The children were innocent and instantly became happy knowing that they could still play with their brothers and sisters.
In comparison, the adult world is much more complicated.
Sheng Yanchuan walked all the way home, feeling extremely irritated. He couldn't understand why his family, who had gone through hardships together in the past, couldn't have a smooth life now even when they were sharing the good times.
When they got home, Nanqiao was still asleep. Sheng Yanchuan changed his clothes and lay on the bed, hugging Nanqiao in his arms.
In her dream, Nanqiao was embraced in a slightly cool embrace. She turned over in the quilt and got into Sheng Yanchuan's arms, murmuring, "Where have you been? Why do you feel so cold?"
"I just went to my parents' place." Sheng Yanchuan tucked the quilt into Nanqiao's hands and said calmly.
"Yeah," Nanqiao replied calmly without asking any more questions. There was a moment of silence in the bedroom.
After a while, just when Sheng Yanchuan thought Nanqiao had fallen asleep again, he heard Nanqiao's voice again in his chest.
“It’s not going well.”
Sheng Yanchuan paused when he heard this, and sighed for a long time, hugging Nanqiao tighter, "I'm sorry for putting you through this time."
"I know what's going on. I know what kind of personalities my mother and my elder brother have had over the years. Don't take it too seriously," Nanqiao comforted Sheng Yanchuan. This matter has passed, and she has calmed down by now. In short, she has decided not to get too close to them, so there is nothing to worry about. As for whether they apologize or not, she doesn't care even more.
Nanqiao is very fussy about these things. She cares about the attitude of the person she cares about. If she has already planned to separate the person from her, then what the other person thinks is no longer within her scope of concern.
Now... Sheng Yanjun and Aunt Xiumei are no longer in her sphere of concern, so she doesn't care whether they apologize or not. As long as they don't cause trouble for her, they can live in peace.
"In the future, we can just visit them during the holidays. We won't have many opportunities to see each other at other times when we are busy." Sheng Yanchuan said this, but he still felt uncomfortable in his heart. After all, they were his parents.
"Okay, I understand." Nanqiao understood what he cared about, but he didn't want to compromise himself to accommodate him, so he could only accept the matter.
After Nanqiao finished speaking, the two did not continue the topic and slept for a while in bed. Nanqiao leaned out of the quilt with sleepy eyes and looked at the watch on the bedside.
Stretched
"What time do you leave home?"
"It's still early, we can leave at six in time."
"Then let's go pick up the kids from school today." Nanqiao heard that he was leaving so late, thinking that they had never gone to pick up the kids together since they got busy. It was rare for them to be at home today.
"Okay, shall we walk or drive?"
"Let's go, we haven't walked together for a long time."
"Okay, then get up and wash up. I'll go downstairs and make you a cup of honey water. Drink it before you go out." Sheng Yanchuan sat up, holding Nanqiao's neck and lifting him up.
"Okay, I want something sweeter." Nanqiao stood up from Sheng Yanchuan's hand. When she heard that he was going to make honey water, she happily made her request.
"Okay, go wash up." Sheng Yanchuan helped Nanqiao put on her shoes and waited for her to go to the bathroom. Then he changed his clothes and went downstairs. He made a honey water bath and sat downstairs waiting for her.
"Aunt Zhou, Nanqiao and I will go pick up the kids today." Sheng Yanchuan sat down at the table and said as he saw Aunt Zhou coming out of the room.
"That's fine. I said I'd go out early and buy some food on the way." Aunt Zhou had just changed her clothes and came out. She didn't expect Sheng Yanchuan and the others to pick her up. Her plan was disrupted and she didn't know what to do for a moment.
"No need to run. I'll ask Chaoyang to deliver some more tomorrow morning, and then I'll deliver some to the neighboring store." Sheng Yanchuan said and called the Chaoyang nearby. The store would deliver some vegetables and fresh meat to Sheng Yanchuan every now and then, so they were familiar with Sheng Yanchuan's call and immediately agreed to deliver it the next morning.
"If you guys go there, I won't have to run around. Do you want to eat at home tonight? I'll make it for you later." Aunt Zhou took off her coat and sat down on the sofa, asking Sheng Yanchuan
"I won't be home for dinner tonight, but Aunt Zhou, please take the trouble to make a hot soup tonight. The weather has been cold these days, and I see that Nanqiao's hands and feet are cold these days."
"The soup is cooking. I made some chicken soup this afternoon and it's still simmering on the fire." Aunt Zhou smiled. The temperature has dropped recently and Nanqiao is a girl who is prone to colds. Aunt Zhou had already prepared some for her.
"Thank you for your hard work, Aunt Zhou." Aunt Zhou's thoughtfulness and her attitude of putting Nanqiao and the children first in everything are what make Sheng Yanchuan most reassured and at ease. So on this point, Sheng Yanchuan supports Nanqiao's idea of taking care of Aunt Zhou in her old age, and he does not accept his mother's idea of dismissing Aunt Zhou.
Sheng Yanchuan sat for a while, and Nanqiao came up the stairs wearing a cashmere coat and high heels, like a fairy who had fallen into the mortal world. She didn't look like a mortal, and she didn't look like a mother of two children.
"Is this dress new? I've never seen you wear it before. It looks really nice." Sheng Yanchuan stood up, smiled and walked over to help Nanqiao walk to the table and sit down. His heart and eyes were filled with Nanqiao the whole time.
Nanqiao looked at Sheng Yanchuan coquettishly after hearing this. After so many years of marriage, his mouth has become sweeter and sweeter. "Your mouth is so sweet, did you drink my honey water secretly?" Nanqiao teased Sheng Yanchuan with a smile.
“I didn’t drink the water, but I said what was in my heart.”
Nanqiao smiled sweetly and picked up the water on the table and drank it.
Aunt Zhou looked at the sweet couple, smiled with her hands covering her lips, and secretly returned to the room when they were not paying attention. As an old woman, she did not want to disturb the love between the young couple.
