's mother, Tang's father seemed even happier.

Tang's mother passed away a few days ago.

She was already in poor health, and it was a great effort for her to be able to walk all those miles, so when she left, Tang's father seemed to accept it calmly.

But every month, Tang's father would stay at Tang's mother's grave for most of the day, not allowing anyone else to accompany him. I don't know what he was saying to Tang's mother.

Tang's mother went to buy these women, and he went there every month, no less than that, and he had no intention of looking for another one.

Perhaps it was because Tang Wan's answer evoked memories of Tang's father.

He didn't ask any more questions.

Qin Zheng works cleanly and meticulously, and he is used to doing the same thing at home.

Tang's father went in to take a look and found that not only had the dishes been washed, but the stove and furnace were also cleaned.

Only then did Tang's father stop talking.

Perhaps because Qin Zheng was still standing there, Tang's father wanted to say something to him, but there was nothing to talk about. After a while, he said, "Can you play chess?"

"Yes." Tang Wan answered directly for Qin Zheng.

"Play with me for a while." After saying this, Tang's father turned around and went to his own room to get the chessboard.

Qin Zheng was still a little uneasy, not knowing whether the 'putting chess' that Tang's father mentioned was what he understood, or whether it was the kind of chess played by people in big cities.

Tang Wan gave him a look that said, "Don't worry." This was the kind of chess that Tang's father was talking about.

Tang's father also came from the countryside and had the same hobby as the older men in the village. He liked to play chess when he was free.

It’s just that there are not many people who know how to do it here. Tang’s mother had learned it from him before, and would play with him for a while when she was free.

The original owner was not interested in this and did not learn it.

After Tang's mother left, Tang Sheng could only play a few games with him when she was at home.
