Chapter 31 Inquiry (2/2)

Thinking of this, Tang Wan stopped talking.

At noon, Tang Wan had lunch at Grandma Bai's house.

Otherwise, people would say that Grandma Bai's cooking skills were good. She took the same cornmeal and mixed it with some white flour and added a little sugar. She made cornmeal cakes and steamed them in a pan. The cakes were soft, sweet, and had the aroma of corn. They were completely different from the ones she ate with wild vegetables at the educated youth site.

Tang Wan did not return to the educated youth group after dinner.

There are not many educated youths at the educated youth site. I don’t know the male educated youths very well and I have to avoid suspicion. The only female educated youths are Sister Yanhong and Li Qing. They are not interesting at all. It’s better for them to stay with Grandma Bai.

It just so happened that the dried mushrooms had been kept at Grandma Bai's place. Tang Wan planned to go to the post office tomorrow to mail these things back to Tang Yu, and also buy some things in the city.

However, it was almost noon just to get from the village to the town, and who knows how long it would take to get from the town to the city.

But Tang Wan had to complain, because the supply and marketing department in the town did not sell a complete range of goods.

Necessities like underwear can be brought from Beijing.

But things like sanitary napkins were only available in grocery stores in the city at that time.

Tang Wan couldn't imagine the feeling of having to use wood ash after the onset of the disease.

"Grandma, is there a car from the town to the city?" Tang Wan remembered that she had heard Luo Ying say that Qin Zheng went to the city to pick up Grandma Bai.

Grandma Bai should know how to get into the city.

"We have a car. What's the matter? Do you want to go to the city?" The two of them went into the house after finishing their meal. It was too hot outside, and they had to wait until it was cooler before working.

"Well, as long as I have a car, I want to buy some things at the grocery store in the city tomorrow." Tang Wan didn't say what she wanted to buy, and Grandma Bai had no problem with it.

"The bus to the town's Dongcheng leaves at around nine in the morning." Grandma Bai looked at Tang Wan and said.

"So early?" Tang Wan was a little surprised.

It's basically 11 o'clock when you get to Niu Che town, so you definitely won't be able to catch the 9 o'clock bus.

"That's okay. Let A Zheng take you to town on his bike tomorrow. We'll definitely make it in time. You can take a bus to the city later, and you'll still be in time to ride back in the evening." Grandma Bai made very good arrangements.

"Will this be too much trouble for Qin Zheng? I should be able to ride my bike into town by myself..." Tang Wan herself was a little unsure, mainly because the current bicycles have a frame in the front, and it is very high. When she rides on it, her feet should not be able to touch the ground.

Tang Wan's words amused Grandma Bai. "What's the trouble? It's just right to ask Ah Zheng to go to the city with you tomorrow and ask him to bring some things to his aunt. Besides, you don't know how to store your car in town, and you won't be able to find a place to store it later."

After hearing what Grandma Bai said, Tang Wan felt relieved.

It just so happened that she could get a ride with Qin Zheng on the way, and then she could go shopping after they parted ways in the city, so that both parties would not be delayed.

"Well, when Qin Zheng comes back, please tell him that I will pack my things when I get home tomorrow evening."

"Okay, I've packed the dried mushrooms for you. Later, take some of the dried winter melon and dried beans I dried earlier. Soak these two things and stir-fry them with meat. They taste better than fresh ones." Grandma Bai said as she was about to get up to get them.

Tang Wan stood up and tried to stop her but failed. In the end, she let Grandma Bai fill her cloth bag with things.

If Tang Wan hadn't stopped her, Grandma Bai would have even wanted to pack the remaining pickles as well.

It was only when Tang Wan said there wasn't much left and they should wait until next time that she successfully stopped Grandma Bai's actions.
