On the way, because of Zhao Yue'er's words, the car was silent and no one spoke until they were about to get off at Wang Ai'ai's place. Then there was some movement in the car.
"Ai Ai, why don't I take you home? It's a little dark on this road." Taohua looked at the dimly lit alley, where there was not even a single passerby, and felt a little worried.
"It's okay. It's not far. It won't be easy to drive in," Wang Ai Ai said. When the car stopped at the intersection, she and Zhao Yue'er got out of the car.
On the way, the two did not say a word. When they separated, Zhao Yueer and Wang Aiai said something and turned back home.
"Yue'er is back. How was your day?" Mother Zhao heard the door open and looked towards the door. Seeing that it was Zhao Yue'er who came back, she quickly took the waiter in her hand, poured Zhao Yue'er a glass of water, and asked with concern.
"Mom, I'm a little tired. I'm going back to my room first." Zhao Yue'er was very frustrated today. She was in a bad state and lacked the intimacy with her mother as usual.
"Well, then go back to your room and rest. Mom will make you a cup of honey water later." Mother Zhao looked at Zhao Yue'er worriedly as she returned to the room. She didn't look tired at all.
Realizing that something was wrong, he quickly put down the cup in his hand and returned to his room.
"Old Zhao, Yue'er is back. I think she's a little strange. Maybe she had a quarrel with her friend?" Zhao's mother pulled Zhao's father up from the bed. It's easy for her to be confused when thinking about things alone. She needs someone to analyze the situation with her.
"What's the matter? They are all students, they are probably just tired." Zhao's father didn't care. Yue'er had never had any conflicts with her classmates over the years, so Zhao's father naturally thought that Zhao Yue'er would not have any disputes with her friends.
"No, I've never seen her like this before. Even when she didn't do well in the exam and was criticized by the teacher, she was never so depressed." Mother Zhao still felt that Zhao Yue'er's condition today was not that simple. She was a little worried.
"If you're worried, go check it out. I won't go over there." Father Zhao picked up the newspaper again. His daughter was so old now. She might have gone to bed so late. So he didn't go in.
"What can I count on you for?" Zhao's mother valued this daughter very much. Seeing him dealing with it this way, she immediately got angry. She snatched the newspaper and threw it aside. She ignored Zhao's father's complaints behind her and went to the kitchen to make honey water.
"Yue'er, are you asleep? Mommy made you a cup of honey water, drink some before you go to sleep." Mother Zhao held the water, carefully opened the door and looked inside. She saw that the room was dark, with only the bedside lamp emitting a yellowish light. Zhao Yue'er was curled up in the quilt. She did not move when she heard her mother's voice.
"Yue'er, talk to mom. If there is anything, we can solve it together." Mother Zhao placed the cup on the bedside, patted Zhao Yue'er gently, and soothed her with a gentle voice.
"Mom!" Zhao Yue'er stood up and hugged Zhao's mother with a slightly crying voice. She had always had a smooth life, but today she felt very wronged.
"My dear, what's wrong? Tell mom." Mother Zhao felt so distressed when she heard her daughter crying. She had held her daughter in her hands for so many years, and she had never cried like this before.
Zhao's father and Zhao Yue'er's brother Zhao Haoyu, who were next door, heard the noise and hurried over. As soon as they entered the room, they saw Zhao Yue'er hugging Zhao's mother and crying.
"What happened to Yue'er?"
"Tell me what's wrong, I'll help you solve it." Although he and Zhao Yue'er were half-siblings and knew a little about how his stepmother and his father were together, his mother died of complications during childbirth, so although he didn't approve of his stepmother, he didn't have anything to resent. In addition, he had watched Zhao Yue'er grow up, so seeing her crying like this, he felt very distressed.
Hearing her family's comfort, Zhao Yue'er got up from her mother's arms and sobbed as she recounted what had happened today, but she did not mention a word about her own little thoughts.
"No, they are too overbearing. They think they are so great just because they are rich. Our daughter is just looking for a part-time job to study, why is she being talked about like that?" Zhao Haoyu was the first one to object after hearing this. He immediately got angry. If it wasn't late, he would have rushed out to argue with them.
Father Zhao was a leader, and his mind was much more mature than Zhao Haoyu's. After hearing what Zhao Yue'er said, he did not get angry immediately. Instead, he asked Zhao Yue'er, "Could it be that when you told the gay man, his wife misunderstood?"
"How can you blame our Yue'er? He's such a big boss and he interacts with so many people every day. If he is so jealous, he won't be able to live like this." In this room, apart from Zhao Yue'er herself, the person who knows Zhao Yue'er best is probably Zhao's mother. After hearing what her daughter said, she could more or less guess her little thoughts. But in front of Zhao's father and Zhao Haoyu, Zhao's mother had to protect her daughter. She didn't care about her image as a gentle wife and directly retorted Zhao's father.
"Look at you, I'm just saying, why are you still so angry?" When Zhao's father saw Zhao's mother getting angry, he didn't dare to say anything more.
At this point, Zhao Haoyu suddenly asked, "Big boss? I didn't pay attention just now. Where are they from?"
"It's the department store, called Chaoyang Department Store," Zhao's mother recalled.
"This... the Chaoyang Department Store on Chaoyang Road?" Father Zhao was so worried about his daughter that he didn't notice the store was called this. When he mentioned it, he was suddenly shocked.
"What's wrong with Chaoyang? He's just a private person with money. Why do you have to look like that?" Zhao's mother didn't know Chaoyang's background. Seeing her husband in a panic, and even Zhao Haoyu's face looked a little wrong, she suddenly felt that these two really couldn't take the blame.
"What do you know, woman?" Zhao's father glared at Zhao's mother with disapproval. Before she could lose her temper, he continued, "If it was just a private enterprise, it would be nothing special. But the boss of Chaoyang is different. If I remember correctly, the boss of Chaoyang is called Sheng Yanchuan. There are reports that he is involved in both the black and white worlds. The black one is his past background, and as for the white one, it is his wife."
