In the end, it was Aunt Xiumei who made the final decision. The couple, as well as the old couple and Yaya, would live in the guesthouse, while Taohua would live in the Nan family.
In fact, according to Aunt Xiumei's wishes, she wanted to live in the reception room with Taohua. After all, when someone got married here, there would definitely be relatives from other places coming here, and they would not feel comfortable taking up other people's space.
Nanqiao also said that all their relatives are locals, and only their uncle lives away all year round. But even so, their uncle has a house in Shanghai, so it won't affect Taohua living there.
Aunt Xiumei thought Nanqiao liked peach blossoms very much, so she agreed to let her stay.
After arranging the accommodation, Nanqiao felt a little tired. She was getting heavier and heavier. Even though she had slept most of the time on the train, it was a little noisy and she couldn't sleep well. Now that she was home, she relaxed a little.
"Yanchuan, you take care of my parents. I want to go back to my room and rest for a while. If we go to the guesthouse, you can just ask my brother for the car keys," Nanqiao leaned against Sheng Yanchuan and whispered
"Mom and Dad, let Yanchuan take care of you two. I'll go upstairs and rest for a while," Nanqiao said to Aunt Xiumei
Aunt Xiumei also knew that Nanqiao was weak to begin with, and her belly was much bigger than other babies of her age. She was naturally very tired after these two days, so she felt very distressed and urged her to go and rest.
"Okay, okay, don't worry about us, just go and have a rest."
"I'll take you upstairs," Sheng Yanchuan responded, and turned to Taohua and said, "Taohua, take your parents to your room to rest. I'll take your second sister-in-law upstairs to rest."
"Okay, second brother, you go ahead. Mom and Dad, come with me," Taohua said as she took Aunt Xiumei's hand and went to the room where she lived before. Huiping and Sheng Yanjun followed closely behind.
The beds in the Nan family were all covered with mattresses, and Taohua's guest room was no exception. Huiping touched the cushion on the bed as soon as she entered the room. If it wasn't inconvenient because she was pregnant, she would probably jump on it a few times with her curious look.
However, even though she was physically disabled, Huiping still sat on the mattress for a few seconds.
"Brother Jun, come and sit on it. I don't know what this cushion is made of, but it's so comfortable, soft and elastic! Mom, is it expensive? Let's buy one. Our family is the best in the village." Huiping said to herself, her eyes full of expectation.
"You want everything, why don't you go to heaven? We have heating here, but you put such thick things on the kang in the village, how can it be warm? You won't freeze to death." Aunt Xiumei said angrily. This eldest daughter-in-law has become more and more shameless since the separation of the family.
Hui Ping was not angry at being scolded, she just pouted and started looking at other things
Sheng Yanjun had no reason to pay attention to her since he entered the room. He just sat on the stool and looked around the room. It was not the white walls and green paint that were common in this era. Instead, he didn't know what was on the wall. The white wall dust would be rubbed off, and there were not very obvious patterns on it.
Even the furnishings and clocks in the room had intricate carvings on them, which he had never seen before.
"You know what, the houses in Shanghai are different from ours. Look at the things on display. I haven't told you anything. Isn't this a candle? Why is it forked into three branches?" Aunt Xiumei was also curious.
"Mom, my second sister-in-law told me that most of the things in this house were left by foreigners, including the decorations and candlesticks, so they are different from what we have here."
"Ah, no wonder, I said the patterns on them looked so rare," said Aunt Xiumei with emotion. She wanted to touch it, but when she heard Taohua say it was something foreign, she immediately withdrew her hand.
"Mom and Dad, should we go to the guesthouse now or later?" As they were talking, Sheng Yanchuan pushed the door open and came in.
"Let's go now and give these things to our in-laws first?" Aunt Xiumei asked.
"Leave it alone for now. I looked very busy just now. Just let me know when I come back in the evening."
"Okay, let's go," Aunt Xiumei said, and started to get her things.
As soon as he left the room with the package, Father Nan saw the Sheng family coming out and hurried over.
"Hey, dear, where are you going?"
"My dear relatives, we are thinking that we can go to the guesthouse and get a room first."
"Oh, so that's it. Yanchuan, take good care of your parents. Let them stay at the guesthouse at the entrance of the alley and just put the bill on our bill. I'll pay for it all after the wedding."
"Oh, that won't work. Nanbo bought all the train tickets, so how can I let you pay for the accommodation?" Aunt Xiumei said disapprovingly.
"It's okay. They have already made preparations. Our comrades from the Nanzhou Army and some foreign students from Nanbo are all there. You can just stay there and rest assured."
"Dad, you go ahead and do your work. I'll take my parents there and they'll just take care of the arrangements." Sheng Yanchuan saw someone else coming to the door, so he asked Father Nan to entertain them first.
"Okay, you can make the arrangements and come to my house for dinner tonight."
"Okay, Dad." After saying that, Father Nan nodded to Father Sheng and Mother Sheng and went back to work.
Fortunately, the guesthouse was not far from the Nan family, so Sheng Yanchuan did not go to get a car, and walked with his family to the guesthouse.
After checking in, Sheng Yanchuan went to the room with them.
"Mom and Dad, are we going to the Nan family for dinner tonight?" Sheng Yanchuan asked
"Let's not go. It's not good to trouble others all the time. Let's just eat something casually," said Aunt Xiumei as she packed up the things in her hands.
"Then let Taohua take you out for a walk this afternoon. She's been here before. There are a few shopping malls not far away."
"Okay, okay," Huiping responded excitedly without waiting for Aunt Xiumei to speak.
"Why are you everywhere?" Aunt Xiumei waited for her.
Although Sheng Yanchuan was annoyed with her, he was still happy that his parents could go out for a walk. After all, he had to take care of Nanqiao in the afternoon, and as a son-in-law, he had to help with the Nan family's affairs. He couldn't let the Sheng family sit in the Nan family or stay in the guesthouse all the time.
