Chapter 28: Eating Together
The watering work took four whole days.
When we got off work on the fourth day, the team leader said we could rest for two days.
Originally, they should have been able to rest for one day so that the villagers could go to the town to buy things, but now that they are busy with watering, they might as well just rest for two days.
Of course, not everyone can rest, some people still have to work.
In fact, this kind of rest every two weeks was originally only available after the educated youth went to the countryside.
In the past, everyone in the village went to work every day. If anyone had any problems, they just had to tell the reason.
Later, because many of the educated youth who came were unwilling to work and many conflicts arose, this kind of rest day was introduced.
However, most people do not take a day off. They get one day's work points for each day they work.
However, people like Tang Wan definitely need to rest. Even though she can drink spiritual spring water every day to eliminate physical fatigue, she is still very mentally exhausted after four consecutive days.
Tang Wan stayed at the educated youth site during the days she was watering the plants, but she still ate at Grandma Bai's.
After a day of rest, Tang Wan got up a little late.
Sister Yanhong came in the morning and asked Tang Wan if she wanted her to cook for her.
Tang Wan nodded: "Sorry to bother Sister Yanhong, I will eat at the educated youth camp tomorrow."
"It's no trouble at all. One more person won't make much difference. Your food is still here." Sister Yanhong wiped her hands and went back to the kitchen.
Most of the educated youth were not wealthy, and their food was generally of low standard.
Some people who have money and tickets sent by their families will choose to buy some food to satisfy their hunger during their breaks, or find other families in the village to share a meal with them.
However, there have been no educated youth who have shared meals in the past two years, and people like Tang Wan are considered an exception.
Tang Wan was still thinking about how to tell the team leader that she wanted to live with Grandma Bai. She should be able to finalize this matter during the next two days of rest.
Li Qing, who had just finished washing his hair, heard Tang Wan stay for dinner and started to say, "The food at our educated youth camp isn't very good. Isn't it better than what Tang educated youth eats at his fellow villager's house?"
Tang Wan raised her eyebrows, not knowing why Li Qing suddenly said this.
"really."
Hearing Tang Wan's answer, Li Qing snorted, "I knew a young lady like you wouldn't like the food at the educated youth camp, but there's nothing you can do. You wanted to eat at someone else's house, but they wouldn't agree. If you hadn't helped her, you wouldn't have been able to stay at someone else's house for so long."
"Extortion?" Tang Wan didn't expect this word to be used on herself.
"Of course you do. Look, Liu Zhiqing always pays for meals and gets a ticket when he eats at other people's homes. Aren't you just asking for money?" Li Qing glanced at Tang Wan with some disdain.
"Which Liu Zhiqing?"
"That guy in the white shirt in the courtyard." Zhong Ling came in from outside and just happened to hear Tang Wan's question. "Why are you asking about Liu Zhiqing?"
Zhong Ling looked at Tang Wan, trying to analyze her purpose.
"Li Qing just said that Liu Zhiqing was having dinner at another fellow villager's house, so I asked." Tang Wan explained lightly.
"He was given food coupons to eat..." Li Qing wanted to lead the conversation to the fact that Tang Wan didn't give food coupons and ate other people's meals for free.
But Tang Wan didn't have time to argue with her right now: "Is Liu Zhiqing eating at someone else's house?"
"Yes, it's the house next door. Her two sons work in the town. The food is good, so Liu Zhiqing eats at her place and takes the food there. She also gives him three yuan and other tickets every month." Zhong Ling replied.
"When did it happen?" Tang Wan was a little curious.
